Shown in size Small: 33 " Finished Chest Measurement This is a strictly feminine cardigan with lovely peplum waist and lots of pretty detailing. It's another great top-down design to minimize seaming and allow you the option of easily adjusting sleeve and body length. The collar, front, and peplum shaping inserts feature a simple mock cable rib (done using basic lace technique, no cable needles!). The sleeves are shown 3/4 length with a bold open lace medallion design and subtly flared shaping. The waist is further accented with a wide ribbon held in place with mock cable belt loops that appear to extend beautifully from each "gored" peplum shaping insert. The back features the same peplum styling and belt loops for a great-looking cardigan whether the wearer is coming or going! The only seaming or sewing is for the underside of the sleeves, the underarms, the belt loops, and the button. The button bands are knit in. 3) "pm" = place marker and "sm" = slip marker. When cont in patts as established or working even, just slip the markers as you encounter them, unless otherwise noted. 4) "m1" = make 1 st by lifting up the strand between sts (the one you just knit and the one you are about to knit on your left needle) using the left needle from front to back, then knitting into the back of it to create a new stitch. 5) "m1-p" = make 1 st on the purl side by lifting up the strand between sts using the left needle from front to back, then purling into the back of it to create a new stitch. 10 SLEEVE AND UNDERARM SEAMS Sew sleeve seams. Sew extra cast on stitches of sleeves to extra cast on stitches of body: This photo shows the view after the sleeve seam (at bottom center) is finished (is you worked the sleeves as rows). You then sew the cast on stitches of the body to the cast on stitches of the sleeves (it will be "perpendicular" to the sleeve seam). For a neater finished look, you may wish to sew with RS facing so you can see where to sew to avoid any holes. Sew button opposite buttonhole using sewing needle and thread. Weave in all loose ends. Steam or block lightly, in particular, the Open Medallion Lace cuffs, which should be pinned and stretched out. y page 10 y
