2 SPACEY TRACEY EXPLORES THE UNIVERSE Mom: (enters tripping over aliens all over the living room) Doctor! Oh Doctor! Where are you, Doctor? Just look at all these aliens! He said he was going to take care of them for us and now they are just everywhere! Doctor! Doctor! Dad: (from another area) Honey! There is an alien in our fridge! (pulls but no alien comes out) Come on you! Honey! It s one of those Borks! Out of my fridge! Out! ( a Blork pops out) Blork: Blork, Blork, Blork, Blork, Blork, Blork, Blork, Blork (he has a multiplication flash card) Mom: George! Whatever you do, Do not take the Blorks out of the fridge! They need the cold or else they.. (lots of Blorks appear with cards) Dad: (surrounded by Blorks) They what?? Oh dear! They.they they Mom and Dad: They multiply!!!! (Blorks are everywhere with their cards making blork noises following mom and dad everywhere they go.finally.) Dad: All right! That s it!!! Mom: You d better believe that s it!!!! We cannot have Blorks multiplying all over the house!! Mom and Dad: Doctor! Doctor! Dr. Who: (enters firing a flashlight and freezing blorks) I see you have a blork infestation here. A severe blork infestation! Mom: Ya think? Dad: Good of you to come, Doctor Who. I think I really appreciate you stopping by. Dr. Who: Not a problem. These Blorks are easily controlled with a Neptune freeze ray! (shines it around) Now these little buggers just need a planet of there own. So. I ll just give them a little ride. Come on. (herds them onto his spaceship) Okay. There s the last of them. Now, off we go to the North Star. That will keep them nice and cold! Ta ta bye now! Mom and Dad: Thank you Dr. Who! (cutains close. Narrators get ready out front. One Blork peeks out from the side of the stage and wanders into the audience making blork noises. Finally Dr. Who shines his light from the other side. Dr. Who: (gently herds the Blork back where he came from) So sorry little fellow, but you are really going to like the North Star. Off we go now! Let s not be a bad little blork. Say bye bye. Bork: blork blork. 2

3 NARRATOR 1: Good day, fellow creatures. I hope you re having a splendid time on planet earth. NARRATOR 2: Today, we would like you to meet the great space explorer, Spacey Tracey. Spacey, could you come say hi for a minute? (Enter Spacey, Fred the robot and Ralph the dog) SPACEY: Hello, fellow earthlings. NARRATOR 1: So, this is Spacey Tracey and Fred, the incredible robot, and Ralph the space dog. They are about to take a journey to explore space. RALPH: Woof. Woof. FRED: It is a pleasure to meet you. (robot voice) NARRATOR 2: Excuse me, Spacey, but is it true you are about to explore the planets? SPACEY: Dude, we will explore planets, but I hope to go much farther than that. NARRAOR 1: Perhaps you will explore the Milky Way Galaxy? FRED: Spacey Tracey has to ask her mom first. NARRATOR 1: Is this true? You have to ask your mom? SPACEY: Yes. (calls offstage) Mom? Mom? Can I go explore space? (Mom enters) MOM: Now Spacey, I m sure that would be fine, but how far out are you going to go? You know what your father said about Jupiter and that dangerous red spot. SPACEY: It s okay; I m taking Ralph the space dog and Fred the robot. They can detect problems in outer space. MOM: Have you asked your father? FRED: Tracey has not asked the father. SPACEY: (yells) Dad, can I go space exploring? I ll be back for dinner. (Dad enters) DAD: You know, I think that will be just fine. Just don t forget your cosmic sunglasses. You picked up far too much radiation when you went beyond the Milky Way Galaxy last week. MOM: And don t forget to put on your cosmic ray sunscreen. Space is a dangerous place. RALPH: Woof. Woof. 3

4 SPACEY: Okay, great. See you later. I will try and stay in our local group of galaxies NARRATOR 1: So, it looks like Spacey Tracey will explore space today this very day! NARRATOR 2: Yes, I wonder what her plans are. NARRATOR 1: Look, she s getting into her rocket. NARRATOR 2: She s about to blast off. Here s the countdown everybody! CHORUS: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF! SONG (1) Blasting off into outer space Another step for the human race They re flying past THE MOON They re leaving earth behind They re flying past the moon And they are leaving earth behind. (2) Now they re headed for Mercury A tiny planet near the sun you see And it has no air Because the air s not there It has no air, because the air is just not there. (3) Venus is bright in the night sky It s a rock planet so nearby It has an atmosphere That is quite severe It has an atmosphere And it is quite severe. (4) Spacey s traveling right past Mars It s a little planet just like ours It has 2 moons And it is very red It has 2 moons And it is very red. (5) Jupiter has a big red spot Gravity would hurt a normal astronaut And it is made of gas And it has lots of mass It is made of gas And it has lots of mass. (6) Saturn s stranger than anything Saturn s got that great big ring 4

(7) Now Uranus is planet 7 It rotates sideways up in heaven It is not so nice Because it s mainly ice It is not so nice; it is mainly ice. (8) Neptune also orbits the sun 79 years it is done Now all the planets are done And Pluto isn t one All the planets are done and Pluto isn t one. SPACEY: Isn t this great? Too bad Pluto can t be a planet anymore. FRED: The diameter of Pluto is estimated to be 2,000 miles, which does not qualify for planet status. SPACEY: You don t qualify for planet status. RALPH: Woof. Woof. FRED: I am a robot, not planet. SPACEY: I m just kidding around, Fred. FRED: I am not programmed for kidding around. (doorbell sounds) RALPH: Woof. Woof. SPACEY: We have a visitor. Someone else is visiting Pluto today. Who can it be? FRED: My sensors report that it is Solar System Sam. RALPH: Woof. (enter Solar System Sam and Zop) NARRATOR 3: And now a word about Solar System Sam. He is like the mountain men of old except he travels in space. He makes many friends as he searches for gold on other planets. For example, he is traveling now with Zop who comes from Zoot Zoot Pah. SAM leads song. (Zop interjects the word, Zop, in various places) SONG (to the tune of Home on the Range) 5

6 (1) Oh give me a home, where the planets all roam And the comets and asteroids play. Where seldom is seen a human being And the stars are in the Milky Way. (2) Home, home on the Solar System Where the comets and asteroids play Where seldom is seen a human being And the stars are in the Milky Way. SPACEY: Solar System Sam! What are you doing here? SAM: Well, melt my Mercury. I was just introducing our little solar system to my good friend, Zop. Say hello to Spacey, Zop. ZOP: Zop. Zop. SAM: Zop is still learning, but he can say quite a few words. SPACEY: Where are you from, Zop? ZOP: Zoot Zoot Pah FRED: Zoot Zoot Pah is at the other end of the Milky Way Galazy. Zoot Zoot Pah is 50 thousand light years away. ZOP: Zop. Zop. SAM: You see, Zop s planet system has plenty of ice-cold Pluto-like planets and even some gas giants like Saturn and Neptune, but they don t have any earth-like planets. FRED: What planet did you say you live on, Zop? ZOP: We live on Zoot Zoot Pah. It has an elliptical orbit. When the orbit is far away from our sun, Zoot Zoot Pah is frozen, frozen! Zop. Zop. But we unfreeze, unfreeze, two times a year. Zop. Zop. SAM: That s when I found them little Zops. They was comin out of hibernation just as my spaceship was passin by. All them Zops was singin and playin songs. It was so dern cute. Wanna hear em, Spacey? SPACEY: That would be way cool, Sam. NARRATOR 1: This should be interesting. NARRATOR 2: Music from 50 thousand light years away. SAM: Well, Jumpin Jupiter! Come on in all of you little Zops. Show em your stuff! (Zops enter playing weird recorder music doing a weird Zop dance) 6

7 ZOP SONG Zip zop ziddley op zop Zip zop ziddley op zop zop zop zop Zip zop ziddley op zop And a mountain top SAM: Aren t they great!?! Now I ve got to show these critters earth cause they re thinking of moving to a new planet. SPACEY: They re going to move to earth? Sam, they can t move to earth. It s already too crowded! SAM: No, no, don t worry, Spacey. There has to be another earth-like planet somewhere, where those little Zops don t have to freeze and defrost two times a year because of their elliptical orbit. NARRATOR 1: They should check the Andromeda Galaxy for earth-like planets. SPACEY: Why don t you check the Andromeda Galaxy for earth-like planets? We could help. Andromeda is next to our Milky Way galaxy. FRED: We will help. RALPH: Woof, woof. ZOP: Zop. Zop. SAM: Sweet Saturn! That will be great. Let s meet up 500 light years to the north of Andromeda s galaxy s black hole 5 days ago. FRED: 5 days ago? You want us to go back in time? That would mean using a space wormhole. SAM: Yeah, let s meet 5 days ago. I forgot to pick up a gallon of Comet pepper and asteroid salt, and I d like to erase all the trouble I got in, so let s go back in time 5 days. SPACEY: Cool. See ya 5 days ago, dude. SAM: Bye, bye. FRED: Shall I set a course for the Andromeda worm hole? SPACEY: No, let s use the black hole in the middle of the Milky Way. It will shoot us straight through to Andromeda. FRED: That could be very dangerous. SONG: BLACK HOLE 7

8 1) Nothing can escape from a black hole, a black hole, Massive stars collapse and make a black hole (Chorus) Super massive danger zone Spacey Tracey goes into the danger zone Super massive danger zone (Sing 2 times) 2) Space and time deform in a black hole Time goes much more slowly in a black hole (Chorus) 3) The center of the Milky Way has a black hole Even light gets sucked into the black hole (Chorus) (Sing 2 times) 4) Tracey travels time in a black hole Knows just what to do in a black hole FRED: Here we are at the edge of the Black Hole. SPACEY: It s called the event horizon. FRED: I hope we come out the other side. SPACEY: I did not know that a robot could hope. Here we go. We re being sucked in!!!!!!!!!!!! RALPH: Wooooooooof! Wooooooooooooooooooof! NARRATOR 1: They are approaching the singularity. NARRATOR 2: It is the center of the black hole. NARRATOR 1: Now they are shooting out the other side. NARRATOR 2: And it is 5 days earlier. FRED: We are now in the Andromeda Galaxy. Shall I start the search for earth-like planets? SPACEY: Let s do it! RALPH: Woof, woof. SONG: LOOKING FOR EARTH-LIKE PLANETS SONG (tune of I ve Been Working on the Railroad ) 8

9 (sing 2 times) 1) We are searching for a planet All the live long day We are searching for a planet So the Zops will be okay. Don t you think that we can find one That s not too near its sun It should have a lot of water We ll search them one by one. (sing 2 times) 2) Planet are you here Planet are you there Orbiting a yellow sun, sun, sun. Planet are you here Planet are you there Orbiting a yellow sun. (sing 2 times) 3) I think I see a planet Perfect for a Zop Zop Zop Zop It s got lots of water And a mountain top (sing 2 times) 4) Zip zop ziddley op zop Zip zop ziddley op zop zop zop zop Zip zop ziddley op zop And a mountain top. FRED: We have a slight problem, Spacey. Where are the Zops and Solar System Sam? RALPH: Woof, woof. (Doorbell) SAM: Hello? Anybody home? We re here and I ll bet you found a planet for our little Zop friends. ZOP: Zop? Zop zop zop? Zops sing: Zip Zop, Ziddley Op Zop (with kazoos) NARRATOR 1: And that s how the Zops found a new home. NARRATOR 2: It was a planet just right, and they dropped off the Zops. NARRATOR 3: The new planet had a nice round orbit, so it was always just the right distance from their new yellow sun. Good-bye, Zops! You don t have to freeze twice a year anymore! 9

10 ZOPS: (leaving) Zop. Zop. Zop. SPACEY: Our job is done, Sam. I think it s time to go home. SAM: Yep. Them Zops are the nicest little aliens I ve ever seen this side of the Milky Way Galaxy. FRED: There is a new wormhole opening up. But if we take it, it won t go directly to Earth. It goes to Mars. SPACEY: So let s go to Mars! SAM: Yee-hah! We re going to Mars! SONG: GOING TO MARS (to the tune of She ll Be Comin Round the Mountain ) 1) We ll be zoomin through the wormhole off to Mars (Zoom Zoom) We ll be zoomin through the wormhole off to Mars (Zoom Zoom) We ll be zoomin through the wormhole We ll be zoomin through the wormhole We ll be zoomin through the wormhole off to Mars (Zoom Zoom) 2) We ll say hi to Halley s Comet on the way (Hi there!) 11 RALPH: Woof, woof. SAM: I hear Mars actually has volcanoes and canyons. FRED: We are 141 million miles from the sun. Mars is about half the size of Earth. (Martian marching music) (Martians march in and surround. Humuhum steps forward.) Humuhum: Why have you invaded my planet? Take them as prisoners! SPACEY: Who are you? Humuhum: I am Humuhumunukunukuapuaa in the Martian, and this is my planet. You are trespassers! Put them in prison! SAM: Wait! Humuhumunukunukuapuaa! We are just tourists visiting your planet! Humuhum: No! You are earthlings! Disgusting earthlings! You must be destroyed! Lock them away! Lock them in my Martian jail! (Prisoners are put in jail) NARRATOR 3: So our space travelers were put in a Martian jail. At this time Solar System Sam secretly called his Zop friends and Dr. Who. Humuhum: Now I can get back to my mission. (Looks through telescope) Ah, there is the Earth. But where is my beautiful Venus? Where is Venus? I ll tell you! It s right behind Earth! Behind Earth! Venus is behind Earth! MARTIAN 1: Earth is blocking your view of Venus, sir! MARTIAN 2: Will you be destroying Earth, sir? MARVIN: I will destroy Earth with my Illudium Q36 Explosive Space Modulator! SONG: TWINKLE, TWINKLE PLANET EARTH (To the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star ) 1) Twinkle, twinkle, planet Earth, How I wonder what you re worth. You ll be worthless when I am through Zapping, blasting, crushing you. Twinkle, twinkle, planet Earth, How I wonder what you re worth. 11

12 2) Teeny, tiny spinning ball, Heads are big, but brains are small. I will strike you Earthlings down, Ray gun beams from town to town. Teeny, tiny spinning ball, Heads are big, but brains are small. 3) Twinkle, twinkle, do it fast! Thirty seconds left to last. Ray guns ready, no more quirks! Now I ll wait and hope it works. Twinkle, twinkle, do it fast! Twenty seconds left to last. (Dr Who shows up and uses his sonic screwdriver. Zops and everyone break out of jail) SPACEY: Ha ha, we are free! FRED: Step away from the Illudium Q36 Explosive Space Modulator! RALPH: Woof, woof. ZOPS: Zop. Zop. Zop. Zop. Humuhum: Attack! Attack! Attack! Attack! Attack! (Stage fight where Martians are gradually herded into a circle and Humuhum waves a white flag) Humuhum: We surrender! We surrender! SAM: Jumpin Jupiter! We beat them dern Martians! ZOPS: Zop. Zop. Zop. Zop. Humuhum: We promise to be good from now on. SPACEY: No more destroying Earth just because it blocks your view of Venus? Humuhum: We promise! NARRATOR 1: And so Humuhumunukunukuapuaa became a good Martian for a while. NARRATOR 2: They all said good-bye once again, and the Zops returned to their planet. NARRATOR 3: Solar System Sam went looking for gold and Spacey went back to Earth. SPACEY: I m home! MOM: Oh, very good, dear. Did you have a good time? 12

13 DAD: I hope you didn t go near Jupiter s dangerous red spot. SPACEY: No, we just went through a black hole, found the Zops a new home and stopped Humuhumunukunukuapuaa the Martian from destroying the Earth. MOM: Oh very good, dear. I hope you remembered to brush your teeth. DAD: Yes, we don t want you to get any cavities. SPACEY: Mom, who is that? MOM: Oh that is your 2 nd cousin twice removed on your grandmother s side. His name is Luke Skywalker. LUKE: Ki Spacey! May the force be with you! Trust the force Spacey! May the force be with you! Trust the force Spacey! SPACEY: What in the world are you talking about! (Darth Vader breathing is heard. Then Darth appears) DARTH: Join the Dark side Luke!!!! LUKE: Never Darth!!!! (light saber fight throughout the audience) DARTH: I am your father Luke!!! (exit out the back of cafetorium) NARRATORS 1, 2, 3: And that s our play everyone! Thanks for coming!!!! Music and Curtain Calls 13
