TRAINEESHIP NOTICE Ref. EMSA/TRAINEESHIP/2019/01 The Eurpean Maritime Safety Agency ffers traineeships fr a perid f at least 3 mnths and at mst 6 mnths. The traineeship prgram aims t prvide trainees with wrk experience in the field f maritime safety legislatin, respnse t pllutin at sea and cperatin amng member states in safety at sea matters. Inservice training enables trainees t acquire practical experience by means f their wrk and put int practice the knwledge they have acquired during their academic studies r prfessinal careers. Detailed infrmatin related t the activities and structure f the Eurpean Maritime Safety Agency can be fund by visiting the EMSA website at http://www.emsa.eurpa.eu. Frm the publicatin f this call, EMSA envisages t select nine trainees. The starting date f the traineeships is 1 st March 2019 and finishing date is 31 st August 2019. Mre infrmatin abut the selectin prcedure as well as the rights and duties f the trainees can be fund in the Decisin N 2016/036 f the Executive Directr relating t the rules gverning the traineeship scheme f EMSA. The trainees will be awarded a mnthly grant f 969.71 and a travel allwance as indicated in the abve mentined decisin, if applicable. Unit B.1.2 Standards fr Seafarers Respnsible fr visits and inspectins, in Member States and third Cuntries, under Directive 2008/106/EC. B.1.2 is als respnsible fr the maintenance and the enhancement f the STCW-IS, the infrmatin system which stres infrmatin n certificates and endrsements f recgnitin, and fr the assistance t the Cmmissin and the Member States n STCW, ILO and human element related issues. The wrk invlves becming familiarised with the requirements established in the STCW Cnventin and in the related Directives. In additin, the trainee will becme familiarised with the methdlgy used t cnduct the visits and inspectins as well as with the methds used t deliver training. Page 2 f 6

Unit B.2.1 Ship Safety & Marine Equipment This Unit prvides technical advice t the Member States and the Eurpean Cmmissin in the implementatin and develpment f EU legislatin cncerning marine equipment and ship safety standards. It assists the Cmmissin and the Member States n varius subjects related t passenger ship safety, fishing vessels, bulk carrier safety, safety management and the certificatin f marine equipment. The activity includes tasks such as; supprting the Member States and the Cmmissin fr wrk at the IMO n matters f EU cmpetence, cmmissining studies (e.g. n the acceptable and practicable risk level f passenger ships related t damage stability) r supervising the MarED database f EU apprved equipment. Supprt the implementatin and audit f the V&I QMS; Assisting with the update f QMS dcuments; Assisting with the preparatin f the internal and external audits; Assisting with the preparatin f training material; Supprting mnitring and evaluatin f prcess s effectiveness; Assisting with recrds keeping; Attentin t detail Structured and meticulus Patient Diplma required: Degree in Maritime and/r management related area. Unit B.3.1 Training and Cperatin This Unit prvides training and technical assistance t EU Members States, Iceland and Nrway thrugh seminars, training sessins, sharing best practices and e-learning with the bjective t further imprve the effective and harmnised implementatin f relevant EU maritime legislatin. This includes the training fr PSC Officers within the Paris MU regin as mentined in Directive 200916/EC. B.3.1 als prvides training and technical assistance t Enlargement cuntries and t the beneficiary cuntries f the Eurpean Neighburing Plicy (ENP) thrugh SAFEMED III and TRACECA II. Unit C.2.2 Maritime Supprt Services The MSS prvides a 24/7 peratinal and technical service with respnsibility fr ensuring systems availability and stability by mnitring the cntinuity f the incming and utging data flws, quality reprting and incident management linked with all Agency maritime applicatins. In the event f maritime emergencies the MSS acts as a single pint f cntact fr mbilisatin f EMSA peratinal services, and will reprt t EMSA and the Cmmissin n maritime accidents in accrdance with the EMSA cntingency plan. The nging develpment f the services is triggered thrugh liaising with stakehlders, cllecting and translating their business/data requirements int functinal specificatins. Users include EFCA, EUNAVFOR-Atalanta, EUNAVFOR-Sphia, Frntex, MAOC-N and the SafeMed and Tracea Cperatin Prgrammes.
