Shown with double door STEP 1. GENERAL Prior to beginning construction, the area selected for the shed location must be level and cleared of obstructions. STEP 2. INVENTORY Separate all lumber, hardware, etc. into individual stacks of like items and ensure correct amounts. STEP 3. FRAME PREPARATION Unfold each frame, setting aside two frames to be used as end walls. From 1 4 pine boards, cut gusset plates 6" long: 20 for a building 32 for a 16' building 24 for a 12' building 36 for a 20' building 28 for a 14' building Apply gusset plates on each side of the top and bottom fold locations. Use four 8d nails on each Figure " 96" 79" " " gusset plate. Frames used as end walls require only one gusset plate at the top and bottom on the side opposite the metal plates. 2 STEP 4. FRONT AND BACK WALL FRAMING Using one frame selected as an end wall, measure and mark stud locations according to dimensions shown in Figure 2. Place the proper length studs at those locations. Mark required length and angles. Cut each to fit. Toe nail studs into place using (2) 8d nails top and bottom. For the front wall, follow Figure 3 if installing double doors or Figure 4 for a rollup door. Figure 2 3½" 2" 4" 8' end wall studs cut to fit. FRONT WALL SIDING Cut one 4' 8' sheet of siding in half, lengthwise, Cut the other 24" 96" piece in half, lengthwise, leaving two 24" 96" pieces. Place two full 4' 8' leaving two 12" 96" pieces. Place two full 4' 8' sheets and one 24" 96" piece, with cut edge away sheets and both 12" 96" pieces butted together from the full sheets, butted together face down on face down on the ground. Place front frame on the ground. Place the frame on top of the siding top and trace roof line and door area. Extend door and trace the roof line. Remove the frame and cut outline larger in all directions for new "correct" siding. Properly place siding on the frame and nail door lines. NOTE: Some siding pieces will need to be butted together, so a straight cut is necessary. 3 STEP 7. DOOR FRAMING Use the door cutouts from the front wall framing for the doors. Cut 1 4 boards and attach to the door siding interior leaving the siding extending out top & sides. On one door extend a 1 4 board out for the center of one door; the other door in. Ensure bottom boards clear treated end frame joist. Bend protruding 8d nails. Cut and fasten cross braces. Cut 1 4 boards and attach flush to door siding exterior. Apply hinges and hasp. See Figure 7. Attach 1 4 trim to the front wall frame and fasten doors on top of the trim. RAISING FRAMES From treated s, cut rim joists: 119" for a building 143" for a 12' building 167" for a 14' building 19 for a 16' building 239" for a 20' building Place rim joists apart at the shed location. Stand the front and back walls up at either end of the rim joists. Plumb and temporarily brace. Nail rim joists to the end walls using 10d nails. Place a temporary brace across the roof frame members. Stand up the remaining frames. Nail rim joists to frames at the dimensions shown in Figure 8. STEP 9. SQUARE THE BUILDING At base of building, measure A diagonally. Adjust building until AD=CB. Building is then squared. See right. C STEP 10. FLOOR SUPPORTS Figure 9. 4 STEP 11. FLOOR SHEATHING Building: Cut two ¾" 4 8 sheets to 47½" 96".Cut a ¾" 4 8 Seams sheet into 24" 96" & 24" 95½". Cut another sheet to 24" 23½". 12' Building: Use one ¾" 4 8 sheet. Cut two ¾" 4 8 sheets to 96" 47½" 96". Cut another ¾" 4 8 sheet to 24" 95½" & 24" 47½". 14' Building: Use two ¾" 4 8 sheets. Cut a ¾" 4 8 sheet to 47½" 96". Cut a 4 8 sheet into 23½" 96" & 47½" 48" Notch for 24" 95½". From another sheet cut a piece 24" 71½". Uprights 16' Building: Use two ¾" 4 8 sheets. Cut two 4 8 ¾" sheets to 47½" 96".Cut one to two 24" 95½". 20' Building: Use three ¾" 4 8 sheets and one 24" 48" piece. Cut two ¾" 4 8 sheets to 47½" 96". Cut one into two 24" 95½". Notch and adjust as necessary. Stagger end butt joints front to back. Fasten using 8d nails. STEP 12. SIDE WALLS NOTE: Notch siding at tops to fit around E-Z frame overhangs. Place cut edges at corners. Make certain end walls and frames are plumb (vertically level) and then fasten using 6d nails. STEP 13. FASCIA/SOFFIT STEP 14. Nail to the exposed ends of the roof frame members using 6d nails. Place top edge of fascia board ½" above the top of the roof frame member to cover exposed roof edge. Cut two more into (4) 96". 20' Building: Use four full 4 8 OSB sheets. From others: Cut two into (4) 96"; one into (2) 48"; and one into (2) 48" 48". Stagger butt ends front to back. Nail with 6d nails 8" O.C. Apply roof edge, felt, and shingles as written on bundles. TRIMS: Cut to fit and attach corner trim & end wall fascia trim; likewise 1 4 trim over doors. 4 Pieces 1 4 Cut to fit.
