3 Product Description Overview The Trane Wireless Zone Sensor offers an excellent alternative to wired sensors, but has the advantage of easy and flexible installation. It is compatible with any Trane unit controller, 1 and includes sensor, receiver, wiring harness, and two AA lithium batteries that will provide five years of operation. 2 Standard functions provided by the new sensor include zone temperature, temperature setpoint, and occupied/unoccupied override. The temperature setpoint is available in Fahrenheit or Celsius. The Wireless Zone Sensor is approved for use in most worldwide locations. The wireless feature allows you to mount the sensor quickly and easily, while minimizing installation and relocation expense. The wireless feature also provides the flexibility of placing the sensor in a location that is optimal for space comfort and aesthetics. The Trane Wireless Zone Sensor uses a radio that is specifically designed for the application, 3 providing excellent signal range, battery life, and reliability. Estimated transmission distance for the 10 mw version will be less. Actual distance is job specific and must be determined during site evaluation. Placement of the receiver and the sensor is critical to proper system operation. In most general office space installations, distance is not the limiting factor for proper radio signal quality. It is more greatly affected by walls, barriers, and general clutter. In general, sheetrock walls and ceiling tiles offer little restriction to the propagation of the radio signal throughout the building as opposed to concrete or metal barriers.
