TIS ARTS Newsletter Volume 4 March 27 2014 Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers, This week we are focusing on commitment! Dictionary Definition of Commit: to pledge or engage oneself: a musician who commits to the highest standards. At Tauranga Intermediate School we give everything a go and those things we enjoy the most, the things we are good at, we commit to them with passion and pride! In this week s volume we will be congratulating the students that have made commitments in the Arts. We will be focusing on the students that have made it in to the J-Rock team and the successful vocalists for the School Rock bands. The School Orchestra has got off to a great start, however we are seeing a decrease in attendance as we progress through the term. Some students have shown outstanding commitment, but unfortunately some have not. Commitment is what will set you apart from the rest. Have a great week everybody! Tauranga Intermediate Arts Department Don t forget to check out the Trivia Question at the end of this Newsletter and put your answer in the yellow box outside the Performing Arts Office. If you would like to receive a copy of this newsletter via our email database please contact Sabrina Jackson at sabrinaj@tauranga-int.school.nz to be included on a mailing list. [1]

Calling all Flute, Brass, Woodwind and String players To be a part of our Tauranga Intermediate School Orchestra! We rehearse every Monday in Block 3, but our numbers are suffering due to lack of commitment and forgetfulness! Mrs Jones, takes the wind section of the Orchestra. This includes saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones and Hlutes. Mrs Jones is an extremely talented musician and teacher. She makes the commitment to come in every Monday to rehearse our Orchestra. Make use of her wonderful skills and make her time worth her while and sign up to be a part of something awesome! Shelby Maples works with the string section of our orchestra and the violinists are the most committed so far. I have to say that our Hlute players (you know who you are) are letting the team down! We do not accept mediocre at this school, we always strive to do our best, so do your best to show up to your Orchestra rehearsal every MONDAY BLOCK 3, and we will do our best to make sure it is an awesome experience.
