Introducton Ths gude covers the Fxture Controller, model numbers ELED1-AUN and ELED1-AUS. The ELED1 s equpped wth a 902 MHz rado. The controller uses wreless technology to montor any room s envronment and provdes dmmng and swtchng control of an LED fxture. The controller ncludes Smple Tap technology whch allows nstallers and faclty operators to manage confguraton settngs wthout any tools. The ELED1 s a fxture controller desgned to ft wth today s vast number of LED lumnares provdng full-off wth relay and 0-10V dmmng. The controller provdes dmmng and swtchng control wth receved nput from a lnked sensor or swtch. As a lghtng controller, t operates lghts based on: ambent lght levels montored by a wreless photo sensor occupancy state montored by a wreless occupancy sensor swtch acton from a wreless wall swtch gateway control mplementng scheduled and demand response events Document Conventons Ths document ncludes the followng conventons to draw attenton to mportant nformaton. Notes are helpful hnts or nformaton that supplement the man content. Echoflex's user documentaton s desgned for prnt or electronc use. Benefts to usng the electronc format nclude usng the table of contents to jump to a desred page by clckng on the headng or usng word search to fnd a specfc topc. Cross references hghlghted n ths document are lnks to the referenced secton of the gude. Confguraton parameters are emphaszed throughout the gudes content n talcs. Addtonally, button and swtch actons (ON/OFF)and relay events (lghts ON/OFF) are emphaszed throughout ths gude n ALL CAPS. Ths gude s avalable for free download from Echoflex Solutons webste: www.echoflexsolutons.com 1 Fxture Controller Programmng Gude

Overvew The ELED1 s a complete stand-alone lghtng controller requrng only remote lnked devces to provde nput on lght level, occupancy state and swtch operaton. The controller wll perform common lghtng control applcatons: Vacancy Sensor Mode - partal OFF or fully OFF Occupancy Sensor Mode - partal ON or fully ON and photo nhbt Wall Swtch - ON/OFF, manual adjustment of dm level and tmed swtch Daylght Harvestng - open loop or closed loop Demand Response - sets a temporary hard lmt to the maxmum dmmng output Schedulng va nterfaces or gateways Rado Communcatons The ELED1 s a wreless devce capable of transmttng and recevng telegrams. The controller supports: Telegram repeatng, sngle and dual hop Controller status broadcast Auto-Detect Dmmng The controller automatcally detects when the purple and gray dmmng wres are connected to a drver or ballast that sources dmmng current. When the dmmng nterface wres are unconnected, dmmng wll be dsabled and fade tmers set to 0 seconds so the relay s acton s mmedate upon a lnked swtch or sensor's ON/OFF event. Overvew 2

Dmmng Output The controller's dmmng output s a 0-10V output provdng lnear, proportonal dmmng control of a dmmng drver or ballast. The maxmum and mnmum levels of the output can be confgured usng Garbald software. Maxmum dmmng level - the hgh level trm of the dmmng output, set to 100% by default Mnmum dmmng level - the low level trm of the dmmng output, set to 0% by default The dmmng output can also be dsabled through Garbald software allowng for mmedate relay control of the lghts. Near-Cross Relay Technology The ELED1 montors the AC voltage waveform so t operates the relay, ether open or closed, when the waveform s close to zero. Ths prevents carbon buld-up on the relay contacts ensurng the controller wll contnue to provde trouble-free operaton for years. 3 Fxture Controller Programmng Gude

Swtch Operaton The parameters dscussed n ths secton are confgurable. Refer to Confgurng the Controller for more detals on accessng these parameters. The controller operates wth sngle and dual-paddle wall, wave and hand-held Echoflex swtches. A quck press ON acton actvates the relay closed (lghts on) and the dmmng output wll ramp to the last manually set dm level. A quck double-press ON wll fade up to maxmum dmmng level and accelerate the fade perod to ½ second. A quck press OFF acton wll fade the lghts down to the mnmum dmmng level and then open the relay (lghts off). A quck doublepress OFF wll accelerate the fade perod to ½ second. Echoflex swtches can also be used as dmmer swtches when the dmmng output of the controller s enabled. Press and hold the ON or OFF sde to modulate the dmmng output up to the maxmum dmmng level or down to the mnmum dmmng level. Tmed Swtches The controller can be confgured so any lnked sngle or dual paddle swtch becomes a tmed swtch. A swtch ON closes the relay (lghts on) and the tmed swtch tmer s set. One mnute before the tmer expres, there wll be a flck-warn (lghts quck OFF then ON) to warn occupants of the pendng OFF event. Once the tmer expres, the relay opens (lghts off). The tmer can be reset at any tme by pressng a lnked swtch ON. A swtch OFF event clears the tmer and turns the lghts OFF. The tme perod s confgurable usng Garbald software. Overvew - Swtches 4

Occupancy Based Lghtng Applcatons The parameters dscussed n ths secton are confgurable. Refer to Confgurng the Controller for more detals on accessng these parameters. The controller wll turn the lghts OFF or fade down to a preset level when there s no moton detected n the room ndcated by all lnked occupancy sensors. There s a confgurable tme perod that must expre frst before the controller completes the vacancy acton. The occupancy auto-off tmer s set to 15 mnutes by default but can be changed usng Smple Tap Instructons or Garbald software. Grace Tmer The controller ncludes a grace tmer that starts countng down once the vacancy acton has been actvated. The grace tmer s a short perod of tme allowng an occupant to return the lghts to the prevous occuped state; ether through moton detecton or audo nput n the case of dual-tech sensors. Photo Inhbt Ths feature requres a lnked photo sensor n addton to the occupancy sensor and partal-on enabled (see Occupancy Sensors and Partal-ON). When photo-nhbt s enabled, the partal-on feature wll be gnored when the natural lght level measured by the lght sensor s above the daylghtng relay control set pont. The photo nhbt feature wll not turn lghts OFF f the lght s already ON. Photo Inhbt Operaton: Lght level s < daylghtng relay set pont The lghts turn ON automatcally when you enter the room. Lght level s > daylghtng relay set pont The lghts do not turn ON automatcally when you enter the room. Lghts are ON and the lght level ncreases past the daylghtng relay set pont the lghts stay ON. Lghts are OFF and the lght level decreases past the daylghtng relay set pont the lghts wll turn ON and ramp to the dm level defned n the partal-on settng upon the next moton detected by the occupancy sensor. 5 Fxture Controller Programmng Gude

Dual Technology Occupancy Sensors Echoflex dual technology sensors have bult-n occupancy tmers that manage the transton from occuped to the vacant state. The controller should be confgured to allow the dual-tech sensor control of the vacancy acton by settng the controllers occupancy auto-off tmer to 0 seconds. To change ths tmer, refer to the Smple Tap Instructons. Occupancy Sensors and Partal-ON When only occupancy sensors are lnked to the controller, the sensor wll automate the lghts both ON and OFF. The dmmng output for the ON acton wll adjust to the partal-on dmmng level (default 100%). Ths value s confgurable to accommodate partal-on applcatons usng Garbald software. Occupancy Sensors and Partal-OFF If the applcaton requres the lghts to reman ON durng vacant perods but at a dmmed level (partal-off), the partal-off dmmng level confguraton property accessble usng Garbald software can enable ths feature. Occupancy Sensors wth Swtches When swtches and sensors are lnked, the controller wll assume manual-on, auto-off operaton referred to as Vacancy Sensor Mode. The controller can be confgured to turn the lghts ON mmedately wth moton (partal-on) usng Smple Tap Instructons or Garbald software. When the swtch s used by pressng on or off, ths acton wll reset the occupancy auto-off tmer and set the sensor state to occuped. Overvew - Occupancy Applcatons 6

Daylght Harvestng Applcaton The parameters dscussed n ths secton are confgurable. Refer to Confgurng the Controller for more detals on accessng these parameters. The controller wll modulate the lght ntensty from a dmmng fxture based on the ambent lght level n the room when the dmmng output n enabled. The controller can also be confgured to turn the lght off wth suffcent natural lght. A lnked photo sensor montors the ambent lght level and transmts ths value to the controller. The controller wll only allow 1 lnked photo sensor. The daylght control applcaton has several confguraton varables: Daylghtng open/closed loop set ponts - the daylght harvestng applcaton serves two separate functons, closed loop control or open loop control. Daylghtng relay set pont - the ambent lght level that wll automate the relay The daylght harvestng applcaton does not affect the operaton of the wall swtch or occupancy sensor when the lght s on. If the lght s ON, ether the swtch or occupancy sensor can overrde the lght OFF or dm down below the daylghtng control value. See the secton ttled Photo Inhbt for addtonal functonalty. Daylghtng Relay Control When daylghtng relay control s enabled, the daylghtng sequence wll open the relay when the lght value montored by the sensor s greater than the daylghtng relay control-off set pont for a perod exceedng the daylghtng relay-off pause. The relay wll not close when the ambent lght reduces. A lnked occupancy sensor or wall swtch must reactvate the lghts after the daylghtng relay control has shut the lghts off. If the controller has only a photo sensor lnked and daylghtng relay control enabled, the relay wll close once the ambent lght falls below the daylghtng relay control-on set pont for a perod exceedng the daylghtng relay-on pause. 7 Fxture Controller Programmng Gude

Daylghtng Control Overrde The open or closed loop daylghtng features can be temporarly overrdden by enablng the daylghtng overrde confguraton parameter. The overrde has a tmer that wll release the overrde once expred and daylghtng control wll resume. When the overrde s enabled, a swtch can operate the relay ON and manually set the dmmng level. Both the daylghtng overrde tmer and overrde enable parameters are accessble wth Garbald software. Closed Loop Daylghtng Control Closed loop daylghtng becomes actve when a photo sensor wth a maxmum detectable range of lght less than 2500 lux s lnked to the controller. Closed loop daylghtng applcatons are defned when the sensor ndrectly montors the controlled lght output from the fxtures plus some of the natural lghts contrbuton. When the lghts are on, closed loop daylghtng wll try to mantan a gven set pont level wthn the space. Ths level s specfed n the closed loop daylghtng set pont confguraton parameter. The controller only adjusts the dmmng output upon receved photo sensor telegrams and only when the relay s closed. If the relay s open, closed loop daylghtng s gnored. The closed loop daylghtng set pont s adjustable usng Smple Tap Instructons or Garbald software. Whle mantanng the set pont, the dmmng output level wll only change a small amount of the output's full range wth every receved photo sensor telegram. The closed loop maxmum output change s set to 10% by default. Ensure the wreless photo sensor beng used has an update rate that s approprate to ndoor closed loop lghtng applcatons. The perod between consecutve telegrams should not exceed 200 seconds. The output dmmng level wll not change when the photo sensor level s wthn (+ or -) the closed loop dead-band value of the closed loop daylghtng set pont. Both the amount change per telegram and dead-band are confgurable parameters accessble usng Garbald software. Overvew - Daylghtng 8

Open Loop Control Open loop daylghtng becomes actve when a photo sensor wth a maxmum detectable range of lght greater than 2500 lux s lnked to the controller. Open loop daylghtng applcatons are defned when the sensor s montorng the natural lght contrbuton and s not affected by the controlled fxture's lght output. When the lght level montored by the photo sensor s below the open-loop maxmum output set pont, the dmmng output wll be at the maxmum output level. When the lght level s above the open-loop mnmum output set pont, the dmmng output wll be at the mnmum output level. In the dagram below, the bold blue lne ndcates the dmmng output. The output wll begn lowerng as the natural lght level ncreases (green dashed lne). When the montored lght level s between the set ponts t wll modulate the dmmng output proportonally. Photo Sensor Value Dmmng Output Value Max.Output Level Dmmng Output Range Mn.Output Level 0% Max. Mn. 100% SP% Photo Sensor SP% Range The rate the dmmng output wll change s defned by the confguraton parameter open loop dmmng rate whch defnes the tme for the dmmng to go from 0% to 100% or vce versa. The open loop maxmum output set pont and mnmum output set pont are adjustable usng Smple Tap Instructons or Garbald software. 9 Fxture Controller Programmng Gude
