High low dress Short front, long back Pockets Eu size 80-164 (US 12 months - 14 years) This pattern is copyrighted, with all rights reserved. You may print copies of the PDF for your own use. You may not make duplicate copies of either the printed pattern, or the PDF file to share. You are not allowed to sell, trade, or share this pattern in any form. Small home based business are allowed to sell finished items made from this pattern.

Before you start: Read all instructions before starting project. Seam allowance is NOT included, add that where two pieces are sewn together. Do not add allowance where you re going to add binding. I usually have a seam allowance of 0.6 cm since I use a serger with a seam that is 0.5cm wide. If you wish to hem add seam allowance for that to the skirt. A stretchy knit fabric is suitable for the dress. Pre-wash all fabrics before sewing to avoid color bleeding and shrinking. Measure the test square on the first page to make sure you printed correctly. It should measure exactly 4x4 cm (or 2x2 ) Make sure you are using the most up to date version of Adobe Reader. You will need: Sewing machine Scissors Thread Ballpoint needle (in machine) Wonder clips or pins Fabric Measuring tape 5mm elastic or clear elastic for waist Fabric requirements: Remember that these measurements are without seam allowance! The total height is counted on a fabric with atleast 150cm of width. You may also need fabric for binding and pockets. Do note that the measurements are in cm 2

It is possible to print only certain sizes using the layers function in acrobat. Select the Layers tab. Unselect the sizes you do not want to print, leave the last layer selected and the size you wish to sew. When printing make sure your printer settings are set to Actual size and Auto portrait/landscape. The files can be printed on Letter and A4 Tape the pattern together as shown to the right. Tip: Cut off the top and left edge of each pattern piece. Line up each line so the triangles meet and form a diamond. Do not cut out pattern pieces before taping all of the pages together. 3

High low dress Cut out all parts on the fold Front and back bodice Front and back skirt Optional: Cut out mirrored x4 pocket pieces (make a mark at the pocket lines on the skirt pieces) The Dress cut out Here s all the parts (except pockets) cut out. You have the top and skirt back pieces, and the top and skirt front pieces. There s different top and skirt lengths to choose from to fit different bodies better. Just choose the length of the top and skirt that you need. Elastic (see pattern for measurements) Put the top right sides togeter with the skirt. I find it easier to cut the elastic in 2 pieces nd sew one to the front pieces and one to the back pieces. Start at the edge and mark the center point, and again the center between the side and center, keep going if you feel you need to make sure the elastic is stretched evenly across the waist. Markings Here you can see that I marked several points with clips. Repeat for the back piece. 5

High low dress Sewing top, skirt and elastic This is how it looks before I ve stretched the elastic, quite alot of extra fabric. Dra i resåren Pull to stretch the elastic just enough that you do not have excess fabric. Do not pull the fabric. Then sew all 3 layers together. If using a serger be careful not to cut the elastic. Repeat for the back piece Front and back dress pieces When finished sewing the waist seam both pieces should look like this, with even, light gathers across the waist. Adding pockets I always cut a notch to mark the pockets top placement. There s 3 different pocket placement marks, you need to choose what feels more comfortable for your arm length. If none feels right, just make a new mark. 6

High low dress Sewing pockets on With right sides together, put 1 pocket pieces on the skirt, matching the top point of the pocket to the mark on the skirt. Sew the pocket in place (in between the 2 clips on the photo. Repeat for the 3 other pocket pieces, 2 on the front and 2 on the back. Pocket pieces on skirt All pocket pieces should now be attatched and your dress should look like this with ears Shoulder seam Put the front and back right sides together and sew one shoulder seam. Add neck binding and binding to the arm opening (on the side you just sewn the choulder seam). Manuall binding tutorial can be found on pages 10-11. Binding added so far This is what the neck and arm opening should look like now. 7

High low dress Sew second shoulder seam With the front and back right sides together sew the second shoulder seam and then add binding to the last arm opening. Binding done This is what it should look like when all bindings are done. Side seam With right sides together, start from the top, clip or pin together, make sure you go around the pocket pieces to get the pouch pocket and continue down to the bottom of the skirt. If you intend to hem or add lace I recommend doing that after finishing 1 side seam, then sew the other after hemming/adding lace. If you like me want a raw edge (viscose and double brushed poly do not roll the edge) you can sew both side seams now. Pocket Just a close up on how I pin around the pocket. 8

High Low dress Sewing around the pocket When reaching the bottom of the pocket you will get a sharp turn. Just try to get the dge as straight as you can without stretching the fabric and go slow. All sewn together After finishing the side seams the dress is done. Put it on! Here s a finished size 48 on me that have size 48 on the top and 50-52 on the bottom. Because of the wide skirt it works as long as you follow your bust measurement. 9

Binding Classic edge binding. Start with measuring the pocket opening, hem or armhole depending on what you plan to attach binding to. Do some math. Mine measures 14cm (5.5 ) Take your measurement and multiply with 0.8 (or 0.75 if it is a very stretchy fabric) For me I get 14*0.75=10.5cm (size 92/2t) So I cut 2 pieces that are 10.5*4 (length*height) since I am binding pocket openings. Pin and sew. With right sides together, pin the edges together first then stretch the band to fit and pin where needed. Sew together. Fold over. This will create a rather thin band, I will show a different way I do when I want a wider band on the next page. Pin in place and sew using a stretch stitch. I like to use a ordinary small zig zag. 10

Binding Clean up. Cut of the excess fabric (or next time remember to cut about 3 cm instead for this one). Check out your awesome handy work and move on to sewing the pockets or side seams. For a wider band. Before I fold over I just use a straight stitch at the width I want the finished band to be. Fold over. The result is this after folding over. Sew using a stretch or decorative stitch as before. Finished! 11
