The Nicolet Evolution 500 UV-Vis is a system you can trust to deliver the performance needed for your demanding laboratory applications. The double-beam, variablebandwidth, single photomultiplier tube detector (PMT), premium optics and superior quality of system design all contribute to an unsurpassed level of data integrity. The automatic optical alignment of the spectrophotometer occurs at every initialization to guarantee the system is optimized. The system s operation can be evaluated with a Calibration Validation Unit, which verifies that the instrument is working according to factory specifications. In addition, the modular design allows for easy identification and correction of problems. The unique Validation Qualification Calibration (VQC) concept used in the development and manufacture of this instrument provides you with all the evidence needed to prove the quality of data to internal auditors and regulatory agencies. 4 Superb Optical Design for Reliable Results The optical design of the Nicolet Evolution 500 system ensures high-quality performance for the analysis of any sample type. The solid-aluminum baseplate guarantees maximum ruggedness and superb stability. Optical surfaces are quartz coated for protection from ozone degradation and other corrosive vapors. Large, 90% reflective mirrors and a single, research-grade Ebert monochromator maximize the energy throughput. In addition, the Nicolet Evolution 500 Interferometric Grating provides exceptional stray light performance with a measurement capability up to 6A. The instrument also uses a unique, intelligent modulator to break the beam rather than divert it with a rotating chopper, thus eliminating chopper wobble. A stepping micrometer, directly driving the Interferometric Grating, guarantees wavelength accuracy and repeatability. The micrometer drive stops to take sample, reference and dark current measurements, removing peak distortions and shifts affecting slewed designs. Monochromator entrance and exit slits are on a circular plate, ensuring wavelength accuracy and bandwidth reproducibility at all bandwidth settings. Simple and Secure Full-Featured Local Control The Nicolet Evolution 500 Local Control system is designed for laboratories requiring high performance and simple operation in a space-saving design. Local Control offers a full-featured set of UV-Visible software, with no loss of functionality. Results, graphics, calibrations and methods are all displayed on the VGA-quality screen and can be printed on to a variety of printers. Data and methods can be stored in the instrument memory or to a standard floppy disk drive. The proprietary keypad provides excellent resistance to laboratory solvents and chemicals. The reverse printing prevents the characters from wearing off. The integral floppy disk creates the perfect multi-user instrument. Operators can load application methods from their personal disks, run the analysis and save the data to the same disk. The data format can be read by an office PC. 5 System Calibration and Validation for Guaranteed Data Quality Thermo Electron is the world leader in UV-Vis spectrophotometer calibration, with a calibration history dating back over 35 years. All Nicolet Evolution 500 spectrophotometers are factory calibrated for wavelength accuracy for the entire UV-Visible range, using fundamental emission lines from mercury lamp and deuterium sources. The unique Calibration Validation Unit (CVU) is offered to test the instrument performance. The CVU is located inside the instrument. The calibrated wavelength and absorbance filters of the CVU are secondary Certified Reference Materials traceable to NPL 1 or NIST 2. The CVU can be set to automatically test the system to factory specifications and generate printed and electronic results. The CVU is only removed when it is returned to Thermo Electron s UKAS 3 and NVLAP 4 certified re-calibration laboratory. Thermo Electron s Validation Qualification Calibration (VQC) concept is designed for easy installation and verification in QA/QC and pharmaceutical laboratories.
