February- Darcy Ashton will talk about how she started in quilting and how she jumped to pattern design and book publishing. March- Amanda Lipscomb of the Oklahoma City Modern Quilt Guild will come and talk to us about this new quilt movement. April- Barb Nicholson came and presented "Heirloom Quilted Vintage Tablecloths", showing us what she has done with all these wonderful vintage linens. May-no meeting due to weather June-no meeting July- Marilyn Watson from Dallas "A Clothesline of Quilts Across America" talked and showed us a collection of barn quilts. August- RaNae Merrill, an award winning quilter, author, and teacher, showed and talked to us about her unique spiral quilts. September- Ava Morton came and talked about Chickasaw Stitchwork and Seminole Patchwork. October- Mary DuBlois from The Quilter's Corner presented "Fun and Easy Pre- Cuts". She demonstrated the many ways precuts can be used to create
interesting quilts November- Donna Skvarla presented a program on Depression Era quilts. December- Our Christmas Party Workshops: We had two workshops this year, one in April with Barb Nicholson on quilting vintage linens (handkerchiefs were used) and one in August with RaNae Merril who taught us how to design and make a spiral quilt. Both were extremely well attended. New Advertisers/Vendors: We have 2 new advertisers this year. They are Expressions in Quilting and The Quilted Castle. Vice President Challenges: Our Vice-President had three quilt challenges. The first one was a Paint Chip Challenge. Each participant was given a paint chip and hand to make a quilt using the color of the paint chip. The second challenge was Red, White and Blue Miniature Quilt Challenge. There were 21 quilts on display. Our challenge quilts were made by Barbara Bain, Shirley Weiss, Barbara Buetter, Joan Ballew, Lee Gray, Gloria Kreuer, Joyce Wolf, Linda Olson, Amy Veitch, Sharon Lynn Thompson, Diane Jackson, Karen Davis, Carlene Moore, Sue Esparza, Sandy Sheldon, Charlene Brewer, Barbara Kendall, Jere Marcotte, and Genie Ford. The last VP challenge of the year was to create any Holiday quilt. We had 39 quilts entered into our challenge. The winning quilt was a Christmas angel done by Sherry Bellack. The other our winners (in no particular order as they were ALL wonderful) were: Joann Young Thanksgiving; Brenda Esslinger - Deer Hunting Season Opening; Sharon Banta - The Lost Sock; and, Shirley Weiss - Halloween Witch Award winning Guild Winners: Cherrie Hampton s Award Quilts: Oklahoma Windsong 2nd Place EQG 2012 Peoples Choice - EQG 2012 Best Quilting Award - Fiber Arts of Oklahoma 2012 Best of Show - Oklahoma State Fair 2012
