1 the California Printmaker the journal of the california society of printmakers 2008 Portrait Place Process
2 Like a butterfly which sheds and transcends its former incarnations, the fine art print bears little resemblance to the nascent image bitten in metal or cut into wood. One may admire the final print, but rarely does one gain access to the printmaker, the studio, or the many stages of development through which a print comes into existence. Portrait Place Process. This journal without words celebrates the world of the California Society of Printmakers. It has been the tradition that a guest editor is invited each year to edit the content of The California Printmaker. This year, in a departure, the journal is a collaborative effort by six members of the Publications Committee. The California Printmaker 2008 DESIGN AND PRODUCTION 13 2 Studio, San Francisco, CA PRINTING Inkworks, Berkeley, CA 2008 The California Society of Printmakers. All rights reserved.
