His family walked across the entire Great Sandy Desert, north to Joanna Springs and south to Parnngurr. Muuki is a very senior and knowledgeable Martu man and is often called upon as an authority by other artists. Muuki paints Kulyakartu country and the country all around Wirnpa, a major ceremonial meeting place in the north. His works are encyclopaedic, detailing all aspects of country from vanished roads to living, sacred, water-giving snakes.

5 Waringarri Aboriginal Arts Jinamoom is the area of the Keep River as it flows through the gorge country. During the wet season it is joined by little floodwater creeks and the open country becomes marshy. There are lots of new grasses and spinifex growing and you can see the spirit of country as it moves across the land with the wind in the grasses. Peggy Griffiths arts practice reflects her strong commitment to her Miriwoong culture. Her elegant imagery resonates with references to cultural performance of which she is a renowned dancer. The winding of waterways are the sinuous and graceful body movements of a dancer; the outlining dotting reflects a performer s body painting. Her works document the traditional country of her mother and grandfather and her recent works capture the movement of wind through the spinifex country which for the artist is evidence that the spirit of culture is alive. Jinamoom Wet Season Peggy Griffiths Etching on paper, edition of 30 (1 available). 53 x 33 cm P /30 $1,100 Luga Kitty Ngyalgarri Malarvie Japanese wood block print, edition of 30 (2 available) 27.5 x 20 cm P /30. $325 Luga Kittey Ngyalgarri Malarvie Japanese wood block print, edition of 30 (2 available) 51 x 36 cm P /30 $395
6 Waringarri Aboriginal Arts In this print the artist has depicted her favourite bush tucker: bush peanuts and bush plum. Bush peanuts are found all year round while bush plum is abundant in the wet season. Gloria fondly remembers gathering these bush tuckers when she was a young girl. You had to be careful with bush peanut as the outside skin was very prickly and could make you itch. As a younger emerging artist at Waringarri Aboriginal Arts Gloria Mengil is engaging with the cultural traditions of representing country through repetition as she develops a cultural dialogue and connection between herself and the country she is painting. Her motifs of circular forms and moving lines present her families traditional country. My Favourite Bush Foods Gloria Wungardoo Mengil Silkscreen print, edition of 20 (2 available) 25 x 25 cm P /20 $225 Binjin Judy Mengil Screen print, edition of 30 (3 available) 50 x 33.5 cm P /30 $375 Nyabal, Nyabal Louise Malarvie Japanese wood block print, edition of 20 (2 available) 23 x 33 cm P /20 $325

12 Tjanpi Desert Weavers My Country Dallas Smythe Grass, raffia and yarn sculpture 200 x 60 x 60 cm EXHAA15-28 $3,720 In my country, the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, there are different types of goanna; tirnka, ( sand goanna) ngirntaka ( perentie goanna) and mulurmaru ( black goanna). I have been hunting the ngirntaka for a long time, I learnt from my Grandmother, and when we go out bush my husband teaches my son. We look for the tracks of goanna hand print and the marks left from the movement of the goanna tail in the sand. Not far from my sisters birth place at Giles Creek, there is a waterhole where the ngirntaka tells a story of how he turned into a water snake, this story has been passed down from generation to generation and keeps me connected to my country.
