This approval is applicable only to the specified closers used in the specific fixing position detailed later, with door assemblies of proven fire resistance (as defined in BS EN 1634-1 or BS 476: Part 22: 1987) and having a power rating appropriate to the leaf sizes subject to a minimum size 3 (as specified in BS EN 1154) and including the manufacturer s supplied intumescent protection kit. Failure to supply and install the manufacturer s intumescent protection kit, in the appropriate manner will invalidate this certificate of approval. Additional intumescent frame or door edge protection may also be needed (see scope of approval section). 6. This approval does not cover models with a mechanical hold open facility. 7. 9. The doorset, including door frame and associated building hardware, should be either CERTIFIRE approved for the relevant application and classification or the doorset, including door frame and associated building hardware, should have achieved at least the required period of fire resistance when tested, or subsequently assessed to EN 1634-1. In either case regard should be paid to the maximum door mass permitted to be used with the closer. 10. The doorset shall be installed in accordance with BS 8214: 2008 where applicable. 11. The approval relates to on going production. Product and/or its immediate packaging is identified with the manufacturer s name, the product name or number, the CERTIFIRE name or name and mark, together with the CERTIFIRE certificate number and application where appropriate. 12. Page 5 of 7 Signed CERTIFICATE No. CF 767 See CERTIFIRE Technical Schedules for designation of doorset types i.e. ITT etc. Scope of Approval: All applications apply to unglazed doorsets and glazed doorsets incorporating an uninsulated glass panel size of less than 20% of the leaf area. The closer applications are as referenced in the Classification code section in accordance with EN 1154. Use of the ITS.11204 for FD30/E30/EI30 applications shall require the following conditions to be met: The door leaf shall have a minimum thickness of 44 mm. The doorset shall be previously proven capable of the required performance when incorporating a similarly sized concealed closing device. The door frame shall be of softwood with a minimum density of 450kg/m 3. The closer shall be fitted in conjunction with an IP.114 intumescent pack as supplied by Rutland UK. Use of the ITS.11204 for FD60/E60/EI60 applications shall require the following conditions to be met: The door leaf shall have a minimum thickness of 54 mm and shall be previously proven capable of the required performance when incorporating a similarly sized concealed closing device. The doorset shall be previously proven capable of the required performance when incorporating a similarly sized concealed closing device. The door frame shall be of hardwood with a minimum density of 640kg/m 3. The closer shall be fitted in conjunction with an IP.114 intumescent pack as supplied by Rutland UK. Use of the TS.7003 for FD30/E30/EI30 applications shall require the following conditions to be met: The doorset shall be previously proven in double acting configuration. 1 mm thick Mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) intumescent material shall be fitted into the frame head mortise between the top pivot and the sides of the mortise. 1 mm thick Mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) intumescent material shall be fitted between the underside of the top pivot and its face plate. 2 x 2 mm thicknesses of Mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) intumescent material shall be fitted into the door leaf head mortise between the top strap and the sides of the mortise. 2 mm thick graphite intumescent material shall be bonded to the lower face of the bottom strap. Additionally, the door construction shall be a minimum of 44 mm thick and incorporate minimum 19 mm thick, 640 kg/m 3 density hardwood lippings to all four edges. The minimum level of standard intumescent included within the perimeter of the doorset shall include a single 15 mm by 4 mm seal to the vertical edges or frame jambs and a single 20 mm by 4 mm seal head of the door leaf or frame head (interrupted only at the position of the top strap/top centre).
Use of the TS.7003 for FD60/E60/EI60 applications shall require the following conditions to be met: The doorset shall be previously proven in double acting configuration. Mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) intumescent material shall be fitted into the frame head mortise between the top pivot and the sides of the mortise. Mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) intumescent material shall be fitted between the underside of the top pivot and its face plate. Where the standard intumescent seals are leaf mounted an additional section of 15 mm (may be reduced to 14 mm) by 4 mm seal shall be fitted centrally to the door jamb extending down from the corner by a minimum of 60 mm and a second section shall be fitted to the frame head extending from the corner out to the edge of the top centre. Where the standard seals are frame mounted the additional sections of seal shall be fitted to the leaf edge at the same relative positions. Additionally, the door construction shall be a minimum of 54 mm thick and incorporate minimum 19 mm thick, 640 kg/m 3 density hardwood lippings to all four edges. The minimum level of standard intumescent included within the perimeter of the doorset shall include two 15 mm by 4 mm seals to the vertical edges and head of the door leaf or mounted within the frame jambs and head (partially interrupted only at the position of the top strap/top centre). These seals shall be positioned 14 mm apart about the centre line of the door such that, where the top strap interrupts them, a residual width of 10 mm of each strip shall be continuous past the strap. When the standard seal configuration cannot provide the same level of bypassing to the top strap when leaf mounted, or top centre when frame mounted, additional intumescent in the form of two 10 mm by 4 mm bypassing strips shall be added. These strips shall extend from 20 mm before the item s mortise to the end of the door head or corner of the frame reveal. The necessary intumescent materials required for the TS.7003 installation shall included in the IP.70 intumescent pack as supplied by Rutland UK. Page 6 of 7 Signed
