5 Introduction Control structure The SINUMERIK 80/820, Basic Version 3, contains a programmable logic controller (PLC) in the form of a software PLC without independent hardware (CPU) which is integrated in the compact CNC control unit This documentation applies for the T/M versions A considerable burden is taken from the PLC user memory by removing standard functions such as M and S decoding, organization of the NC-PLC data transfer, organization of the displaying of error and operational messages from the PLC user memory and putting them in the system program memory Additional PLC programs are no longer required for such auxiliary routines This Interface Description covers both signals exchanged between the NC and PLC, and signals offered by the PLC operating system, eg in decoded form Note: The * signed signals have to be switched inverse Machine I/O module Ext customer control panel Ext machine control panel NC Operator communication Visualization Part program Drive control PLC operating system Inputs/outputs Scanning operational/ error messages M, S, T, H M decoder Operational/ error messages VDI signals Auxil functions Static/dynamic M signals External data Machine data Interface control program PLC Servo drives SINUMERIK 80/820 functional structure
