What a wonderful January meeting we had, it was a great meal thanks to the refreshment committee. I always enjoy the social time. The quilts from the Mystery workshop were beautiful. It is always fun to see everyone s quilt because they look so different even though they are from the same pattern. Thank you so much Anne Aubrey for calling our Quilto. It was a lot of fun! Don t forget our UFO days February 12-15. It would be a good time to work on projects that you want to complete, plus good fellowship. The organization meeting for 2016 Quilt Show will be February 26 th at the Extension office project room at 6:30pm. It you are unable to come and would like to chair an area or help please let me know. Our next monthly meeting is February 24th; See you there! Refunds are only given with a 7 day notice of cancellation. The Paducah Bus Trip April is just around the corner and so is Paducah. Half of the seats have been claimes and there are still 24 seats open. The sign up sheet for the bus to Paducah will be available at the meeting. To reserve your seat you must pay a deposit of $25.00, which (if you worked the quilt show) will be refunded to you the day of the trip. Your seat will be reserved with your payment. Meeting Minutes from January Minutes of Stitchers Quilt Meeting January 27, 2016 Social Time with Refreshments 6:30 7:00 and the meeting was called to order by President Darlene Chenault at 7:00. Thank you to Refreshment committee Sharon Whitfield, Susan Byers, Veronica Culberson, Ava Allen, Kathy Conway, Barbara, Jeffries, Kathy Cravens and Teresa Jenkins. We had three guests Lynda Griffin, Mikayla Kennedy, and Pansy Fair. Minutes were presented in the Newsletter and were on the tables. Motion was made by Ramona Peterson to approve minutes and seconded by Teresa Jenkins, Passed. Treasurer report was presented in the Newsletter Treasurer Margot VanLengen stated the report was out of balance by $.50 due to the check order price increasing by the $.50 and will be filed for audit. 1 st Vice President Martha Claycomb - out of town 2 nd Vice President Patty Pruitt/Pat McMillian discussed the UFO weekend February 12-15; March Applique Workshop with Susan McCombs; April Mariner s Compass with Kelly Pruitt - pattern available at Dixie s, April 23 rd bus trip to Paducah; May Thread Play workshop with Beth Hunter; June Quilter s Accessory Weekend will include five items. Sonja s Windows Workshop June 30 th with Candace Hassen. Pat stated she has 17 Veterans quilts turned in so far. Secretary Judy Applegate out of town Treasurer Margot VanLengen The proposed Budget was presented in the Newsletter, motion by Patty Pruitt to accept as presented, seconded by Beth Hunter. Passed Patty Pruitt stated the workshops in June will have five instructors she would need to pay each $25. Since this is a onetime thing we need to have the membership s approval. Barbara Jeffries made the motion to approve paying each instructor $25, seconded by Pat McMillian. Passed Old Business: Refreshment Committee more people signed up for February, it is now covered Bus trip to Paducah Pat McMillian covered during VP report Quilts for Veterans Pat McMillian covered during VP report New Business: Hannah Myers forwarded an email to Darlene from Tracy Murray for a possible donation of a Treadle Sewing machine for Zambia, Africa for $150. A motion was made by Sharon Whitfield to donation $150 for one machine, seconded by Ava Allen. Passed Announcements: The Cozy Quilter, Busy Lady & One Stop Shop Hop of the Bluegrass will have Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Co. for a lecture and Trunk Show October 15 th at Paroquet Springs Conference Center in Shepherdsville. If you are interested Darlene will forward you the email. Reminder- Collect pull tabs for St Jude and medicine bottles (take the label off) will be sent to Ghana to put there medicine in to distribute to patients. Darlene has large fall leaves that were left during the November meeting. If they are yours please let her know, so she may give them to you. A thank you card was received from Feeding America for the clubs donation.

Minutes continued... A Parliamentarian has been appointed by President Darlene Chenault Marilyn Smith and she has a Robert rule book. In the News: The News Enterprise had a picture of the group from Retreat showing the table runners and another showing Pat Nahal showing her UFO quilt. Door Prizes: Won by Linda Griffiths and Darlene Chenault Show and Tell: The Mystery workshop tops were shown by 9 members. We had 12 members show there quilts. Patty showed the quilt she first planned for the Mystery workshop (Better with Cheddar), but was tedious, so she changed it. If you would like the pattern just email Patty. WORKSHOPS U- F(FUN)-O WEEKEND-Mark your calendars and dig out those unfinished projects or bring one you've been wanting to start. Stitcher's have the room reserved at the extension office from 9:00 AM Friday, 12 Feb until 9:00 PM on Monday, 15 Feb. You can come anytime after9:00 on Friday, set up your work area, and then come and go as needed over the weekend. A UFO Weekend is a great way to work on a project without the normal distractions we encounter if working at home (you know - phone - kids - cooking!) There will be some fun activities as well as door prizes throughout the weekend. No meals will be provided so this is a great chance to have lunch out with your quilt friends and relax! Mariner's Compass Workshop -with Kelly Pruitt. Sign ups have begun for this workshop with Kelly. Dates are 15-16 April and the cost is $15.00. This includes Friday dinner and lunch on Saturday. Patterns can be purchased at Sew Much More for $29.50 plus tax. A supply list is available. Thread Play -with Beth Hunter will be held Friday, 13 May and Saturday, 14 May. Cost is $15.00 to include Friday dinner and lunch on Saturday. Make sure to mark your calendars for a special workshop in June. Candace Hassen from Atlanta will be teaching a workshop for the guild on THURSDAY, June 30th called "Sonja's Windows" Sign up will begin at the Feb meeting. Cost is $10.00 which includes pattern for the class. "Quilter's Accessories" Workshop -June 10-11 will be a fun workshop, where you will have the opportunity to make 5 different items that will assist you in your quilting. One project will be taught Friday night and then 4 more offered on Saturday. The cost is $5.00 for one workshop or $20.00 for all 5. No meals will be provided that weekend. Samples and sign up will be available at the March meeting. Mark your calendars. You won't want to miss this. DATE CHANGE. We have changed dates for the October workshop. New dates for the Braided Quilt with Pat McMillian is 21-22 Oct. Please mark this change on your Calendar of Events. To sign up or if you have any questions or concerns regarding workshops please contact either Patty Pruitt or Pat McMillian. Meeting Activities The February meeting activity will be a Tablerunner Demo and Video. The January activity featured Quilto with Ann Aubrey entertaining, uh calling! Parliamentarian Marilyn Smith has agreed to be our Parliamentarian to assist us with proper procedures at the meetings. Out Guild operates under the Rule of Robert, and she has been studying up!!!

Mystery Resolved! The January Mystery led by Patty Pruitt was a fun workshop with plenty of food and friendship!

If there is a cancellation of workshop/meeting it Charity/ Veteran Quilts We have 24 completed "Veteran" quilts as of the January meeting. Thank you to all who have participated in this great project. In my (Pat McMillian) family alone three men have served their country for 86 yrs. Please consider coming to the UFO weekend at the Extension office to piece a small lap quilt. If you cannot quilt it several people who have longarm machines have offered to do it for no charge. The quilt should measure no larger than 36x48 and colors Gender Neutral. Be sure to put a label on the quilt to include the name of the quilt, the guild, the makers name and city, along with the date made.
