2 Copyright Information This quilt was designed by Jeanne Butler as part of a group swap. Jeanne used my fabrics for the quilt. She has graciously given me permission to create a pattern for this very fun quilt. I have created all of my quilt patterns to be used as a FREE resource to other quilters. I am not selling them and explicitly prohibit others from doing so. That being said, all you wonderful quilters please use them to create quilts for yourself and others. You may sell any quilts you make for a profit (no mass production). You may exhibit your quilts. 3 Coffee from Seattle Available in one size Comfort quit 68 by 68 Fabric Requirements: Background Fabric 2 yards or 8 FQs Coffee Fabric for the Star Centers (This fabric needs to be fussy cut so you need more) and Squares for the Inner Border - 1 ¼ yard or 5 FQs Star Points - Black Fabric - Brown Border Fabric - Striped Border Fabric - 1 yards or 4 FQs ½ yard ¾ yard ¾ yard Cindy Carter 2009 Coffee from Seattle 3

5 Directions for making your stars: Make (25). Step #1: Draw a diagonal line through the back of your 2.5 squares for your star points. Step #2: Sew one square from Step #1 to a 3.5 by 4.5 rectangle of background fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim a 1/4 seam. Press to the triangle. Cindy Carter 2009 Coffee from Seattle 5

6 Step #3 : Sew second square to the unit from Step #2. Sew on the drawn line. Trim a 1/4 seam. Press to the triangle. Make (4) per star. There are (25) stars. Assemble your Stars: Step #4: Sew a 3.5 background square to the unit in Step #3. Make (2) of these per star. Press to the squares. Cindy Carter 2009 Coffee from Seattle 6

7 Step #5: Sew one of your units from Step #3 to either side of a 4.5 square of fussy cut center square fabric. Make one of these units per star. Press to the center square. Step #6: Sew a unit from Step #4 to either side of the unit from Step #5. Press to the center. Make (25). Cindy Carter 2009 Coffee from Seattle 7

8 Step #7: Sew your stars together in (5) rows of (5) stars. Alternate the direction of the stars so that the seams nest when sewing them together. Step #8: Sew the rows together. Each row pressed in the alternate direction so that the seams nest. Press in either direction. Step #9: Sew your inner borders. Make (2) of this unit. One row has (13) black and (12) coffee fabric. The other row has (13) coffee fabric and (12) black fabric. Press rows in alternating directions. Sew with seams nesting. Press in either direction. Cindy Carter 2009 Coffee from Seattle 8

9 Step #10: Sew your inner borders. Make (2) of this unit. One row has (15) black and (14) coffee fabric. The other row has (15) coffee fabric and (14) black fabric. Press rows in alternating directions. Sew with seams nesting. Press in either direction. Step #11: Sew the borders from Step #9 to the sides of your stars. Press to the border. 10 Step #13: Sew your outer borders. Make (2) of this unit. Press to the brown. Step #14: Sew your outer borders. Make (2) of this unit. Press to the brown. Step #15: Sew the borders from Step #13 to the sides of the quilt. Press to the outer border. Step #16: Sew the borders from Step #14 to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press to the border.
