Interface Description UNIT INTERFACE DESCRIPTION ODU IDU Antennas Outdoor unit (ODU) with integrated or external antenna option. LAN Port LAN LEDs DC and AC Power In E1 Ports ODU Port LED Behavior RJ-45 Connector INDICATOR COLOR Allows connecting the device to a wired network. Provides connection through Cat5e/optical fiber cables, depending on the model. Indicates the working status. Power jack which allows external DC/AC power supply connection. Allows WAN connectivity. PoE port for connecting to the ODU unit. Standard type of connector for network cables. STATUS IDU PWR Green IDU is powered-up. IDU Green and blinking IDU is operational. ODU PWR Green ODU is powered-up. AIR I/F Green ODU air interface operational. ODU Green ODU-to-IDU communication link is up and ODU is operational. Caution and Warnings Internal settings, adjustment, maintenance, and repairs should be performed only by a skilled technician who is aware of the hazards involved. Do not tightly secure the ODU to its mounting brackets until the alignment process of the antenna is complete. Before installing an ODU, make sure it is disconnected from power. Check that there are no direct obstructions or interferences in front of ODU when installing the ODU. 3

Supply the appropriate AC/DC power to the equipment. Incorrect AC/DC power settings can damage the equipment and may cause injury to the user. Avoid standing in front of a live ODU. This radio requires clear LOS (Line-of-Site) for operation. Do not look into the waveguide port of an ODU (if applicable) when the radio is active. Before connecting any cable, the protective earth terminals of the AC/DC adapter must be connected to the protective ground conductor of the mains power cord. If you are using an extension cord (power cable) make sure it is grounded as well. Make sure that both master and slave sites are assigned different IP addresses before they are installed. Do not connect or disconnect the cables during the period of lightning. ODU s must be attached to a properly grounded structure and installed masts must be grounded to provide protection against lightning. 2. Installing Integrated Antenna PBX IDU (8-E1) DC Power Input STEP 1 Mount ODU on the pole or mast with the help of mounting brackets. STEP 2 Connect the ground cable to the chassis point on the ODU. STEP 3 Attach the ODU cable to the RJ-45 connector. STEP 4 Secure the cables to the mast or brackets using UV-rated cable ties. STEP 5 Repeat the procedure at the slave site. inote: For more details about the required components for ODU installation and the detailed procedure for mounting the ODU on a mast or pole, refer to the Installation and Configuration-Mast and Wall Mounting section. 4

STEP 6 Route the cable from the ODU location into the building (where the IDU is to be placed) and secure the cable along its path. inote: The cable has to be routed properly from ODU to the PoE and inside the building. STEP 7 Place the IDU near to the user equipment (such as PBX). STEP 8 Provide IDU grounding. STEP 9 Connect the ODU cable to the appropriate RJ-45 connector on the IDU designated ODU. inote: The Ethernet cable from IDU to the ODU should be 100 meters in length. STEP 10 Connect power to the IDU. inote: AC power is supplied to the IDU through a standard 3-prong plug using 1.5m (5 ft) standard power cable. IDU also has an inbuilt power adapter. Power can also be supplied to IDU using DC source (2 pin DC connector is provided along with product). Aligning the Master and Slave ODU STEP 1 Verify normal operation of the IDU by the LED indications on the front panel. STEP 2 Align the master ODU in the direction of the slave ODU and vice-versa. STEP 3 Alternating between each site, turn each ODU slowly listening to the beep sequence until optimal alignment is achieved. Frequency of beep confirms the link quality. The signal strength improves with the increase in the beep frequency. After approximately 40 seconds the slave ODU beeper starts beeping, which is a normal operation. Beeper Sequence = On = Off Description Indicates a good signal Indicates a weak signal No air link STEP 4 Secure and tighten both master and slave ODU onto the mast/wall. STEP 5 Monitor the link quality for about 15 minutes to verify the link stability. Congratulations! The installation of the is complete. 5

3. Configuring STEP 1 Install the Shyam Transmission System Management software on the system, which on successful installation creates the Shyam Transmission System icon on the desktop. STEP 2 Connect the system to the LAN. STEP 3 Double-click the Shyam Transmission System icon on the desktop or click Start Programs Shyam Transmission System. STEP 4 Provide user name as admin and password as password. On successful login, the following window appears. STEP 5 Specify the IP addresses of ODU and IDU or enable the auto discovery option to establish a connection between ODU and IDU. inote: Ensure that IP address of your system and the ODU and IDU is in the same subnet. The default IP address of ODU is 192.168.0.1 and IDU is 192.168.0.2, the system must also have the IP address in the same domain as 192.168.0.x. Upon successful connection, Shyam Transmission System main window appears. 6 Please refer to Installation and Configuration Guide for more details.

4. Quick Troubleshooting PROBLEM PROBABLE REASON RESOLUTION The PWR LED is Off. The IDU has no power. Verify that AC/DC power is connected to the IDU. Ensure that you are using the same power adaptor supplied with the switch. Buzzer beep signals are weak. No beeper signal. There is an alignment problem. ODU cable is not properly wired. There is no connectivity between external antenna and ODU. ODU is not aligned properly. The radio configuration of both sites is not same. Verify the ODU alignment and reconfigure the link. Verify the alignment tone sounds the best signal sequence. In case of external antenna, verify the connectivity between the antenna and ODU. Ensure that the ODU cable is properly wired and connected. In case of external antenna, verify the connectivity between the antenna and ODU. Complete the installation procedure from the Shyam Transmission System Management software. Verify the ODU alignment. Check that the radio configuration of both the sites is same. After setting to factory defaults, check that both master and slave site have same SSID and pass-phrase for the radio link to work. 7
