(91.5 cm) long or longer GAUGE 1 ripple (30 sts) /2 rows = about 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) measured from peak to peak. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. STITCH EXPLANATIONS kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left hand needle, then k through back of same st 1 st increased. ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right hand needle; insert left hand needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together 1 st decreased. PATTERN STITCHES Beg Half Diamond Pattern (worked over 15 sts) Row 1 (WS): Knit. Row 2: Ssk, k to end of row 14 sts. Rows 3-24: Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 11 times 3 sts rem in Row 24. Row 25 (WS): K3tog 1 st. Fasten off last st. Diamond Pattern (worked over 30 sts) Row 1: K13, k2tog, pm, ssk, k13, turn. Row 2: K28. Row 3: K to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, sm, ssk, k to end of row 26 sts in current diamond.

3 Row 4: Knit. Rows 5-26: Rep Rows 3 and 4 for 11 more times 4 sts in Row 25. Row 27: K2tog, remove marker, ssk 2 sts. Row 28: K2tog 1 st. Fasten off last st. Ending Half Diamond Pattern (worked over 15 sts) Row 1 (WS): Knit. Row 2: K to last 2 sts, k2tog 14 sts. Rows 3-24: Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 11 more times 3 sts in Row 24. Row 25 (WS): K3tog 1 st. Fasten off last st. Ripple Pattern (worked over a multiple of 30 sts) Note: If you wish to use markers to keep track of your sts, place a marker after each set of 30 sts as instructed (at the top of peaks). Remove these markers as you work the first diamond row following the ripple section. Row 1 (RS): (Kfb, k12, k2tog, ssk, k12, kfb, place marker (pm)) 8 times, kfb, k12, k2tog, ssk, k12, kfb. Row 2: Knit, slipping markers as you come to them. Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Ripple pattern, slipping markers as you come to them. NOTES 1. Afghan is worked in one piece in alternating sections of a ripple pattern and rows of diamonds, following a Stripe Sequence and a diagram ripple rows are followed by 2 rows of diamonds. The ripple pattern consists of decrease (k2tog, ssk) "valleys" and increase (kfb) "peaks". In the first row of diamonds, 9 full diamonds are worked separately over the valleys of the previous ripple pattern row. In the second row of diamonds, 8 full diamonds, with one half diamond at beg and end, are worked over the first diamond row. 3. Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle as if working on straight needles. 4. An edging is worked along each long side edge of the Afghan. STRIPE SEQUENCE Work 6 rows each with C, A and E, first diamond row with H and 2nd row with B; 6 rows each with D, A and G, first diamond row with E, and 2nd row with A; 6 rows each with F, H and A, first diamond row with C, and 2nd row with D; 6 rows each with G, E and B, first diamond row with F, and 2nd row with A; 6 rows each with D, H and C, first diamond row with G, and 2nd row with E; 6 rows each with A, F and H, first diamond row with B, and 2nd row with D; 6 rows each with G, E and F, first diamond row with A, and 2nd row with H; 6 rows each with D, B and G.

4 AFGHAN Set-Up for First Ripple Section With C, cast on 270 sts. Knit 1 row. Ripple Section With C, beg with Row 1 of pattern, work in Ripple pattern for 4 rows (for a total of 6 rows including cast-on/pick-up row and first knit row) you will have 9 ripples (270 sts) in each row of the ripple section. With A, work in Ripple pattern for 6 rows. With E, work in Ripple pattern for 6 rows. Diamond Section First Diamond Row Diamond 1 With H, work Diamond pattern over first 30 sts, leaving rem sts unworked for rem diamonds. Diamonds 2-9 From RS with H work Diamond pattern over next 30 unworked sts following previous diamond. Second Diamond Row Beg Half Diamond From RS with B, pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along right hand side of first diamond of first diamond row. With B, work Beg Half Diamond pattern. Diamond 1 From RS with B, pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along left hand side of same first row diamond, pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along right hand side of next first row diamond 30 sts. Beg with Row 1 of pattern, work Diamond pattern over these 30 sts. Diamonds 2-8 From RS with B, work same as diamond 1. Ending Half Diamond From RS with B, pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along left hand side of last first row diamond. With B, work Ending Half Diamond pattern. Set-Up for Next Ripple Section From RS with D, pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along left hand side of Beg Half Diamond, *pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along right hand side of next Diamond, pm; pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along left hand side of next

5 Diamond; rep from * 7 more times, pick up and k15 sts evenly spaced along right hand side of Ending Half Diamond 270 sts. Knit 1 row. Continuing in Stripe Sequence, rep Ripple Section, Diamond Section, and Set Up for Next Ripple Section 6 more times, then rep Ripple Section only once more ending with 5 rows G. With G, bind off (for last row of Stripe Sequence). FINISHING Side Edging From RS with G, pick up and k224 sts evenly spaced along one long side edge. Knit 1 row. Bind off. Rep edging on opposite side of Afghan. Weave in ends.
