Learning & Development How do I apply for the Core Management 2015 programme? Check that you are able to attend ALL the dates for at least one of the groups (listed in the launch pack). If you can t, there will be another opportunity to apply later this year. Discuss whether you should apply with your manager there may be other training that is more suitable for your development at this time e.g. the Business Fundamentals modules. If you decide it is appropriate for you to apply, use the sample application questions document to prepare your answers to the questions you will be asked. When you have your answers ready, go to www.grafton-careers.co.uk and either register (if using the system for the first time) or log-on if you are already registered. You can either type the address in your browser window or click the link on the intranet HR and Payroll home page View ALL current vacancies. If you are registering for the first time, there will be a few extra steps you will need to go through. Firstly you ll be asked if you have the right to work in the UK You also be asked to fill out your name and email address and then you ll need to answer yes to the question Do you currently work for us? You ll need to enter your payroll number WITHOUT any zeros at the beginning e.g. if your payroll number is 000099999 you enter 99999. Decide on a password and enter that twice. 1

Once you ve logged in or registered, then you ll need to click on find a job and choose the drop down option of By Job Type. This will then show you Training Core Management programme 2015 and you need to find the programme relevant for your region. Select Training Core Management programme 2015 to find your region. Click on View to select the relevant programme for you. You will be directed to the programme. In case you need another copy, you can find the sample application questions under the documents section. 2

Scroll across and click on Apply. Once you ve clicked apply, make sure you have a copy of your answers to the sample application questions to hand to help you with your application. You will have been sent these if you have attended a webinar or you will be sent them through the general communication for the programme. When you re ready, click on Continue. The first screen will ask you to fill in is your personal details. Once your personal details are all completed, click Save and Continue. If you get options to complete your current employment history, you don t need to do this. If the system won t let you move on without filling these out, simply enter XXXX. If you are requested to upload your CV or provide equal opportunities information, then you can just ignore these. You ll then come to the main application section, which is where you will need to provide your answers to the application questions. You will need to complete all questions before you can submit your application. Remember to save regularly as you are completing the screen. If you have already prepared your answers in Word, then you can simply copy and paste these in. 3

Once you are happy with your completed application, simply press Submit. If you application has been successfully completed, you will see this on the confirmation screen and you will also receive confirmation by email that your application has been submitted. If you want to explore the rest of the careers website, simply click Continue to exit the application process. On your homepage, you should now see confirmation that your application for the programme has been submitted. Any problems with your application. Example application questions for the 2015 Core Management Skills development programme Below is an example of the kind of questions that colleagues will be expected to answer when applying for the 2015 Core Management Skills Programme. The actual questions on the online application form may differ slightly from the below and this is therefore to give an indication only.
