Set these aside for the outer border corner blocks.
Construction Half Square Triangles Cut 12 ⅞, 6 ⅞, and 3 ⅞ squares in half on the diagonal. (You will have excess pieces to allow for variety.) Pair a matching size light and dark triangle, right sides together. Make 5-12 ½ blocks Make 16-6 ½ blocks Make 68-3 ½ blocks (Unfinished measurements) Sew (4) 3 ½ half square triangle units into a four-patch. Add a light 6 ⅞ triangle to each side of the four-patch. Join this unit to a dark 12 ⅞ triangle as shown. Make 3. Make 3 - measures 12 ½ unfinished. Sashing Strips For great variety, cut a couple extra 3 ½ x 24 ½ strips from fabric remainders. Gather (10) 3 ½ x 24 ½ strips. Sew together in pairs, creating 5 strips 3 ½ x 48 ½. Piece (16) 3 ½ half square triangles together in a long strip as shown: Make 3. Arrange the blocks and sashing strips as shown in the quilt picture and sew together to make the quilt top. Press rows in opposite directions. Make 4-6 ½ corner blocks with (3) 3 ⅞ half square triangle units and one 3 ½ square. Make 4 Press border strips toward the border. Inner Border Piece (4) 3 ½ x 30 ½ strips cream/black ticking into two long strips. Sew a strip to each side of the quilt top. Piece (4) 3 ½ x 27 ½ strips cream/black ticking into two long strips. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt. 3 1/2 Outer Border Piece (6) 6 ½ x wof strips Charcoal Chalkboard into one long strip. Cut into: (2) 6 ½ x 54 ½ top and bottom border. (2) 6 ½ x 66 ½ side border Sew side borders to the quilt top. Add a 6 ½ block to each end of the remaining 54 ½ strips. (Use quilt picture for placement) Add to the quilt top. Layer, baste and quilt as desired. Bind with Charcoal.
