Flagship Events - CBBC arranged/supported a series of events to promote China-UK cooperation in the Energy sector UK Jan Opportunities & Challenges for Inbound Energy Sector Investments in Europe (London) The seminar focused on the landscape over the coming year for international investors in assessing and investing in opportunities in the Energy Sector in Europe (2016). China China Oil & Gas Assembly and Dinner (Beijing) Sep The Assembly, supported by CBBC, identified and discussed a range of key issues including the future of Chinese oil and gas, renewable energy in China, outbound and inbound M&A and A&D, and energy infrastructure opportunities. (2016). Speakers covered opportunities ranging from conventional power generation, renewable energy sources through to nuclear and network projects. With major initiatives such as One Belt One Road driving inbound investment into Europe, and in view of the 2015 state visit of the Chinese President to the UK, the seminar put special emphasis on the issues for Chinese investments into Europe. Over 300 delegates attended the Assembly representing a variety of high profile companies and organisations, such as Shell, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Sinopec, and Deloitte. Flagship Events - CBBC arranged/supported a series of events to promote China-UK cooperation in the Infrastructure & Property sectors UK Jun The National Infrastructure As part of this annual Forum, CBBC ran a panel discussion on Chinese Investment in UK Infrastructure and Beyond. China Nov 7th UK-China Architecture Forum Topics included The Golden Era Forum (London) of business and investment, how (Guangzhou) to build on the UK s success in China, and increasing Chinese investment into the UK s infrastructure (2016). Organised by CBBC and BritCham Guangdong in association with Arup 4C Salon, this Forum provided attendees with an insight into the future of smart cities. Topics included today s forward-looking smart developments and the importance of joined-up thinking and integration in the creation of smart cities. Key speakers included Wilfred Lau (Director, Arup) (2016). Over 1,000 delegates attended the Forum including representatives of a range of CBBC member companies, such as BAE Systems, Ernst & Young LLP, and Heathrow Airport Limited. Flagship Missions - Providing UK companies routes to the China market through high profile delegations China to UK Flagship Missions UK to China Flagship Missions Offshore wind opportunities in China and Taiwan (Aberdeen) May CBBC and UKTI organised this event to highlight offshore wind opportunities in China and Taiwan. Participants examined a range of topics including plans and policies for offshore wind projects in China and Taiwan and opportunities for UK companies to get involved (2016). China Wind Power 2016 (Beijing) Oct This event is the largest international wind power conference and exhibition in China. CBBC and UKTI led a delegation of companies to participate in a series of meetings and workshops based around the event. (2016). Speakers included Mike Hay (UKTI s China Offshore Wind Specialist) and Lynn Li MBE (UKTI s Head of Infrastructure, based in Taiwan). Delegates had the opportunity to promote their products, services and technologies at the UK Pavilion. Several hundred companies were represented at the event and keynote speakers included Steve Sawyer (Secretary General of the Global Wind Energy Council) and Liu Qi (Deputy General Manager at Shanghai Electric. Co. Ltd). Following President Xi s State Visit, a UK-China agreement on offshore wind collaboration was signed. CBBC and UKTI will continue to work to maximise China-UK cooperation in this area. One Belt One Road (OBOR) - CBBC is working hard to place the UK at the forefront of the OBOR initiative (1/3) Belt and Road Summit (Hong Kong) OBOR Seminar (Guangdong) Working in partnership with BritCham Hong Kong, CBBC Chief Executive Stephen Phillips participated in the Summit in Hong Kong with a delegation of more than a dozen UK companies. CBBC received a special acknowledgement from the Summit and signed a memorandum of understanding with HKTDC to further cooperation between the two organisations (May 2016). CBBC organised this Seminar with the Guangdong International Chamber of Commerce. Panel discussions were held between firms already working on Belt and Road-related projects, including Arup, Atkins and Mott MacDonald in the construction field, and Aviva-Cofco and KPMG in professional services. Ninety people attended the Seminar (June 2016). Over 1000 delegates attended the Summit including representatives of CBBC members such as McKinsey & Company, Standard Chartered Bank, Jardine Matheson Holdings Limited, and John Swire & Sons. One Belt One Road (OBOR) - CBBC is working hard to place the UK at the forefront of the OBOR initiative (2/3) Belt and Road Seminar (Xiamen) Partnership with the Hong Kong Infrastructure Financing Facilitation Office (IFFO) CBBC cooperated with the Xiamen Bureau of Commerce and the local branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade to host a seminar on the Belt and Road initiative, at which CBBC's Belt and Road Case Studies Report was officially launched in this region (Sep 2016). CBBC was delighted to announce its partnership with the IFFO. The partnership is the product of shared common interests and objectives to deepen HK-UK cooperation, the two key markets where there is a depth of expertise and potential to serve OBOR (Oct 2016). Speaking at the seminar, Tracy Cheng, vice-president of London & Partners (a CBBC member company), introduced the significant role London has to play in the Belt and Road initiative. CBBC and The IFFO are proud to forge stronger relations in helping create opportunities for their members in relation to OBOR. Both parties expressed their intent to work together towards their shared objectives over the coming months and years. The Outline for 2017 - Events and initiatives in the Energy, Environment & Infrastructure sector World Alliance of Low Carbon Cities Forum (Sanya, Hainan, 18-19 May) National Infrastructure Forum 2017 (ExCeL London, 13 June) Sustainable Silk Routes (Edinburgh 4-5 October) CBBC is helping to pull together a Belt & Road panel in collaboration with Tsinghua Shenzhen Graduate School The Forum will attract around 1,500 people. CBBC will manage and run a dedicated panel discussion focusing on One Belt One Road CBBC will host a 2-day conference looking at the low-carbon implementation of the Belt & Road Initiative Feb May June Sep Oct UK-China Marine Energy Forum (Qingdao / Zhoushan, 6-8 February) The Forum provided opportunities to meet stakeholders in the marine energy sector including SOEs, private companies, research institutions, and key policy makers Offshore Wind Energy 2017 (ExCeL London, 6-8 June) CBBC will manage and support an inbound delegation of Chinese offshore wind supply chain companies to visit the UK during this time China Reception @SPE Offshore Europe (Aberdeen, 7 September) CBBC will host key Chinese exhibitors and interested UK companies to a China Reception on the sidelines of SPE Offshore Europe Note: for more information - http://www.cbbc.org/whatson/events/ 10

Case Study - CBBC worked to strengthen UK-China ties in the marine energy sector (1/2) Strategic Prosperity Fund Project - Establishing a China Marine Energy Centre (1/2) Sector Background Marine energy was given a boost after being included in China s 13th Five Year Plan, which featured a commitment to achieve a cumulative installed ocean capacity of over 50 MW Project Background & Key Objective A Strategic Prosperity Fund Project is being supported by CBBC and the FCO to help develop a demonstration site for wave and tidal technology in China, to develop a Chinese version of the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) Key Stakeholders Key China government policy makers Prominent state-owned enterprises Innovative private sector companies Leading universities and research institutions 11

Case Study - CBBC worked to strengthen UK-China ties in the marine energy sector (2/2) Strategic Prosperity Fund Project - Establishing a China Marine Energy Centre (2/2) CBBC in association with EMEC supported a series of key events to promote marine energy innovation links between the UK and China October 2016 - Orkney Workshop on marine energy which took place in Orkney in October 2016 December 2016 - Aoshan Forum - Qingdao Aoshan Forum on Marine Energy at Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology in December 2016 February 2017 - Qingdao & Zhoushan Marine Energy Mission to China in February 2017. This Mission visited Qingdao and Zhoushan and provided opportunities to meet stakeholders in the marine energy sector including prominent State Owned Enterprises, innovative private companies, leading research institutions, and key policy makers 12
