Description 2 Description This example describes how it is possible to limit the operating range of a motor potentiometer (MOP). It is assumed that the drive system has already been basically commissioned (drive inverter, motor and open-loop control). Additional information regarding the commissioning and MOP is provided in the parameter list and the Instruction Manual. In this particular example we are assuming that the motor potentiometer must operate between two fixed limits; the lower limit, fmin = 20Hz and the upper limit, fmax = 50Hz. Depending on the ramp times, the response behavior of the MOP is either fast or slow. In order to speed-up the response characteristics of the MOP, in this example, the drive inverter limit fmax (54 Hz) is set somewhat higher than the MOP limit fmax. As shown in the block diagram (Fig. 5.1), BICO technology and free blocks are used to implement this example. The parameterization described in the following is sufficient in order to implement the function to limit the MOP operating range. The system can either be parameterized using the BOP or AOP operator panels or also using the STARTER commissioning tool. A&D SD Page 4/16

4 Parameterizing with STARTER Prerequisites Hardware Software The MICROMASTER drive inverter is connected to the PC. The MICROMASTER has been commissioned. The STARTER software has been installed on the computer. The communications link has been set. A new project was set-up. The drive was inserted into the project Establishing the online connection To go online, click on the button Connect to target system (Fig ). The window Connect to target system is displayed (Fig ). The online connection is established. Fig A&D SD Page 6/16
Fig The online connection that has been established is displayed at the bottom right as Online mode, (with a yellow background) (Fig ). Fig The digital inputs should then be selected in a next step. To do this select the path Terminals / bus with a double click (Fig ). A&D SD Page 7/16
4.1.3 Selecting the digital inputs In the Terminal/Bus path, select the Digital inputs tab. Here, click in the window to select the function of digital input 5. Fig An alarm Digital input function selection (Fig ) is displayed. 1. Acknowledge this alarm with OK. Fig The BICO interconnections should now be parameterized in a next step. A&D SD Page 8/16
4.1.4 Parameterizing the BICO interconnections To parameterize the interconnections, BICO parameterization must first be enabled. To do this select Enable BICO parameterization (99) (Fig ). Fig The alarm Digital input function selection via BICO is displayed. Acknowledge this alarm with OK (Fig ) Fig Interconnecting the parameters The parameters should now be interconnected. To do this double click on the window to select the parameters (Fig ). Here, select the first input of the AND1 logic element (p2810[0], BI: AND 1, binector input 0 (BI 0)). Digital input 5 = terminal X16 (722.4, binector input 0) is interconnected to parameter P (Fig ). Repeat steps to (the message shown in Fig is no longer displayed) for digital input 6 = terminal X17 and interconnect this with parameter P (Fig ). Here, select the first input of the AND 2 logic element (P2812[0], BI: AND 2, binector input 0 (BI 0)). Digital input 6 = terminal X17 (722.5, binector input 0) is interconnected to parameter P A&D SD Page 9/16
Fig Fig Fig The limits of the MOP should then be parameterized in a next step using the free blocks. A&D SD Page 10/16
4.1.6 Opening the free blocks To open the free blocks, select Free blocks with a double click (Fig ). Fig The limits of the MOP are parameterized using these free blocks. To do this Click on the tab Connector settings. 2. Activate all of the free blocks by selecting Enable (1). 3. Set the upper limit for the motor potentiometer (fixed connector 1) (e.g %). Parameter P2889, CO: Fixed setpoint 1 in [%] is set to this value. 4. Set the lower limit for the motor potentiometer (fixed connector 2) (e.g. 40% = 20 Hz). Parameter P2890, CO: Fixed setpoint 2 in [%] is set to this value. A&D SD Page 11/16
Fig Then, the comparators must be linked together (Fig ) Linking the comparators 1. Click on the tab >. 2. Activate the element COMPARE 1 by selecting Level 1 (1). 3. Select parameter P2889, CO: Fixed setpoint 1 in [%] as the first input of the element (p2885.0). The link p2889 p is now established. 4. Select parameter P1050, CO: MOP output frequency as the second input of the element. The link p1050 p is now established. 5. Select parameter P2810[1], BI: AND 1, binector input 1 (BI 1) as the output of the comparator. The link r2886 p is now established. 6. Activate the element COMPARE 2, by selecting Level 1 (1). 7. Select parameter P1050, CO: MOP output frequency as the first input of element (p2887.0). The link r1050 p is now established. 8. Select parameter P2890, CO: fixed setpoint 2 in [%] as second input of the element. The link p2890 p is now established. 9. Select parameter p2812[1], BI: AND 1, binector input 1 (BI 1) as output of the comparator. The link r2888 p is now established. A&D SD Page 12/16
Fig The AND logic elements must now be linked with one another (Fig ) A&D SD Page 13/16
Linking the AND logic elements 1. Click on the tab AND. 2. Activate element AND 1 by selecting Level 1 (1). 3. We already defined the inputs of the two AND logic elements in the previous steps. This is the reason that parameters r722.4 and r2886 are displayed as the inputs of the first AND logic element and parameters r722.5 and r2888 as the inputs of the second AND element. 4. Select parameter p1035[0], BI: Selection for MOP raise, 1 as the output of the AND 1 element. The link r2811 p1035 is now established. 5. Activate the AND 2 element by selecting Level 1 (1). 6. Select parameter p1036[0], BI: Selection for MOP lower, 1 as the output of the AND 2 element. The link r2813 p1036 is now established. Fig The START FREQUENCY must now be set (Fig ) A&D SD Page 14/16
Setting the starting frequency 1. Select Motor potentiometer (MOP), and double click. 2. Set the starting frequency of the motor potentiometer to 20 Hz. The parameterization has been completed. The drive is ready to run. Fig A&D SD Page 15/16
