Triple, 9MHz, rd Order PRODUT DESRIPTION SGM9 is a video buffer which integrates triple db Gain rail-to-rail output driver and triple rd output reconstruction filter, it has 9MHz -db bandwidth and V/µs slew rate. SGM9 provides improved image quality compared with passive L filters and discrete drivers solution. Operating from single supplies ranging from +.V to +.V. SGM9 can be D-coupled or A-coupled with input video signal, such as the output stage of DA to eliminate out-of-band noise. Internal diode clamps and bias circuitry may be used if A-coupled inputs are required. SGM9 also integrates an internal level shift circuit which avoids sync-pulse being clipped and allows D-coupled output. The drivers in SGM9 can drive D or A-coupled single (Ω) or dual ( Ω) loads. The SGM9 has lead (Pb) free SO- package and ESD (HBM) reaches KV. Failure to observe proper handling and installation procedures can cause damage. ESD damage can range from subtle performance degradation to complete device failure. Precision integrated circuits may be more susceptible to damage because very small parametric changes could cause the device not to meet its published specifications. NOTES. Stresses above those listed under Absolute Maximum Ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. This is a stress rating only; functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions above those indicated in the operational section of this specification is not implied. Exposure to absolute maximum rating conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.

Triple, 9MHz, rd Order APPLIATIONS INFORMATION Functional Description SGM9 operates from a single +.V to +V supply. In application, SGM9 is a fully integrated solution for filtering and buffering SDTV signals in front of video decoder or behind video encoder. For example, SGM9 can replace three passive L filters and three amplifier drivers at VBS and S-video output side in set-top box and DVD player, this solution can help you save PB size and production cost, it also improves video signal performance comparing with traditional design using discrete components. SGM9 features a D-coupled input buffer, -pole low-pass filter to eliminate out-of-band noise of video encoder, and a gain of +db in the output amplifier to drive load. The A or D-coupled input buffer eliminates sync crush, droop, and field tilt. The output of SGM9 also can be D-coupled or A-coupled. Input onsiderations Besides A coupling, the SGM9 inputs also can be D-coupled. In D coupling application, No input coupling capacitors are needed because the amplitude of input video signal from DA includes ground and extends up to.v, then SGM9 can be directly connected to the output of a single-supply, current-output DA without any external bias network. Some time, if DA s output level exceeds the range of V to.v, or SGM9 is driven by an unknown external source or a SART switch which has its own clamping circuit, A coupling is needed in such applications. Output onsiderations The SGM9 outputs can be D-coupled or A-coupled. When V is input, the SGM9 output voltage is mv typically. In D coupling design, one resistor is used to onnect SGM9 s output pin with external load directly, this serial back-termination resistor is used to match the impedance of the transmission line between SGM9 and external load to cancel the signal reflection. The SGM9 outputs can sink and source current allowing the device to be A-coupled with external load, in A coupling, at least capacitor will be used in order to eliminate field tilt. Power-Supply Bypassing and Layout orrect power supply bypassing is very important for optimizing video performance in design. One.µF and one µf capacitors are always used to Bypass V pin of SGM9, please place these two capacitors as close to the SGM9 output pin as possible, a large ground plane is also needed to ensure optimum performance. The input and output termination resistors should be placed as close to the related pin of SGM9 as possible to avoid performance degradation. The PB traces at the output side should have characteristic impedance in order to match the characteristic impedance cable connecting external load. In design, please keep the board trace at the inputs and outputs of the SGM9 as short as possible to minimize the parasitic stray capacitance and noise pickup. Typical Application Diagram The following schematic in Figure is normally used for A coupled output and D-coupled input with DA which has an output voltage range of V to.v. A coupled output offer slightly lower power dissipation and high ESD protection ability. The schematics in Figure and Figure are also popular in design.
