While the majority of the collection is post-wwii philatelic material, there is some earlier content and numerous pickings throughout. The albums have not been well-stored resulting in some mostly minor toning. Because of the thematic style of the collection, careful inspection will probably be rewarded. (5) PITURE POSTARDS - The Kevin rotty ollection - Advertising 400 Lot A PLUMMER'S TAILORS: Shopfront window in Melbourne with cart & horse (stuffed?), unused. 100T 2139 B Ex Lot 2139 LASSETTER & O: 1909 "The Morning Delivery" (slightly trimmed at the top) & "The Buyer's Encyclopaedia", each with NSW ½d with 'L/S' perfin. (2) 150T 2140 A/A+ Ex Lot 2140 SINGER SEWING MAHINES: 1908 "Kangaroo Hunting" complete set of 8, very fine to superb unused; with the badly defective outer envelope inscribed "Souvenir for the American Fleet". 2 Prestige Philately - Auction No 182 Page: 2 PITURE POSTARDS - The Kevin rotty ollection - Humour 2154 A/B Ex Lot 2154 "Australian Post ards" - 'Bulletin' Series: non-"bulletin" cards from Norman Lindsay's whimsical "Australian Native (Animals)" series including "Gymnasium Work", "The Bicycle Road Race" & "Seaside Amusements" etc, some soiling on the address sides, one unused. See also # (6) PITURE POSTARDS - The Kevin rotty ollection - Rural Australia Ex Lot TRANSPORT: Engaging group of bullock teams of various sizes hauling timber, wool & a threshing machine, crossing water, on a bridge, etc. (77) 2165 Ex Lot 2165 TRANSPORT: Marvellous array of camel cards including pulling supplies, sandalwood, even buggies!, several with Afghans, a few mining-related, many real photo types including passing an early automobile, includes South Australian 1d Postal ard "arting - Far North", etc. One of the most appealing lots in the collection. (74) PITURE POSTARDS - The Kevin rotty ollection - Miscellaneous Subjects BIRDS: Extensive collection of native birds with lots of kookaburras & emus plus brolgas, parrots, cassowarries, owls, waterbirds, rifle birds etc, many artist cards & real photo types. (170 approx) FAUNA: Native animals including Koalas (25), Kangaroos (30+), platypus, possums, thylacine (reproduction of 1895 photo), dingoes, rodents, etc, many artist cards & real photo types. [Many of the koalas are labelled "native bears": they are not even related to bears. And all the possums are wrongly called "opossums"] (150 approx) 1,000T 175T 150T

3 Prestige Philately - Auction No 182 Page: 3 OMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA - Decimal Issues Ex Lot P A/B Kangaroos & Koalas self-adhesive "roll" stamps 45c Imperforate proof block of 24 comprising four strips of the six designs with 'LAY EDGE' in the margin & one "koala" on the reverse; and a similar block from an uncut "perforated" proof sheet with two "koalas" on the reverse; some minor bends. (2 blocks) P A/B Ex Lot Kangaroos & Koalas similar proof blocks of 36 with the first unit in each of the first four rows being an 'ONLY/25/STAMPS/LEFT' label, some minor bends. (2 blocks) BRITISH ANTARTI EXPEDITION - Outwards Voyage A Lot "Weekly Press" PPs "Rattling down the Discovery's Rigging" on orange-buff & on the reverse "The Discovery: Stoker Page and Vinker" (a dog) on pale green (MW #D-3), unused B Lot "Weekly Press" PPs "Rattling down the Discovery's Rigging" on yellow-buff & on the reverse "The Discovery: Stoker Page and Vinker" (a dog) on pale pink (MW #D3), very early usage with hristchurch cds of 23DE01.

4 Prestige Philately - Auction No 182 Page: BRITISH ANTARTI EXPEDITION - Return to New Zealand The "Discovery", "Morning" & "Terra Nova" arrived back at Lyttelton on 1st April overs posted from the Antarctic & postmarked in April are included in the two previous sections A- Lot Wrench's "Links of Empire Series 3 No 4" PP with polar bear & text advising that the cards were carried by the Discovery "during her wanderings" & were posted "at the port of call on their return to civilisation" (MW #DA-4), addressed in Scott's hand to Mrs Wrench in Ireland, hristchurch cds of 25AP04, a couple of tiny blemishes. [The image is of a polar bear, that inhabits only the Arctic region. Over the years, much ridicule has been uncharitably heaped on this image. Of course, when these cards were designed, nobody had a clue what fauna might be found anywhere in Antarctica] 2468 A- Lot a very similar card addressed in Scott's hand to a friend in England, unusually with Barred Numeral '134' of Bristol struck on arrival, a couple of tiny blemishes. Lot B 1904 another example from a different sender, bumped corners B Ex Lot ditto "Born in the Antarctic" (dog) pink/blue, local usage at hristchurch; & "Seals on the Floe" blue/buff, to the USA with the stamp unusually on the viewside; MW #DD-3 & 11, a couple of minor blemishes. Philatelic Foundation ertificate (2012) as Scott #4a.
