President s Corner Well, here we go again! Another new year. The first order of business this year is for me to say "Thank You!" Thank you to all of the members who have supported me and the club. Thank you to the board members who donate their considerable skills to help make the club work. And thank you to all of the volunteers who bring it all together each month - without the newsletter, the finds table, to raffle tables or the food & drink committee and others, this club would be up a creek with out a paddle. In addition, a really big part of what we do is the result of the activity committee (she knows who she is) Thank YOU!! With the New Year comes a new opportunity for all of us to grow in this hobby we share. The Central Florida Metal Detecting Club has managed to expand while increasing member activity through out the year. The thanks goes out to all of you for getting involved. The past year was a year that I personally did some learning about the operations of the club and the interaction with the members. I hope continuing member involvement can get us up and running for the New Year. With a little luck and a lot of help from you and the other board members, I will do my best to try and guide the club toward another successful year. Input from each of you will help set the goals for these years activities. Please take the time to let one of us know what you would like to accomplish and how the club can fulfill as many of your expectations as possible. See you at the next meeting. Alan CRUISE Carnival Dream September 3-10, 2011 It isn't too late to sign up for the Cruise on the Carnival Dream September 3-10, 2011. We have extended the time to place a $50 deposit per person to mid-january. We have six people signed up so far and have secured a beach in Rotan for a hunt. Our contact who lives in Rotan advises he has never seen anyone hunt this beach before. We are working at this time to secure beaches at the other ports. For more information, contact David Gray at 407-831-3560 or dwgrayfl@aol.com. Secretary s Report Debbie Green CFMDC Meeting Notes The December meeting of the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by club president Alan James. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Bill Green. Secretary report read and accepted Treasurer report read and accepted Birthdays and Anniversaries Awards Ralph Flippo, completion of Level 4 challenge Break for holiday meal and finds voting Club Elections for 2011 Alan James requested the election committee report. George Case committee called members requesting nominations and volunteers for the board positions. The nominations received were for the current board members. Alan James request for nominations from the floor and received none. Request for a motion from the floor. Motion - Debra Green, A motion is put forward bto sustain the current 2010 Central Florida Metal Detecting Club board members to serve in the same board capacity for 2011. Motion voted upon and passed. The CFMDC club officers for 2011 will be: Alan James, President Bill Shackelford, Vice-President Bill Green, Second Vice-President Debbie Green, Secretary Chuck Hosbein, Treasurer Alan James The 2011 cruise deadline for deposits has passed. Per a phone conversation earlier this week, David Gray does not have enough reservations for the contract. Unfortunately Mr. Gray is not here tonight to provide us with an update and discuss possible next steps. Comments have been put forward to the president that a deposit eleven months in advance is too long an advance time. If the current cruise plan does not come to pass, perhaps the interested CFMDC and Daytona Club

members could individually book reservations on the same cruise. Those familiar with hunting in the islands can give us additional advice. Wes Wade Volunteered to keep working on the cruise project and report back to the club as information is available. Debra Green Secretary Central Florida Metal Detecting Club New Members none Lorrie Sprigg Holiday Gift Exchange The first person to choose a gift will have the opportunity to exchange their gift for any gift in the room at the end of the evening. For extra fun, a gift wrapped in silver with twinkling lights on the top can be taken an unlimited number of times and will be opened last. Frank Rothery was the first person to choose and he declined the final exchange. Bill Robinson won the mystery gift - liquor flavored specialty chocolates. Alan James - The Name Tag Drawing and 50/50 Drawing are cancelled for the December meeting in lieu of the holiday party festivities. The awarding of the following monthly finds is deferred to the January meeting due to the length of this evening s party.
