The competition is executed through a partnership between the City, the Art League of Lincoln, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Lincoln Association. Calling All Artists The City of Lincoln is accepting Mural Concept Art submissions from artists throughout North America for its Art in Public Spaces Mural Competition. Artists and their mural proposals will be selected for permanent installation in beautiful Historic Downtown Lincoln, California. A materials honorarium will be provided to the selected artists based on each mural site. Selected artists will then create their murals and compete for award money and the people s choice award. Award announcements and people s choice award voting will take place at Lincoln s Showcase Event on September 23, 2017. submission guidelines Submit your Mural Concept Art by June 12, 2017 at www.all4art.net/mural $25 Entry Fee 1 SELECT YOUR MURAL SITE OR SITES Six different mural sites in the heart of downtown Lincoln have been identified for this year s competition. Each site has its own set of parameters and installation requirements. The details for each site are included within these call instructions. Design your concept to work within those parameters. Pay close attention to each site s installation method. Some sites require painting on the building itself and, if you are selected, you will need to be able to paint on location. Other sites require painting on panels that will be installed onto the building by the City and, if you are selected, you will need to be able to work on those panels at your home studio or space. Also pay attention to the physical features of each site and how you might incorporate them into your concept. Page 2 of 12

2 CREATE YOUR CONCEPT ARTWORK Power up that imagination and show us your ideas. Create your concept artwork. The selection committee will need to be able to clearly see the closest representation of the final mural that you are able to create. Your artistic style and skill should be clearly represented. (Rough sketches, methods not possible at mural scale, and clip art are not acceptable.) Pay attention to your site guidelines so that you are creating a concept that fits the parameters of theme and application. Some sites have multiple options. Most sites are open to artist s interpretation, however, Lincoln area history may give you some inspiration and a good launch point can be found online at www.lincolnca.gov/about-lincoln/history. Since the forum is public art, keep in mind an audience of all ages. Site guidelines may be subject to change so confirm that you have the most current instructions before finalizing your art - visit www.all4art.net/mural Once you ve created your concept artwork scan or photograph it so that you are able to submit.jpg files into the online entry submission system. When photographing your art, make sure it is shot head on, without perspective, and that your lighting is even. While not necessary, you may wish to superimpose your concept art onto a photograph of the mural site using photo software. You may submit up to three.jpg files for each concept. For example, an overall image, a close up image, and site image for context. At a minimum you should submit one overall image of your concept. Each.jpg image should have a minimum resolution of 1900 pixels in the longest dimension. You may submit concept artwork for 1, 2, or 3 mural sites of your choosing for the same entry fee amount of $25. 3 SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY ONLINE You will need to submit your concept art along with your information and entry fee using our online entry system.
