You are encouraged to bring your 7th-12th grade students to the KNCSB Youth Worship Arts Camp. We are offering a variety of breakout tracks for participants in an effort to reach students with a variety of interests. These tracks are also designed to help strengthen existing ministries or give you and your students ideas on how to begin these ministries in your own church. Bass Guitar... The bass guitar track will encourage students to improve bass playing techniques and to understand how to blend with the rest of the band. Participants in this track will need to bring their own bass and amp. Cajon and Djembe Leader: Kevin Ferstl, Wichita, KS This is a new breakout track not just for drummers. Any students interested in learning how to play a rhythm instrument can attend. Both instruments can be used in addition to a drum set or instead of a drum set by small or large churches. They are both inexpensive rhythm options for any worship team. If your church owns a Cajon or Djembe, please send it with your students for this track. Choir...Leader: Jason Clough, Shawnee, KS It is exciting for a large group of students from different churches to sing together as one group. This track is for students who love to sing in a choir setting. The collection of contemporary songs used in this track will be theirs to take home and use in their own church. Drama... Leader: Jerry Michael, Topeka, KS This track will provide a deeper understanding of how to use dramatic arts to communicate Jesus message. Students will experience illustrating and interpreting service themes in a variety of ways. Guitar 101... Leader: Matt Gaskin, Lawrence, KS Guitar 101 is a beginning guitar track for students who have been playing acoustic or electric guitar for only a short time. This track will help students learn basic chords and playing techniques. Electric guitar players will need to bring an amp. Intermediate Guitar...Leader: Keith Barger, Derby, KS This guitar track is for students who have been playing guitar for a while and want to move to the next level of worship leading. Using Praise and Worship song selections, students will expand their playing technique. Players will need to bring their guitar.

Techniques for reading chord charts, as well as traditional piano scores, will be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced. Participants in this track will need to bring a keyboard. Photography...Leader: Stephen Smith, Topeka, KS Students will learn how to creatively capture images and discover how this process can be an act of worship. It would be helpful, but not mandatory, for students who participate in this track to bring a camera with them (a digital camera is preferable). Praise Band... Tech...Leader: Joe Smysor, Lawrence, KS Learn the basics of the technical aspects of projection and sound for worship services. Leader: John Gaskin, Lawrence, KS This track will help students develop a better understanding of proper singing including projection, pitch, and tone. This track will help them recognize and eliminate bad vocal technique and habits. They will also better understand how to select and prepare a song with the voice God has given them.
