Vol. 13 Issue 4 An Affiliate of the Society of Decorative Painters April 2016 From your President Dear Ladies, What a great day at the Mad Hatters Luncheon and Tea. Everything went smoothly. Give us your feedback about the event. I want to thank all the ladies who had tables. They were all beautiful. Barb Jacobs and Lee won 3 rd place, myself and Lee won 2 nd place and Nancy and Lana won first place. Another person to thank is Anita. She contacted the Observer about our event. This is the first time they have ever come to learn about us and what we do etc. Look for the Observer on Thursday for the article. Congratulations to all of you. We greatly appreciate all your effort. Ruth and Lee, co-chairs did a wonderful job. Georgia certainly did a wonderful job with the name tags and program. I just can t brag about everyone enough. So did the ladies who set up the pictures, tagged them and listed the tag number. We have gotten a start and an idea of how to do a project of this size. This is a great precursor for next year. I will let Ruth announce how much money we made at the meeting on April 2 nd. A quote from Lee. Ruth is the organizer, I am the grunt. We learned from Beverly Naylor of Guardian ad Litem, WE paint the boxes and THEY WILL furnish the items for the boxes. The Chapter will NOW BUY the boxes for us to paint. We will have boxes at the meeting on April 2 nd. So, get your paint and your brushes ready to paint the boxes. This is a good savings for us all. We need two people to volunteer for the planning of our Christmas Party. Be thinking about it and let me know at the next meeting. Mary Lou has volunteered to be in charge of the coffee at our meetings. Also, she will help with Ways and Means. Lee has also volunteered to work with Ways and Means. If you have any items that are in good condition, please bring to the meeting. We are running low. Give me, Lana or Lee the boxes to store in the unit. Please start thinking what office you will run for. We will need new officers for next year. Judy The real secret of happiness is not what you give or what you receive; it s what you share. Author Unknown. Judy 1

From your First Vice President: Our next class in April will be Seagals with Roseann Magone. I have done some painting with Roseann and she is a fabulous teacher. The pattern can be placed on canvas shoes or any fabric or surface you choose. The canvas shoes can be bought at Walmart or Pay Less Shoes. There is no prep for this class. Roseann will have the pattern to be placed on our piece at the class and she will provide the paints. Those signed up for this class are Ruth M., Judy B., Georgia S., and Lana R. Nancy Walsh will be teaching us how to paint a pineapple at the May 7 th class. When prepping your surface, you can make it into a Welcome sign or leave room for the pomegranates (pattern supplied) to be added at a later class. I have ordered the wooden placemat surfaces (same that Nancy used) and will have them available at the April 2 nd class for $3.50 each. So far those who have signed up for Nancy s class are Jan N., Anita P., Lee F., Jane V.B., Judy H., Lana R., and Barbara Brown. Our June 4 th class will be taught by Alise Duerr. This will be an acrylic Chickadee on a palette. We will learn floating and painting on paper. Alise will supply the paper for the project. Please send me your signup sheets and checks for these projects. Lana Raymond 1 st Vice President/Seminar Chair 2
