Making Block A: 1. Cut all 4-7/8" Fabric B triangles in half on the diagonal. Sew a Fabric B triangle to opposite sides of a 6-1/8" Fabric A square. Repeat on remaining sides of Fabric A square (Fig. 1). Make 8 A/B squares. 2. Sew a 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" Fabric C strip to opposite sides of a Fabric A/B square (Fig. 2). Make 8 Block A. Making Block B: 3. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all 2-1/2" Fabric E squares. Sew a 2-1/2" Fabric E square on the diagonal to opposite corners of a 4-1/2" Fabric D square. Trim 1/4" from stitched line, fold out and press. Trim away and discard excess fabric. Repeat on remaining sides of Fabric D square (Fig. 3). Make 7 E/D squares. 4. Sew a Fabric E square on the diagonal to left and right corners of a 4-1/2" Fabric F square. Trim 1/4" from stitched line, fold out and press. Trim away and discard excess fabric. (Fig. 4). Make 14 E/F squares. 5. Sew a Fabric E/F square to opposite sides of a Fabric E/D square (Fig. 5). Make 7 D/E/F strips. 6. Sew a Fabric E square on the diagonal to right side of a 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" Fabric F rectangle. Trim 1/4" from stitched line, fold out and press. Trim away and discard excess fabric. Repeat, sewing a Fabric E square to left side of a Fabric F rectangle. Sew E/F rectangles together as shown (Fig. 6). Make 14 E/F strips. 7. Cut all 2-7/8" Fabric B triangles in half on the diagonal. Cut all 5-1/4" Fabric B triangles in half on the diagonal twice to yield 4 triangles. Sew one of these triangles to top of a Fabric B/F strip. There will be two triangles left over (Fig. 8). Make 14 B/F triangle units. 9. Assemble units from Steps 7 and 8 together as shown. Cut all 6-7/8" Fabric G squares in half on the diagonal. Attach to opposite sides of sewn triangle units (Fig. 9). Make 14 triangle units. 10. Sew sewn triangle units to opposite sides of Step 5 units to complete the block (Fig. 10). Make 7 Block B. Assembling the Quilt: NOTE: Refer to the Quilt Assembly Diagram to assemble the quilt top center. 11. Alternate sewing 3 Block A units to 2 Block B units to create a vertical side row. Sew a 4-1/2" x 12-1/2" Fabric H rectangle to top and bottom of sewn blocks. Repeat to make 2 vertical side rows. 12. Alternate sewing 2 Block A units to 3 Block B units. Make 1 vertical center row. Sew left and right rows to center row to complete the quilt center. 13. Sew 4-1/2" x 64-1/2" Fabric H strips to opposite sides of quilt center. page 4
