Can have either class Fall or Spring. : Beginning Computer Graphics/ Illustrator and Photoshop Programs Beginning Watercolor Painting Techniques/ Color Theory Principles and Vocabulary : Basic Drawing and mark- making with wet and dry Media such as pencil, pastel. Inks and watercolor Beginning Ceramics/ Hand-building and Pottery Wheel applications Year 4 10 th Grade TWO SEMESTER ONE IN FALL and ONE IN SPRING SEMESTER Student will complete the following 2 requirement classes during the 10 th grade school year. Student can complete classes either semester. Students will choose upper level elective classes for other open class blocks. Year 5 11 th Grade NO Student has completed all core requirement classes and is at determined level that is proficient with completed classes. Student will choose upper level elective classes for four open class blocks. Beginning Oil Painting Techniques 10 th GRADE REQUIREMENT semester class that includes an overview of painting techniques and applications and vocabulary. Student can enroll in this class either semester. Student will choose 1 M/W studio elective for the other semester from 10 VA elective studio class choices. Student will choose 2 studio electives from 10 M/W VA elective studio class choices. Beginning Figure Drawing; 10 th GRADE REQUIREMENT semester class that includes an overview of figure drawing and applications and vocabulary. Student can enroll in this class either semester. Student will choose 1 T/TH studio elective from 10 VA elective studio class choices. Student will choose 2 studio electives from 10 Tu/Th VA elective studio class choices.

Year 6 12 th Grade NO Student has completed all core requirement classes or has come in at a level that is proficient with completed classes. Student will choose upper level elective classes for four open class blocks. Student will choose 2 studio electives from 10 M/W VA elective studio class choices. Student will choose 2 studio electives from 10 Tu/Th VA elective studio class choices.

VISUAL ARTS CONSERVATORY 7 th GRADE Two Dimensional Design This class introduces 7th grade students to a wide range of art materials and to the concepts of two dimensional design, visualization and fabrication. The students work with colored paper, pencils, ink, and various types of paint in their 2D-focus and with additive sculpture, texture and found object fabrication in their 3D class. This exploratory class is designed to make the student aware of different materials and different approaches to fine art. 7 th GRADE Three Dimensional Design This class introduces 7th grade students to a wide range of art materials and to the concepts of three dimensional visualization and fabrication. The students work with colored paper collage, wire, beads, fabric, clay, found objects and nature in their 3D-focus. Students will work with subtractive and additive sculpture, texture and found object fabrication. 8 th GRADE Advanced Two Dimensional Design Following on from the 7 th grade Two Dimensional Design class, the students further develop their fine arts skills by specializing in style and technique. In this class the students will spend time using and mastering different drawing media and painting media. Focus will be on principles of design and color theory and line quality. 8 th GRADE Advanced Three Dimensional Design Following on from the 7 th grade 3D class and introduces more sophisticated techniques. The students will create elaborate 3D projects that require more advanced project development. The students must develop elaborate construction plans in their sketchbooks before they are allowed to begin each project. Students will work with mixed media sculpture, clay hand-building and glazing, wood sculpture, wire, and mixed media sculpture. 9 th Grade BASIC DRAWING This class furthers the study of drawing, rendering and shading, perspective and proportion. Students learn various drawing techniques using different wet and dry media. Emphasis will be on effort, quality and craftsmanship. 9 th Grade BEGINNING CERAMICS Students learn 3D hand-building clay techniques as well as various bisque glazing techniques. Students are introduced to the pottery wheel after they have mastered several hand-building techniques. 9 th Grade BEGINNING WATERCOLOR PAINTING This class introduces the students to the elements of color theory and its effect in watercolor painting. Students also focus on ink work and innovative design. Students also learn how to communicate an idea through illustration. 9 th Grade BEGINNING COMPUTER GRAPHICS This 9th grade requirement class focuses on mastering the various applications of Photoshop and Illustrator programs by working hands on the computers. Students will also use tablets as their drawing surface. This class is a prerequisite to Digital Painting class. 10 th Grade BEGINNING FIGURE DRAWING In this 10 th grade requirement class students learn basic figure drawing skills using studies of skeletal and muscular anatomy, proportion and gesture. Students work from student models and professional (clothed) models. Students use pencil, charcoal and pastel. 10 th Grade BEGINNING OIL PAINTING This 10th grade requirement class is an introduction to painting with oils. All students will learn to mix oil colors and use a limited palette and learn various painting techniques. Students will paint from observation.

ADVANCED CERAMICS 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade This class is a secondary class to Beginning Ceramics class (9 th grade requirement class).students further their education in wheel throwing, hand building, glazing and three-dimensional theory and design. Students create a 3D body of work that is cohesive and stylized as well as learn and apply glaze technology. ***Prerequisite- Beginning Ceramics ADVANCED OIL PAINTING 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade This class is a secondary class to the 10th Grade Beginning Oil class (10th grade requirement class). Students learn to mix and paint with oil paints and use solvent mixers. Students work mostly from still life set-ups and will also work in various techniques such as Cubism, Realism and Abstraction. ***Prerequisite- Beginning Oil Painting. ADVANCED FIGURE DRAWING 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade This class is a secondary class to Beginning Figure Drawing class (10th grade requirement class).students learn advanced figure drawing techniques using skeletal anatomy studies, muscular anatomy studies, proportion and gestural studies. Students work from student models and professional models. ***Prerequisite- Beginning Figure Drawing. ADVANCED DRAWING TECHNIQUES 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade This class is an introduction and overview of various advanced drawing techniques and materials. Students will work with colored pencil, ink, watercolor and pastel. MIXED MEDIA ART TECHNIQUES 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade This class introduces 10th. 11th and 12th grade students to a wide range of art materials and to the concepts of mixed media art and collage. Students draw and paint using mixed media including collage, printing, found objects. Students work less from observation and more from personal ideas and imagination and investigation. DIGITAL PAINTING 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade Students learn digital drawing and painting using a drawing tablet and computer. Students will use PhotoShop and Flash programs and learn how to create an animated short. Focus will be on illustration techniques, design and color theory. ***Prerequisite is Beginning Computer Graphics. DIGITAL PHOTGRAPHY 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade Students learn to use digital photography equipment and software. Students will also learn basic design and composition techniques essential to good photographs. Students will also use PhotoShop to edit their images. 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade PLEIN AIRE LANDSCAPE PAINTING Students paint in the plein air style at local outdoor Santa Ana sites and neighborhoods. Students focus on learning atmospheric painting techniques and understanding color theory, atmospheric light and the figure. 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade BEGINNING AND ADVANCED PRINTMAKING Students study the history of printmaking as an art form and then implement woodcutting, linoleum block printing, ink transfer techniques and silk screen techniques. Students will experiment with 3 4 processes. Focus will be on design, process and craftsmanship. 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade METAL ARTS This class is an introduction to the art of metals and jewelry making. Students learn metal fabrication, welding, metal casting, enameling, chain making and metal patina technology. Focus is on fabrication, design and craftsmanship. 10 th, 11 th 12 th Grade ANIMAL DRAWING This class introduces 10 th. 11 th and 12 th grade students to the world of animal study and animal illustration.
