Mounting Depth: Measure the Mounting-Depth for your rack from the front of the Front-Mounting-Surface to the back of the Back-Mounting-Surface (see the figure below). 4Post Cabinet Double 2Post FRONT REAR FRONT REAR MOUNTING DEPTH MOUNTING DEPTH Step 2. Depth Range: Locate your Mounting-Depth in the table below. Step 2a. Range A: Remove and reverse the two rear brackets. Adjust the Rear Brackets on both rails to match your rack s Mounting Depth. Keep the two screws and nuts (pre-installed) as far apart as possible. Tighten all screws. Rear Bracket Rear Attachment for Range A: Attach the back of the rails as shown below. The rail should be centered vertically with the 2U space required by the server. Attach (1) Rack Arm Bracket using (2) 8-32 x 5/16 screws (gold) and (2) 8-32 nuts. Tighten all screws. Rack Attachment Hardware is provided for square hole racks (12-24 Screw + Cage Nut), threaded hole racks (10-32 or 12-24 screws), or unthreaded hole racks (12-24 screws and nuts). Tighten all screws. Rear Bracket Rear Attachment for Range B: Attach the back of the rails as shown below. The rail should be centered vertically with the 2U space required by the server. Attach (1) Short Rear Bracket and the rear of the rail using the same screws. Attach (1) Rack Arm Bracket using (2) 8-32 x 5/16 screws (gold) and (2) 8-32 nuts. Tighten all screws. Rack Attachment Hardware is provided for square hole racks (12-24 Screw + Cage Nut), threaded hole racks (10-32 or 12-24 screws), or unthreaded hole racks (12-24 screws and nuts). Tighten all screws. Step 2c. Range C: Adjust the Rear Brackets on both rails to match your rack s Mounting Depth. Keep the two screws and nuts (pre-installed) as far apart as possible. Tighten all screws. Rear Bracket Rear Attachment for Range C: Attach the back of the rails as shown below. The rail should be centered vertically with the 2U space required by the server. Attach (1) Rack Arm Bracket and the rear of the rail using the Rack Attachment Hardware (see below). Tighten all screws. Rack Attachment Hardware is provided for square hole racks (12-24 Screw + Cage Nut), threaded hole racks (10-32 or 12-24 screws), or unthreaded hole racks (12-24 screws and nuts). Tighten all screws. Step 3. Front Rail Attachment: Attach the front of the rails as shown below. The rail should be centered vertically with the 2U space required by the server. Rack Attachment Hardware is provided for square hole racks (12-24 Screw + Cage Nut), threaded hole racks (10-32 or 12-24 screws), or unthreaded hole racks (12-24 screws and nuts). Tighten all screws. Step 4. Install Server: Install the server onto the rails per the IBM Installation Instructions. Be sure to follow all safety guidelines. Before proceeding, ensure both locks are engaged on the sides of the chassis. Step 5. Chassis Arm Bracket: The server must be installed before completing this step. Attach (1) Chassis Arm Bracket using (2) 8-32 x 1/4 screws (silver). Tighten all screws. Note: If you install the server in the top of the rack or directly under another server or device, install the cable-management arm on the chassis arm bracket before attaching the chassis arm bracket to the slide rail. Note: This solution will not support the cable management arm in some shorter depth racks.
