Maycomb Daily By: Josie Plamondon Black Man Found Guilty of Rape Black man Tom was accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Mayella claimed that she was sitting on her porch when walked by. Mayella asked to come and help her bust up a sufero. She claimed had grabbed her by the throat and punched her again and again and raped her. She said that Mr. Ewell heard her screaming and chased away. She has bruising on the right side of her face and body. When was questioned he said that he can t use his left arm because of an accident that happened when he was young. He claimed that he busted up the sefero and went home. Every day he walked past her house she found something for him to do. One day he went to her house and she invited him inside to fix a door. When he got inside he said she tried kissing him on the lips and said she had never kissed a real man before. Tom claimed that he did not kiss her back. Mr. Ewell saw what happened and yelled at Mayella and said he was going to beat her for kissing a black. Then supposedly ran. Tom was found guilty and was placed in jail.tom tried escaping the jail and was shot 17 times by a security guard and was killed.

Maycomb Daily 3 Tom On the evening of July 9th 1935, we lost a kind, respectable person. Tom was 35 years old when he was accused of rape and placed in jail where he tried to escape and was shot 17 times and killed. He lived with his wife Helen and his 3 children. Tom was kind to everyone, even if they weren't to him. He always did what he thought was right. When he helped Mayella he did it because he felt sorry for her and he knew that was the right thing to do. Tom will be missed by everyone who knew him. His kindness will be remembered forever. Boo Radley Seen Outside of House 10 year old Scout Fitch, 13 year old Jem Fitch, and 40 year old Atticus Fitch claimed to have seen Boo Radley outside of his house. When Boo was a young boy he was cutting magazines when his father walked past his he stabbed his father right in the leg with the scissors. His mother ran out of the house screaming telling everyone that Boo was trying to kill them. He was placed in an asylum for a few years until his father took him back. Boo was placed in the house and was never seen again. Scout, Jem, and Atticus claimed to have seen Boo walking around the neighborhood on Monday.
4 Maycomb Daily Power Outage People of Maycomb should be aware that on Saturday they will be checking the street lights so if your power goes out don't be alarmed and it should be on soon after. Prices continue to go up. Gas is now 10 cents for a gallon, a loaf of bread is 7 cents, and a pound of hamburger meat is 10 cents.
