4 Good timing systems need good distribution units.. but why? The general need in timing distribution is to get an accurately defined electrical signal ( ) from one place to another with minimal degradation or change in it s key characteristics.. In most cases, we may wish to make improvements on the way!! A simple BAD example without pulse distribution - sharing and splitting!?!? 1PPS PROBLEMS 1. On Time edge is slewed in time. 2. Signal amplitude is degraded as a consequence of cable lengths and impedance mismatching. 3. System can not tolerate a fault anywhere. PTP80 - Accurate On time edge 1PPS Output 4.
