His knowledge of resources and helpfulness of manner in no small way has contributed to the excellent reputation of the Genealogy Division in the family history research field. He has also ably served the Society as Director of Volunteer Coordination for several years. The Fiche Collection Project. DGS acquired 16,500 sheets of microfiche through the Family History Library over a four year period. In the case of many states/counties, we more than doubled or tripled the number of data resources in the Genealogy Division. Thanks to the persistance and dedication of Patrick, card catalog entries for all of the acquired fiche were created and the filing cabinets reorganized so that the fiche are easily retrievable. is looking for someone who is excited about genealogy! The goal of the Dallas Genealogical Society shall be to educate, by creating, fostering, and maintaining interest in genealogy; to assist and support the genealogy section of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in Dallas, Texas, or to its legal successor; and to collect, preserve, copy, and index information relating to Dallas County and its early history. They will soon have an opening for a full-time Library Associate in the Genealogy, History & Social Sciences Division. The job requires a bachelor s degree. Applicants for the job should list their genealogy experience and education on the job application. The Library is hopeful that it will post on Sunday, May 3. The job description will be for a Library Associate, but it will not specify that it is for a Genealogy position. Although the job has not yet been posted, interested candidates should create profiles in NEOGOV so that you will be ready to submit an application for Library Associate when the posting appears. Click the Resources tab on the home page, then Newsletters in the left column. DGS needs your help to complete the collection. We are missing a few issues. If you own any of the issues listed below, please contact webmaster@dallasgenealogy.org to make arrangements to donate or scan them. We will also gladly accept any of the original newsletters published by DGS from 1955 through 1976.
