4 400 m 10 m! FUSED 600 T I 1000 T III OM m Radio Wiring (Identifying/Gathering information) ON STRT D Pull out the radio. Do not disconnect harnesses! Turn key to position Turn the radio ON. Set volume to medium. Turn the parking lights ON. Set the dashboard illumination dimmer to a medium lighting intensity. Set DMM (Digital Multimeter) to D volts. onnect red probe at input terminal for voltage and resistance. onnect black probe at common (return) terminal OM D m ON STRT pply RED DMM probe tip to 12(+). pply LK DMM probe tip to Ground(-). DMM should display approximately 12(+). If DMM does not test 12(+), repair the test equipment before proceeding. pply LK DMM probe tip to a first wire of the radio. When DMM displays an approximative reading of 12(+), apply a ROWN SWI F label on the (oltage must be stable and not fluctuate to the sound of music.) Repeat steps 09 and 10 until all radio wires have been tested. Turn key to position and remove key from ignition switch OM OM 12 Turn the parking lights. Disconnect the radio harnesses. ontinue to apply RED DMM probe tip to 12(+). pply LK probe tip to each wire with a ROWN SWI F label. Look for wires that read approximately 12(+). Remove the ROWN SWI F label from all wires that read approximately 12(+). Remove RED DMM probe tip from 12(+). 5 Radio Wiring (Identifying/Gathering information) D OM m m Set DMM to OHMS. To get an accurate reading: use auto-range or set the scale at 20k and if reading is less than 2k, scale down to 2k. Ensure the probes are connected as shown: Red probe at input terminal for voltage and resistance, black probe at common (return) terminal. pply LK DMM probe tip to a first wire with a ROWN SWI F label. pply RED DMM probe tip to a first wire of the radio. Press and hold for 3 seconds each steering wheel button, 1 at a time. When releasing button, look for a change of resistance on the DMM. When DMM displays a change of resistance apply a PINK SWI label on the D m! m Record in section the color and location of the signal (Wire with a PINK SWI label.) Record in section the color and location of the feed (Wire with a ROWN SWI F label.) Record in section the names of steering wheel buttons linked to the signal (uttons that provided a change of resistance when pressed and released). Repeat steps 21 through 27 until all steering wheel buttons are linked to a signal and a feed If not all steering wheel buttons are linked, further testing is required (step 40). Make sure that DMM is set to OHMS D m pply RED DMM probe tip to first signal wire (PINK label). pply LK DMM probe tip to linked feed wire (ROWN label). Measure resistance value between feed wire and signal Record resistance at idle value in section. Repeat steps 31 through 33 for each signal pply RED DMM probe tip to first signal wire (PINK label). pply LK DMM probe tip to linked feed wire (ROWN label). 6 Radio Wiring (Identifying/Gathering information) D m For each button, measure resistance value. (Wait for a stable reading.) For each button, record resistance value in section. Repeat steps 35 through 38 for each signal If some steering wheel buttons are still not linked to a signal wire, complete External module wiring (Identifying/Gathering Information) section. 7 3 External module Wiring (Identifying/Gathering information) OM D m m Locate external module (ex. luetooth or navigation module). Set DMM to OHMS. pply LK DMM probe tip to Ground(-). pply RED DMM probe tip to a first wire of the external module connector. Press and hold for 3 seconds, each steering wheel button that is not already linked, 1 at a time. When releasing button, look for a change of resistance on the DMM. When DMM displays a change of resistance apply a PINK SWI label on the Record in section the color and location of the signal (Wire with a PINK SWI label.) Record in section the names of steering wheel buttons linked to the signal (uttons that provided a change of resistance when pressed and released). Repeat steps 04 through 08 until each steering wheel button is linked to a signal Disconnect the module. pply RED DMM probe tip to a first wire with a PINK SWI label. Press and hold for 3 seconds, each steering wheel button linked to the wire, 1 at a time. When releasing button, look for a change of resistance on the DMM D m If there is a change of resistance: Go to step 30. If there is NO change of resistance: Go to next step. pply LK DMM probe tip to a first wire with a PINK SWI label. pply RED DMM probe tip to a first wire of the radio. Press and hold for 3 seconds each steering wheel button linked to the wire, 1 at a time. When releasing button, look for a change of resistance on the DMM. When DMM displays a change of resistance apply a ROWN SWI F label on the Record in section the color and location of the feed (Wire with a ROWN SWI F label.) 8 3 External module Wiring (Identifying/Gathering information) D m Repeat steps 14 through 18 for every signal wire (with a PINK SWI tag.) pply RED DMM probe tip to first signal wire (PINK label). pply LK DMM probe tip to linked feed wire (ROWN label). Measure resistance value between feed wire and signal Record resistance at idle value in section. Repeat steps 20 through 22 for each signal pply RED DMM probe tip to first signal wire (PINK label). pply LK DMM probe tip to linked feed wire (ROWN label) D m One at a time, press and hold each steering wheel button linked to that signal For each button, measure resistance value. (Wait for a stable reading.) For each button, record resistance value in section. Repeat steps 24 through 27 for each signal Go to step 35 in Radio wiring (Identifying/Gathering Information) section. pply RED DMM probe tip to first signal wire (PINK label). pply LK DMM probe tip to Ground(-) D m D Measure resistance value between ground and signal Record resistance at idle value in section. Repeat steps 30 through 32 for every signal wire (with a PINK SWI tag.) pply RED DMM probe tip to first signal wire (PINK label). pply LK DMM probe tip to Ground(-).
