4 WARRANTY Gusmer Corporation (Gusmer) provides a limited warranty to the original purchaser (Customer) of Gusmer manufactured parts and equipment (Product) against any defects in material or workmanship for a period of one year from the date of shipment from Gusmer facilities. In the event Product is suspected to be defective in material or workmanship, it must be returned to Gusmer, freight prepaid. If Product is found to be defective in material or workmanship, as determined solely by Gusmer, Gusmer will issue full credit to Customer for the freight charges incurred in returning the defective Product, and either credit will be issued for the replacement cost of the Product or a replacement part will be forwarded no-charge, freight prepaid to Customer. This warranty shall not apply to Product Gusmer finds to be defective resulting from: installation, use, maintenance, or procedures not accomplished in accordance with our instructions; normal wear; accident; negligence; alterations not authorized in writing by Gusmer; use of look alike parts not manufactured or supplied by Gusmer; or Product used in conjunction with any other manufacturer's pumping or proportioning equipment. Further, the terms and conditions of this warranty shall not apply to services or repairs made to Product by any third party not authorized in writing by Gusmer. For such Product, a written estimate will be submitted to Customer at a nominal service charge, itemizing the cost for repair. Disposition of Product will be done in accordance with the terms stated on the written estimate. The warranty provisions applied to product that are not manufactured by Gusmer will be solely in accordance with the warranty provided by the original manufacturer of the product. GUSMER MAKES NO WARRANTY WHATSOEVER AS TO THE MERCHANTAILITY OF, OR SUITAILITY FOR, ITS PRODUCT TO PERFORM ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CREDIT FOR, OR REPLACEMENT OF, PRODUCT DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP SHALL CONSTITUTE COMPLETE FULFILLMENT OF GUSMER OLIGATIONS TO CUSTOMER. NO OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED ON ANY PRODUCT IT MANUFACTURES AND/OR SELLS, WILL E RECOGNIZED Y GUSMER UNLESS SAID WARRANTY IS IN WRITING AND APPROVED Y AN OFFICER OF GUSMER. Further, Gusmer shall have no liability for any expenses including, but not limited to personal injury or property damage resulting from failure of performance of the product, use of the product, or application of the material dispensed through the product. Any information provided by Gusmer that is based on data received from a third source, or that pertains to product not manufactured by Gusmer, while believed to be accurate and reliable, is presented without guarantee, warranty, or responsibility of any kind, expressed or implied. 5 Operating Manual General Safety Information GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION The instructions in this manual must be understood and followed to insure proper and safe operation of the equipment. As with most mechanical equipment, certain safety precautions must be taken when the equipment discussed in this manual is operated or serviced. If the instructions and precautions listed throughout this manual are not followed, severe bodily injury or damage to equipment and property may result. Needless to say, sufficient guidelines cannot be developed to eliminate the need for good common sense in the use and servicing of this equipment, and in the use and application of the products this equipment has been designed to process. Users of this equipment must therefore, make their own determination as to the suitability of the information contained in this manual to their specific operation and requirements. There should be no assumption made that the safety measures and instructions contained herein are allinclusive, and that other safety measures may not be required for specific use or application. The following safety guidelines are generally applicable to the safe and efficient use of the equipment. Acceptable Equipment Uses Gusmer designed the for trimming urethane foam to a flat or flush finish. It is ideally suited for leveling high spots between stud or post sections to permit the installation of flat panels. It is also useful in planing down high sections of foam where a flat surface is desired. Any use of this equipment other than as indicated above constitutes misuse without express written approval from GUSMER. WARNING: THE CUTTING LADE ON THE FOAM PLANE IS RAZOR SHARP. EXERCISE EXTREME CARE WHEN USING OR HANDLING THE FOAM PLANE. NEVER HANDLE OR RING THE CUTTING SIDE OF THE FOAM PLANE INTO CONTACT WITH ANY PART OF THE ODY UNLESS THE LADE IS MOTIONLESS, THE AIR SUPPLY DISCONNECTED AND ADEQUATE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING IS WORN TO PREVENT INJURY. SAFETY GOGGLES AND CUT RESISTANT GLOVES MUST ALWAYS E WORN WHEN USING THE FOAM PLANE. IN OPERATING THE FOAM PLANE, TAKE CARE NOT TO STRIKE WOOD, METAL OR OTHER SOLID OJECTS WHICH MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO, OR REAK, THE LADE. NEVER OVERRIDE THE DUAL LEVER ACTUATION FEATURE OF THE FOAM PLANE. ALWAYS HOLD AND OPERATE THE FOAM PLANE WITH OTH HANDS FIRMLY GRIPPING THE HANDLES AND ACTUATE Y MANUALLY DEPRESSING OTH ACTUATING LEVERS. Air Motor Assembly (Part No. 2036) 5. Guide Wheel Assembly (Part No. 2033) Specifications The operates at approximately 200 RPM with an airflow of 4 cfm at 90 psi. The air supply hose should be 3/8" ID with couplings not less than 7/32" ID. WARNING: OPERATION OF THE FOAM PLANE WITH AIR PRESSURE IN EXCESS OF 00 PSI COULD DAMAGE THE AIR MOTOR. PRESSURE UNDER 90 PSI WILL DECREASE EFFICIENCY OF OPERATION. THE HOSE AND COUPLINGS MUST E RATED FOR A WORKING PRESSURE EQUIVALENT TO OR GREATER THAN THE AIR PRESSURE EING USED Equipment Supplied A Guide Wheel Assembly is included with each. It is used for applications where the posts or studs are located closer together than the full cutting width of the. Remove the Guide Wheel when using the entire cutting width of the Foam Plane. A 5/64" Hex Key Wrench (Part No /64) is also Included INST, Issue 3

7 Operating Manual Operation OPERATION Gusmer designed the for trimming urethane foam to a flat or flush finish. It is ideally suited for leveling high spots between stud or post sections to permit the installation of flat panels. It is also useful in planing down high sections of foam where a flat surface is desired. A thin coat of foam is required after planing in order to restore skin integrity prior to coating. For maximum safety, the requires the use of both hands to activate. Each handle has a trigger lever and depressing both trigger levers is required for the Plane to operate. WARNING: TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF THE INDIVIDUALS HANDLING OR OPERATING THE FOAM PLANE, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE DUAL LEVER SAFETY FEATURE NOT E YPASSED OR DEACTIVATED. Three sizes are available. This provides approximate maximum cutting widths of /4", 7 /4", and 23 /4". The Plane handles act as guides to run down studs or posts while the double-edge, reversible lade shaves excess foam to make a flush surface. The adjustable Guide wheel enables the operator to guide down studs or posts spaced closer than the fixed Handle distance. Specify the size of your when ordering replacement Assemblies, lades, Cuttershafts. For your convenience, the size is stamped on the outside of the Handle without the Chain cover and on the Cuttershaft. Changing the Cutting Width: WARNING: TO PREVENT INJURY FROM THE SHARP LADE, HEAVY GLOVES SHOULD E WORN WHEN INSTALLING, REMOVING, OR ADJUSTING GUIDE WHEEL. Install the Guide Wheel as follows:. Remove the clamp from the Wheel by unscrewing the socket head cap screw. 2. Slide the wheel onto the Cuttershaft at the location desired as shown in Figure 2. This will allow the lade to rest within the relief machined into the Wheel. 3. Place the clamp in position, insert the Screw and tighten sufficiently to hold the wheel securely. 8 MAINTENANCE Lubrication Foam plane To lubricate the Foam plane, squeeze several drops of oil into the Air Inlet Tube at the end of body as shown in Figure 3. Figure 3 Foamplane Lubrication Important: Do not apply excessive amounts of oil during any one application. The key to good lubrication is the regular application of several drops for every four hours of operation Air Motor To insure maximum output and life of the Gusmer recommends using a line filter, pressure regulator, and air lubricator set to deliver 2 to 4 drops per minute. If no lubricator is used, re-lubricate the air motor after every 4 hours of operation. Important: There is an airflow adjusting screw on the air motor, which should not be turned or touched because it is already set at its maximum. Turning this screw, you may cut off the air supply. lade Check the lade periodically to insure the cutting edge has not become dull. A dull blade increases wear on the Air Motor and will result in tearing rather than cutting the foam. The lade is double-edged to enable the user to reverse the lade after one side becomes dull. Use the following procedure to remove and install the lade. WARNING: THE FOAM PLANE LADE HAS VERY SHARP EDGES. TO PREVENT INJURY, HEAVY GLOVES MUST ALWAYS E WORN WHEN HANDLING THE LADE.. Disconnect Air Supply. WARNING: AIR SUPPLY MUST E DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO WORKING ON THE FOAM PLANE INST, Issue 3

9 Operating Manual Maintenance 2. Remove both End Pin Mounting Screws (Part No. 2002A-6) from the End Pins (Part No. 2002A-4). 3. Unsnap lade (Part No. 2002A-2- size) from each mounting Pin (Part No ). Figure 4 Loosing lade 4. Remove the lade by unwinding it from either end of the as shown below. 5. Reverse the worn lade or install a new lade into place by winding it onto the cuttershaft and securing as described in steps 2 and 3. Figure 5 Removing lade 6. Using an adjustable wrench to secure the Cuttershaft as shown below, snap the lade onto the Mounting Pins. Figure 6 Securing Cuttershaft with Wrench 7. Center the last hole on the end of the lade over the threaded hole in the respective End mounting Pin. Insert the End Mounting Pin Screw through the lade hole and thread into the End Pin, securing it with the 5/64 Hex Key wrench (Part No /64). Repeat this procedure on the other end of the lade. 8.
