Addendum To Tender No. 1 PROJECT NAME: PROJECT ADDRESS: ISSUED TO: Richmond Speed Skating 6080 River Road, Richmond, BC INVITED BIDDERS ISSUE DATE: May 16, 2008 The following supersedes the information contained in the original drawings and specifications issued in the tender for this Project only to the extent specifically or by reasonable inference referenced and shall become a part thereof. No consideration will be given to claims for extras or extensions of the time for completion of the Work due to the failure of the successful bidder to incorporate in its bid the items set out in this Addendum. Please see attached Additional Instructions to issed by Karo dated May 14, 2008. 2. Please see attached WS303 which provides details for sign type 13. 3. On drawing WS302, there is a typo: "Visitor Info Centrel". This should read "Visitor Info Centre". 4. For sign type 5, note that there is a discrepancy between the quantity shown on drawing WS002 and Page 3 of Specification Section 10440. The quantity should read 144. 5. Please refer to Section 01110 Summary of Work item 1.2.3.1 for this clarification. Note that it is expected that a separate mobilization to site will be required to install the signage that will be required to achieve the Partial Occupancy Permit on September 1, 2008. Introduction The accompanying drawings and outline specifications describe the requirements and the design intent for a system of wayfinding and signage for the interior of the new (ROO). The signage and graphics described are intended to greet, inform and direct visitors within the new ROO. 2. General All messages images and final placement of text/symbols/graphics are to be verified by The City of Richmond (COR). The font used for text is Frutiger Bold as specified. Shop drawings are to be provided to COR and Karo for approval prior to fabrication. Samples of all materials and finishes are to be provided. All construction and installation must match the materials and visual appearance of the approved samples. 3. Scope of Work The client, COR, is looking for fixed unit prices for the sign types identified in the drawing package (refer to the drawing numbers). The contractor should base their total price on the estimated quantities set out on WS-002. The final quantities ordered should not affect the unit price quoted. The unit prices are to include all related work, including:

Page 3 Scope of Work continued Provision of one (1) suspended primary directional sign Sign A (2,130 mm width) to be made as a mock-up for approvals prior to full production. Fabrication and installation to approved locations. Liaison and coordination of final messaging, directional arrows, symbols/pictograms etc. with COR and Karo. Provision of proof of liability insurance. WCB and other requirements of job site. Permits, where required. 4. Schedule Refer to Tender Package T.3263. 5. Drawing & Electronic Artwork The drawings have been prepared by Karo Design Vancouver Inc. as part of a comprehensive wayfinding program. Electronic copies of the drawings and digital files are available, if required during the bid period. Please provide Karo with written questions or clarifications (contact: Graham Walker (604) 255-6100, Fax: (604) 255-3800, or Email: gwalker@karo.com) during the bid period. 6. Quality of Installation COR is looking for a system of wayfinding and signage appropriate to the rigors and operation of a contemporary public environment. Materials and finishes must be selected to be durable and meet regular commercial cleaning requirements. Resistance to colour fade and exposure to UV is critical. A lifespan of 10+ years is desired. The quality of fit, finish and mounting must stand up to a busy, high-use environment. 7. Siteplans Architectural siteplans are available for the new complex. The successful proponent will be provided with electronic

Page 4 files suitable for coordinating the final messaging and placement of signs.

Page 5 8. Subcontractors All subcontractors should be identified in the tender submission. 9. Site Examination shall make a careful examination of the site and existing conditions and investigate and satisfy themselves as to all matters relating to the signage work to be under taken which are necessary for the completion of the signage work and the conditions under which it will perform. The client and Karo do not guarantee site information indicated in the tender package and bidders must evaluate such information relative to actual site conditions. Wearing of steel toe shoes and hard hats are mandatory are invited to attend this tour. Representatives of the client and Karo will be in attendance. 10. Tender Submission Refer to Tender Package T.3263.

Page 6 11. General Notes a) Shop Drawings Shop drawings (3 duplicate copies) to be provided for review and approval prior to fabrication. Adjustments made on shop drawings by the consultant are not intended to change the contract price. If adjustments affect the value of work, state such in writing to the consultant prior to proceeding with the work. b) Samples Prior to the placement of any orders, the supplier is to submit to the consultant for review, samples in (3 duplicate sets). Label samples as to origin and intended use in the work. Deliver samples prepaid to consultant s business address. Notify consultant in writing, at the time of submission of deviations in samples from requirements of contract documents. Adjustments made on samples by the consultant are not intended to change the contract price. If adjustments affect the value of work, state such in writing to the consultant prior to proceeding with the work. Make changes in samples, which the consultant may require, consistent with contract documents. Provide samples of all materials, finishes and colours (paint draw downs ) for review and approval prior to fabrication. c) Hardware & Fasteners Contractor must submit a detailed hardware schedule for the designer s approval prior to ordering hardware. General Notes continued. d) Schedule & Approvals Submit also at this time evidence of when approved orders will be placed and delivery dates so as to indicate the

Page 7 correct material will be delivered to the site as per required schedule. Failure of on-site work to match approved samples will be cause for rejection of work. This contractor will be required to expedite replacement of all rejected work and make good in compliance with the owner s approved signage installation schedule at no additional cost to owner. All final messages and placement of text, graphics, etc., will be coordinated between the Karo, the Owner and the Fabricator. e) Signage Contractor, at its expense, to provide: Careful coordination and placement of electronic files and layout indicated in design documents. Evidence of receipt of appropriate sign permits, structural and electrical engineering approvals and other appropriate local municipal requirements. Detailed shop drawings for review and approval prior to fabrication. Detail message / artwork layout of each sign for review and approval prior to fabrication. All construction and installation to meet appropriate standards, codes and industry practices such as CSA, etc. All supports, concrete bases, anchor and attachment hardware to generally be designed to 4X static load and to meet final engineering (both structural and seismic requirements including provision of a letter of assurance for signage installation seismic restraint by a registered professional engineer) Careful and timely coordination with other trades for providing power, hole and attachment patterns, backing, weight and load of wall mounted signs, etc.
