Year 10 Art aims to: Prepare students for VCE Art, Studio Art or VCD Allow expression of ideas through critiquing and analysing Art themes Foster and develop a students individual artistic approach Develop a positive attitude and drive for creating new and exciting artworks Develop an appreciation for traditional and contemporary artworks through analysis via the introduction of the Formal Frameworks

Via the use of a wide array of mediums and materials, students are encouraged to develop their own individual style. Coupled with a willingness to express ideas and experiment with varied concepts, Year 10 Art can be a vibrant and stimulating course to consider. The use of a visual diary is essential and forms the basis for creating artwork that is both challenging and imaginative. Art appreciation and written assignments are valued highly and relate directly to the production of individual art forms throughout the semester.

Year 10 photography and the moving image aims to: Develop communication skills using media such as video, black and white analogue and colour digital photography. Encourage creativity and depth of expression in various forms of media. Create a Visual Diary recording experiences, thoughts and procedures throughout the course allowing students to think deeply about the technical and creative nature of their work. Become proficient in the use of digital cameras, traditional black and white film and darkroom techniques and a variety of image manipulation programs such as Photoshop and imovie Gain an understanding of the Art Elements and Principles when analysing past and present Photographers. Prepare students for VCE Media/Studio Arts

Year 10 VCD aims to: This course enables students to develop the capacity to solve communication and design problems creatively and imaginatively using the design process. It sets helps students acquire skills in visual thinking and expression with the aid of drawing and improves their ability to use drawing as a way of recording observations and investigations. Students also have the opportunity to develop skills in freehand drawing, instrumental drawing and rendering. The course helps students to develop an understanding of ways by which visual imagery can communicate and aid the communication of ideas and information and to develop knowledge of existing drawing conventions and standards.
