2 LET S MAKE KENTVILLE CANADA S MOST VIBRANT SMALL TOWN. We re full of energy and enthusiasm. We re active and alive. We re a breath of fresh air and we want to present ourselves in the best way possible. That s why we created this document. These guidelines will help you understand the Kentville brand. Inside, you ll find everything you need to bring our brand to life with vibrancy. Please read these guidelines, understand them and follow them. 3 OUR BRAND VOICE. Our brand voice guides everything we do. It informs the tone, style and manner of all our communications. Our brand voice is all about how we communicate, rather than what we communicate. Our brand voice is rooted in our personality. It is natural and real nothing about Kentville is over-manufactured or over-done. It is thoughtful, intelligent and considerate we make everyone feel welcome and included. 5 KENTVILLE LOGO The logo for Kentville is our primary identifier. To ensure our logo is legible and always looking its best, you should keep all other logos and text clear by a measure of the height of the stem of the i..75 MINIMUM SIZING The smallest acceptable size for reproducing our logo is.75 in width. 6 TAGLINE LOGO Our tagline logo helps tell more of our brand story. A breath of fresh air is our promise to everyone who visits us, does business with us and lives in Kentville. Please use our tagline logo when space allows and when it benefits or improves the communication. There are two different weights within the font family, offering flexibility when creating our communications. 10 LOOK AND FEEL SECONDARY TYPEFACE There is a secondary typeface approved for use when Proxima Nova is not available or applicable. 11 LOOK AND FEEL PRIMARY COLOURS Our colours are an important part of our vibrant brand. Bright and bold, they help tell the story of Kentville being a breath of fresh air. Our blue and green primary colours are also a nod to our love of the outdoors. 12 LOOK AND FEEL PHOTOGRAPHY Photography plays an important role in many of our communications. When selecting photography, make sure it is authentic to Kentville, appropriate for the communication s content and engaging for the target audience. You can use a variety of photography to enhance your message, including landscapes or objects from our town and portraits of our people. 13 ICONS OUTLINE ICONS Designed for a variety of purposes, from advertisements and our website to wayfinding signage, our outline icons communicate the vibrancy of our town. Categorized according to our five brand benefits, our outline icons work well together as a group or individually. 14 ICONS FILLED ICONS Adapted for a more specific purpose, our filled icons act as a vessel for photography. The photographs selected should reflect the icon and its category, and follow the photography guidelines detailed on page 8. These icons look best large, cropped and against one of our complementary brand colours (see page 7). 15 ICONS USING THE ICONS Our icons can be the star or a great assistant to the materials you produce. In order to make sure they look their best, please follow these rules. OUTLINE ICONS You can horizontally flip and rotate the outline icons, as long as they maintain legibility. Scaling uniformaly and minimal cropping is allowed. FILLED ICONS When placing photographs inside the filled icons, ensure they fill it entirely and the subject matter is distinguishable. As noted on page 10, the filled icons look best large, and minimally cropped off the page. Following the rules of the outline icons, don t flip them upside down, stretch or distort them. You can crop more of the filled icons than the outline icons, but the shape should still be distinguishable. Don t flip the icons upside down. Don t crop the majority of an icon.
