Art & Soul Collective Incorporated Incorporated in 2012 under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009. Registration No: INC9897644 4 Sloane Crescent Allambie Heights NSW 2100 Email: artandsoulcollectiveinc@gmail.com Newsletter Volume 1, Number 2 October, November 2012 Cherry at Easels on the Esplanade Cherry s Chit Chat It is hard to not be inspired by the beauty of the Northern Beaches natural environment as Spring takes hold and beckons us outdoors. With this in mind, en plein air art events seemed to be the thing to do in September. It was great to see A&SC members participating in the Manly Arts Festival event - Easels on the Esplanade. I will confess to being a bit nervous about creating art in such a public arena, harbourside at Manly. However, I can vouch that it was great fun talking to the passers-by about our Art & Soul Collective and my art practice. For those who are unsure or intimidated about making art in public, coming along to some of the free A&SC en plein air events on our calendar might increase your confidence. It is also a fabulous way to share and discover new landscapes and subjects that inspire us. If you know of a great location for drawing, painting, photography and pondering the creative process, please suggest it as a location for a future en plein air event. One vision I am working towards for Art & Soul Collective Inc, is the involvement of members in community arts festivals in the future, hopefully in large numbers. This would be an exciting way to promote the benefits of an artistic collective for both the larger community and the participating artists. I watched the Lantern Parade in the Manly Arts Festival on the long weekend and saw the large lanterns being built on North Head beforehand. I think this is also a potential opportunity for interested A&SC members to learn new skills, have fun, connect with other artists and be involved with a community arts program. Our up-coming social events, like the morning tea, are meant to be just that - social and relaxed. I hope this type of event gives us all the opportunity to meet new people, talk and indulge in some tasty A&SC Newsletter Vol 1.2 October/November 2012 1

morning tea. You will find all these details in our Events Calendar (p.6). Meanwhile, getting together to create, discuss and discover art is a wonderful starting point. It will also help us work towards the bigger picture aims and visions of the committee and members. I look forward to seeing you at an Art & Soul Collective Inc event over the next couple of months. Cherry President, Art & Soul Collective Inc. Please email any suggestions to artandsoulcollectiveinc@gmail.com or contact one of your A&SC Inc Committee - Cherry, Leonie, Maria, Alenka or Karen From the Secretary This month my main effort has been in trying to get some information onto the website. It has been a busy month for me (for us all) so there hasn t been too much progress, but there is some information there for you all to have a look at. This is still a site under construction, and one of my ideas is to allow members to showcase their work on the website, perhaps a limited number of high quality images per member I am not ready for that yet and the details must be discussed by the committee before decisions are made, but in the meantime here is the address for you to check out http://artsoulcollectiveinc.weebly.com. I would welcome any feedback and constructive criticisms you may have. Maria Facebook Hi to all members from the administrator of the Art & Soul Collective Inc Facebook page.
