We make Artificial Intelligence tangible for you. The German edition of the MIT Technology Review has been reporting on new developments in this field for years. In 2013 we have already launched the question: Computers do the work, what do we do? Now at our Innovators Summit AI, we bring together relevant experts from business and science to explore the real potential of this new technology in comprehensive lectures, real case studies and inspiring workshops. We believe that AI will change almost every business field - from automotive industry to medical industry to logistics. But we also know that their true potential is still overestimated while underestimated at the same time. Overrated because technology is reaching its limits. Underestimated, because the existing AI systems already mean major changes for individual companies and whole industries.the key questions are: Where is technology moving to? What about the relevant business model? How far is the competition? Good answers seem rare. For this reason, the Technology Review editorial team has launched the Innovators Summit AI. THE INNOVATORS SUMMIT AI OFFERS Overview and outlook: Top-class scientists present the current state of AI research, explain the important technologies in the field of artificial intelligence including their advantages and disadvantages and answer the question: For which application is which technology suitable? Which further developments are to be expected where? Applications and business models: With AlphaGo s victory over the world s best Go player at the latest, it is clear what potential Artificial Intelligence theoretically has. However, it is much less clear which applications result from this. In concrete case studies, startups and established companies explain how to use AI profitably, what implementation means for an organization, where the pitfalls and opportunities are waiting. Cross-innovation and inspiration: Learn from other industries. Because with artificial intelligence in particular, the similarities between the different markets are greater than the differences. The combination of lectures and workshops gives you excellent opportunities to network and exchange ideas.

THE PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT Openness: Discuss your challenges, solution ideas and strategic considerations with like-minded people and experts of your professional level. So they come up with ideas and approaches that will help you. Commitment: We bring together people who care about Artificial Intelligence, working with great energy on applications for tomorrow. Professional moderators lead the workshops and lead the discussions to a meaningful result. Target Audience Strategy decision-makers from all industries, especially from the C-level sector (CEOs, CTOs, CIOs) business development managers innovation managers, start-up founders scientists venture capitalists, human resource managers, managing directors, entrepreneurs Expected participants 150 VENUE smartvillage Ganghoferstraße 66b 80339 Munich www.smart-village.info

PROGRAM Day 1 (20 November 2018) Session 1: From Natural to Artificial Intelligence 9:00 am Registration 9:30 am Keynote speech - How Artificial Intelligence changes business processes and what it means for people // Prof. Wolfgang Wahlster, Chairman of the Management Board and Technical-Scientific Director of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH 10:00 am Partner-Keynote 10:20 am Talk - How an AI learns to learn: What natural intelligence teaches us // tba 10:30 am Coffee break Session 2: From Analytics to automated Decisions 11:00 am Talk - Are AI systems ready for automated decisions? // Prof.Damian Borth, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, University of St.Gallen (HSG) Computers can easily be misled into making mistakes: They recognize gibbons in pictures showing a panda, or they classify a turtle as a gun. Researchers succeed in doing this by inserting tiny changes into the images that are invisible to the human eye - so-called adversarial attacks. What is with panda s gimmick can become deadly serious in autonomous driving. Moreover, these errors are by no means limited to image recognition. They can occur in almost any machine learning application, from production data analysis to speech recognition. This can turn automatically made decisions into serious misconclusions. The lecture shows how today s AI systems make decisions, which problems arise from them - and how they can be avoided. 11:20 am Case studies - Automated decision systems 12:00 pm Lunch break Session 3: From Man to Machine 1:30 pm Talk - The bridge between natural and artificial intelligence // Prof. Sami Haddadin, founding Director of the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence, founder Franka Emika GmbH, winner of the German Future Prize 20177 Man and machine are moving closer together than ever before, artificial and natural intelligence are increasingly forming a system. Examples range from soft robotics in industrial production to chat bots, automated decisions and autonomous cars. The great danger is therefore not the fight between man and machine - but that of man and machine. Poorly thought-out interfaces between artificial and natural intelligence can lead in the harmless case to misunderstandings, in the worst case to serious wrong decisions and accidents. Anyone who knows the limits of current AI systems and the fundamental differences between machine and human intelligence can evade them - and develop systems that really help people. 1:50 pm Case Studies - Interface Solutions 2:30 pm Coffee break

PROGRAM Session 4: From Technology to Strategy 3:30 pm Talk - A strategic view on AI // Andreas Liebl, Managing Director of applied AI, UnternehmerTUM Artificial intelligence as the final goal of machine learning is a remarkable technological advancement. It s implementation and capabilities however have strategic implications for companies. Business models will change and the challenges companies face on their path to AI adoption are unique. Andreas Liebl and his team have developed and tested a strategy framework to take the challenges on our way into the AI age. In his talk he moves from the technological argument towards an economic view and strategic questions. 3:50 pm Partner Keynote 4:10 pm Case Studies - Industrial Automation 5:10 pm Talk - What s next? How Machine Learning on Quantum Computers will power the future // Andy Mason, D-Wave Systems Ltd. Under specific circumstances, Quantum Computers are millions of times faster than any classical computer. D-Wave, the Pioneer in this field, already showed together with Volkswagen, that its machines can simulate city traffic, forecasting traffic jams and solving the complex problem of finding the perfect route. Now it works on applying machine learning algorithms to its quantum computers. What will this mean for the future of AI? 5:30 pm Networking & Winter BBQ DAY 2 >>>

PROGRAM Day 2 (21 November 2018) Workshop series in Cooperation with appliedai 9:00 am - We transform the sometimes theoretical and hard to grasp domain of AI into a hands-on exploration 2:00 pm of technological cabailities and business models. Together with experts from industry and academia you will explore the building blocks of AI and discuss their implications. appliedai is an initiative of UnternehmerTUM, one of the largest non-profit innovation and entrepreneurship centers in Europe, together with leading public sector, industry and tech players. Combining corporate experience, entrepreneurship, latest research, and creative mindset it accelerates the adoption of Artificial Intelligence in industry as well as society. Hands-on-Sessions Machine vision hands-on Machine vision applications Language hands-on Language applications Strategy Sessions AI value chain and vision AI positioning and prioritization Coffee and a small lunch will be served. Details will follow soon.
