(and I breech copyright often don t judge me!) 3. This workshop is about Book Week not book fairs book week for me is all about the library, not selling books. At the end of the session I hope to have some sharing time and hear about the things that have worked for you - I need an injection of new ideas!

3 I choose my theme a year out from Book Week it means my antennae are up for collecting titles, resources and ideas.

4 There are lots of sites to help with ideas for a theme: Your school, syndicates or teams may also have a planned theme for inquiry learning. Usually it s just something that excites me or a genre/subject I want to re-ignite or tap into where there is interest already!

5 Read to Reel was a particularly good theme and would be a great one if you are starting out. Students who were not big readers could access and enjoy this theme easily and had a new appreciation of the place of books in the world of movies.

6 I don t worry about national or international celebrations to set the date as inevitably they clash with our school calendar. The date is vital to the success of book week overloaded teachers or a crowded school calendar can be fatal.

8 I use Graphic Leftovers Stock Images to purchase all my clip art. Yes I do purchase it as I want to use it widely and publically. Images cost from $1 - $6 (free to register and can load just $20 credit at a time)

10 I work on $300 every year for decorations, prizes and other extras. Most of my prizes come via our scholastic Book Fair commission which I hold at a separate time from Book Week, just before Christmas.

The class has all day to work on the questions and only the library or library catalogue can be used for help. The class answers must be handed in by 3:20 each day. The class with the best score after 4 rounds wins a morning tea shout in the library!

Don t be afraid to try performers outside your local area, they will often travel and arrange to visit other schools so costs are kept low.
