2(12) 1. DESCRIPTION Knee socks, steel-grey with felted sole. The socks are manufactured in combed yarn, rib knitting in leg and upper foot part. Terry knitting in heel, sole and toe of non-anti-shrinkage treated combed yarn. The yarn composition is 75% wool and 25% polyamide. The size marking to be knitted with a different colour at the top edge of the leg. The knitting with anti-shrinkage treated yarn in combination with non-antishrinkage treated yarn as well as milling of the ready-made socks results in a felted sole, heel and toe while the upper part and the leg remains elastic. 4(12) The colour in the Technical Specification refer to the Pantone Colour System www.pantone.com A model will be supplied by FMV in connection with the FMV production briefing to the appointed manufacturer. In the case of any difference between the model and this Technical Specification, the Technical Specification shall take precedence. If any documentation supplied by FMV should seem incorrect, FMV must be informed about this. No drawings or specifications may be altered without the agreement of FMV.
5(12) 3. PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General 3.2 Colours: The workmanship must conform to the industry standard for the manufacture of quality goods as described below. Both types of yarn to be combed. The composition of the yarns to be 75 % wool + 25 % staple polyamide. Tolerance ± 3 % units, acc. to ISO 1833. The yarns to be dyed in tops. The wool and polyamide fibre to be blended before spinning. 3.3.1 Anti-shrinkage treated yarn (whole sock) Wool quality: Virgin wool with fibre diameter of 24.2 ± 0.8 μm. Yarn number (basic value): 33 x 2 tex (Nm 30/2) 3.3.2 Non-anti-shrinkage treated yarn (heel, sole and toe) Wool quality: Virgin wool with fibre diameter of 24.2 ± 0.8 μm. 7(12) 3.7 Shrinkage-control treatment The wool to be shrinkage-control treated in tops, in a method which does not damage the wool fibre. The method to be specified in the tender. 3.8 Dimensional change The shrinkage after one wash, in acc. with clause 2.1.The shrinkage of the sock to be maximum 6 %. The upper part of the sock leg shall both before and after washing be possible to stretch at least 200 mm without being damaged. 3.9 The requirements in Öko-Tex Standard 100, Product class II, to be fulfilled for the ready-made socks. 3.10 Marking 3.10.1 The size marking to be knitted on the upper edge of the sock leg acc. to the colours in clause 3.2.1. The size marking to be done with 4 courses in the upper part of the sock leg using anti-shrinkage treated coloured yarn. 3.11 Packing 3.11.1 The socks to be folded in pairs and packed in bundles, 10 pairs in each. Each bundle to contain one size only. The bundles to be packed in accordance with packing instructions in this specification.
8(12) 4. MANUFACTURING 4.1 Machine: 4.2 Knitting: 4" - 4, 5", 108-114 needles. The leg to be rib-knitted 1:1 and the upper part of the foot to be rib-knitted 3:1. High heel, heel, sole and toe to be plain knitted with terry inside. The top part of the leg to have 4 welt-knitted courses. The elastic thread to be inserted in every second course. The sock to be knitted in two systems: The whole sock to be knitted in both systems with two threads of combed antishrinkage treated yarn (Nm 30/2). By means of an extra yarn pilot an elastic covered yarn to be inserted into the first system in the leg. In the high heel, heel, sole and toe a non-anti-shrinkage treated combed yarn, Nm 22/1 to be added. This yarn forms loops both in- and outside of the sock. The inside loops are knitted in terry structure. The terry loops to be knitted in each course in the foot part. 4.3 Toe-closing: Machine-sewn with 1-needle, 2-thread overlock, stitch type 503, acc. to ISO 4915. Number of stitches: 11 stitches/10 mm. The seam-width on the wrong side to be 5-6 mm when the sock toe is stretched in width. The endings of the seam chain to be 10 mm long. The terry loops are not to be sewn in the seam, but to be placed 1-2 courses away from the seam. 4.4 Finishing: The socks to be delivered washed, milled and formed.

QUALITY ASSURANCE Supplier's Commitments The supplier shall establish and maintain an effective quality system that meets the requirements of EN ISO 9001, Quality management systems - Requirements. Permissible exclusion: Sub-clause 7.3, Design and development. The supplier shall provide FMV*, in good time before the start of production, with reference samples and material together with documents according to a, b, c, d, and e, listed below. The requirements in this Technical Specification must be fulfilled. a) Reference samples from the production plant where the actual production is placed: 2 pairs of socks in each size b) Test report from an independent laboratory, accredited to perform test methods required in this specification, for: Colour fastness to washing ready-made socks Colour fastness to perspiration ready-made socks Dimensional change acc. to clause 3.7 Öko-tex standard 100, class II ready-made socks and/or yarn acc. to clause 3.2 d) Technical data sheet, showing that the product fulfils the requirements, for: All material, data sheet from the manufacturer of the yarn and the elastic band e) - yarn, two cones with original readable labels - coloured yarn for size marking, one cone in each colour with readable labels - elastic thread, one cone with readable label or 10 m FMV assesses and approves the received material. The bottom of the boxes shall be sealed with a lengthwise sealing tape both on the inside and outside of the box. Figure 1. 7.7 Information about the quality of the sealing tape The sealing tape is to be wet with water in order to get affixed The sealing tape is specially treated to protect the products against damp and other damages.
12(12) 7.8 Packing Boxes not filled up N.B. More than one size in each cardboard box is not allowed. If all of one size does not fill up the whole of a box, the vacant space shall be filled up with other suitable materials. This filling must not generate dust or otherwise be detrimental to its contents. Exceptions, if any must be approved by FMV. Type of pallets 7.9 Marking Pre-printed data Figure 2. The boxes shall be secured on to the pallet. The supplier shall free of charge supply the requisite number of pallets. Deliveries without required pallets will be replaced with new pallets.
