Quantities of yarn are approximate as they are based on average requirements. Check actual yarn colour as printing may not match yarn exactly. Check the yarn labels and use only balls of the same batch. Requirements Pair each Milward 4.5mm (UK 7) Milward stitch holder and bodkin for sewing up. TENSION 20 sts and 25 rows to 10cm (stocking st) and 22 sts and 24 rows (fairisle patt) on 4.5mm needles or size needed to obtain correct tension. Caution It is important to check your tension before starting your garment and we cannot accept liability for the finished product if any yarn other than the specified yarn is used. If there are too many stitches to 10cm, your tension is tight and you should change to a larger size needle. If there are too few, your tension is loose and you should change to a smaller size needle. Rows 3 and 4 K4, turn, K to end. Rows 5 and 6 K2, turn, K to end. Rows 7 to 12 In 2 nd C, as rows 1 to 6. Rows 13 to 18 In 3 rd C, as rows 1 to 6. Rep these 18 rows once more. Leave these 6 sts on a stitch holder and 43-48cm sizes only: Left Ear Flap With 4.5mm needles and 3 rd C, cast on 6 sts. Row 1 (RS), in 3 rd C, K6. Row 2 K6.

3 Rows 3 and 4 K4, turn, K to end. Rows 5 and 6 K2, turn, K to end. Rows 7 to 12 In 2 nd C, as rows 1 to 6. Rows 13 to 18 In 1 st C, as rows 1 to 6. Rep these 18 rows once more. Leave these 6 sts on a stitch holder and 55-58cm sizes only: Right Ear Flap With 4.5mm needles and 1 st C, cast on 9 sts. Row 1 (RS), in 1 st C, K9. Row 2 K9. Rows 3 and 4 K7, turn, K to end. Rows 5 and 6 K5, turn, K to end. Rows 7 and 8 K3, turn, K to end. Rows 9 to 16 In 2 nd C, as rows 1 to 8. Rows 17 to 24 In 3 rd C, as rows 1 to 8. Rep these 24 rows once more, then rows 1 to 8 again. Next row (RS), in 4 th C, K9 [11, 11, 14], work across Left Ear Flap thus: K6 [6, 9, 9] from stitch holder, pick up and knit 5 [5, 6, 6] sts along inner side edge and 6 [6, 9, 9] sts from cast-on edge, K21 [25, 25, 29], work across Right Ear Flap in the same way as for Left Ear Flap, K9 [11, 11, 14]. (14 sts). Next row (K2tog) 7 times. (7 sts). Fasten off, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and draw up tightly. MAKE UP Block out to size with pins, cover with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Lower Border With 4mm needles, RS facing and 5 th C, working around lower edge of Hat, knit up 9 [11, 11, 14] sts to left Ear Flap, 18 [18, 22, 22] sts around left Ear Flap, 21 [25, 25, 29] sts from front, 18 [18, 22, 22] sts around right Ear Flap, then 9 [11, 11, 14] sts along to centre back (75 [83, 91, 101] sts). Next row (WS), K. Break 5 th C, join in 4 th C. Next row K. Cast off knitways. Sew in ends. Embroidery on fairisle panel Using photograph as a guide and using 6 th C, work a small Straight Stitch for the eye of each Llama motif then work 3 Straight Stitches on the main body of each Llama to form the outline of the blanket. Using 1 st C and 3 rd C alternately, work a diagonal Cross Stitch inside these Straight Stitches from corner to corner.

4 Using 2 nd C, work 4 straight Stitches to form a diamond over the lower motifs between each Llama. Join back seam. Tassels Using a combination of 1 st C, 2 nd C, 3 rd C and 5 th C, make 10 [10, 14, 14] Small Tassels using 16 lengths, each 10cm long, for each Small Tassel. Trim to desired length. Arrange them evenly around lower shaped edge of each Ear Flap. Attach securely. Using 3 rd and 5 th C, make 1 Large Tassel using 60 lengths, each 30cm long. Bind the Tassel with 1 st C and 3 rd C. Using 2 x 50cm lengths each of 1 st C, 2 nd C, 3 rd C and 5 th C, make a twisted cord. Attach the Large Tassel to one end and attach the other end to the top of the Hat securely.
