Portugal Inês Courses invites you to Portugal for our Blanca Alvarez Watercolour Masterclass Sunday 7 to Friday 12 April 2019 About the teacher: Blanca Alvarez is a young emerging talent from Spain. She was born in Seville in 1988 and lives in Malaga. Her mastery of the most difficult medium of watercolour is demonstrated in her delicate and superbly measured brush strokes, the transparency and vibrancy of her colours and the fluidness and unpredictability of the water. Blanca paints a wide range of subjects, but she is fascinated most by seascapes and especially likes to paint Lighthouses in dramatic locations. Her urban compositions capture perfectly the atmosphere and light of the moment, detailing the way people decorate their spaces, streets and homes. Her portraits are full of life and richly evocative. Blanca has only recently started teaching and this will be her first ever intensive 4 day masterclass. We hope you will join us in a superb location for the opportunity to learn the techniques and secrets she has to share.
Dates: Sunday 7 th Friday 12 th April 2019 (5 nights, 4 full days of teaching) Location: At Quinta da Conçeicão, Azeitão, Portugal. A magnificent baroque manor house in a rural idyll. Located near Azeitão about 30 minutes south of Lisbon Airport. Find out more about the Quinta from the website: www.quintadaconceicao.pt. Group size: minimum 4, maximum 10 students, plus 4 spaces for companions. Airport Pick up & drop off: At Lisbon airport Starbucks cafe in the arrivals hall at 15.00 or 19.00. If you are arriving by car, check in at Quinta da Conceicao is from 16.00. On Friday 12 th April students will be dropped at the airport at approximately 10.30. Languages: Teaching will be given in Spanish with translation to English, French and Portuguese. Skill Level: Participants of all abilities are welcome to attend.

Plein air, Lighthouse at Cabo Espichel (weather permitting). Demonstration followed by practice. 08.30 Breakfast, 10.30 Portuguese ceramic tile painting workshop 13.00 Picnic Lunch at Cabo Espichel followed by plein air painting. 15.30 return to studio, 18.00 teaching finishes, 20.30 Dinner Thursday 11 th Plein air and studio. ACCOMMODATION & PRICES: All rooms have private bathrooms and wifi. If you opt for a shared room you will share with a person of the same sex. The price includes: the course, all meals, airport transfer, group activities, coffee, tea and snacks during the day. We will purchase the recommended pigments for the course to share with students free of charge. Our terms and conditions: All inclusive price: The price includes the course, all meals, snacks, tea, coffee, mineral water, wine/beer/soft drinks served with meals, access to the spa (pool, sauna and steam), and tax. You should bring your own art materials. Portugal Ines Courses will have paper (Arches and Saunders 300g) available for purchase and we will provide Blanca s recommended pigments for students to share. All meals at the Quinta are freshly prepared and made from fresh, good quality seasonal ingredients. Local wines are served with meals. Please let us know of any dietary requirements you have when booking, we will do our best to accommodate them. Airport transfer: Pick ups at 15h and 19.00h from the Starbucks cafe in the Lisbon Airport arrivals area. If you are arriving at other times, please let us know and we will organise a taxi to pick you up at your own expense. Minimum and Maximum group: The masterclass will only go ahead if a minimum of 4 students enrol. If we do not reach the minimum number by 60 days before the course, it will not go ahead and any deposit paid will be refunded in full. We will give updates on the progress of bookings and availability on the course page at www.portugalinesartcourses.pt The maximum number of students will be 10. Students without accommodation: Portugal Ines Courses offers all inclusive packages for artists with accommodation and meals provided. We always give priority to participants who want the whole package. Therefore we can only start to allocate places to local students (i.e. without accommodation) 60 days or less from the start of the course. Deposit, payment and cancellation: There is a 100 deposit payable by bank transfer in order to confirm your place on the course. We will refund your deposit in full in the event of our cancellation of the course (which would only happen in extreme circumstances or if we do not reach the minimum booking number). You may cancel your participation up to 60 days before the start of the course without penalty. If you cancel less than 60 days before the start of the course, we reserve the right to keep the deposit. Please pay the remainder of the fee when you arrive. You can pay in cash, bank transfer or by credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard). We do not accept Amex or Diners. All participants must take out suitable travel insurance to cover you in the event of an accident or medical emergency.
