10 Appendix I: Professional Staff Biographies Bruce Karsh Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager Mr. Karsh is Oaktree s Co-Chairman and one of the firm s co-founders. He also is Chief Investment Officer and serves as portfolio manager for Oaktree s Distressed Opportunities, Value Opportunities and Multi-Strategy Credit strategies. Prior to co-founding Oaktree, Mr. Karsh was a managing director of TCW Asset Management Company, and the portfolio manager of the Special Credits Funds from 1988 until Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Karsh worked as Assistant to the Chairman of SunAmerica, Inc. Prior to that, he was an attorney with the law firm of O Melveny & Myers. Before working at O Melveny & Myers, Mr. Karsh clerked for the Honorable Anthony M. Kennedy, then of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and presently Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Karsh holds an A.B. degree in economics summa cum laude from Duke University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Notes Editor of the Virginia Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Karsh is Chairman of the Board of Tribune Media Company and serves on the boards of a number of privately held companies. He is a member of the investment committee of the Broad Foundations. Mr. Karsh is Trustee Emeritus of Duke University, having served as Trustee from 2003 to 2015, and as Chairman of the Board of DUMAC, LLC, the entity that managed Duke s endowment, from 2005 to Sheldon Stone Principal and Portfolio Manager Mr. Stone is the head of Oaktree s high yield bond area. In this capacity, he serves as co-portfolio manager of Oaktree s U.S. High Yield Bond and Global High Yield Bond strategies and has supervisory responsibility for European High Yield Bonds. Mr. Stone, a co-founding member of Oaktree in 1995, established TCW s High Yield Bond department with Howard Marks in 1985 and ran the department for ten years. Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Stone worked with Mr. Marks at Citibank for two years where he performed credit analysis and managed high yield bond portfolios. From 1978 to 1983, Mr. Stone worked at The Prudential Insurance Company where he was a director of corporate finance, managing a fixed income portfolio exceeding $1 billion. Mr. Stone holds a B.A. degree from Bowdoin College and an M.B.A. in accounting and finance from Columbia University. Mr. Stone serves as a Trustee of Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and serves on the investment committee of Bowdoin College. David Rosenberg and Co-Portfolio Manager Mr. Rosenberg serves as co-portfolio manager for Oaktree s U.S. High Yield Bond and Global High Yield Bond strategies. He joined Oaktree in 2004 following graduation from the University of Southern California with an M.B.A. in business administration. Before attending graduate school, Mr. Rosenberg served as an associate in the Franchise Systems Finance Group at J.P. Morgan. Mr. Rosenberg holds an M.P.A. in professional accounting with a concentration in finance and a B.A. degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Armen Panossian and Portfolio Manager Mr. Panossian joined Oaktree in 2007 as a senior member of its Distressed Debt investment team where he contributed to the analysis and portfolio construction of its funds. In January 2014, he joined the U.S. Senior Loan team to assume co-portfolio management responsibilities and lead the development of Oaktree s CLO business. Mr. Panossian joined Oaktree from Pequot Capital Management, where he spent three years, most recently as a vice president, working on their distressed debt strategy. Prior experience includes two years as a financial analyst in the mergers and acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Mr. Panossian received a B.A. degree in economics with honors and distinction from Stanford University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He then went on to receive an M.S. degree in health service research from Stanford Medical School and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. Over the years he has covered a wide range of sectors and invested through a number of financial cycles. Previously, he was employed by Schroder Salomon Smith Barney as an associate in both the Mergers & Acquisitions and Financial Sponsors divisions, working on a number of high profile public transactions. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte & Touche and is an honours graduate of the University of Nottingham, England. Madelaine Jones, CFA and Co-Portfolio Manager Oaktree Capital Management (UK) LLP Ms. Jones joined Oaktree s London office in 2003 and serves as co-portfolio manager for the European Senior Loan strategy, and assistant portfolio manager for the European High Yield Bond strategy and portfolio manager for the European CLO strategy. Before joining Oaktree, Ms. Jones spent more than three years at Deutsche Bank AG in London as a senior associate in the Leveraged Debt Origination Group specializing in loan, mezzanine and high yield bond financings to support European leveraged buyouts. Prior thereto, she spent two years in the Acquisition Finance Group at Natwest Group plc. Ms. Jones received a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Durham, England. She is a CFA charterholder. Stu Spangler, CFA and Co-Portfolio Manager Mr. Spangler joined Oaktree in 1997 after serving as a convertible securities portfolio manager for Aon Corp., a global provider of insurance and consulting services. In addition, Mr. Spangler performed fundamental analysis on equities spanning numerous industries for the firm. Mr. Spangler holds a B.S. degree in Management from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and is a CFA charterholder. Abe Ofer and Co-Portfolio Manager Mr. Ofer joined Oaktree in Prior to joining Oaktree, Mr. Ofer was co-portfolio manager of the International Convertible Value portfolios at Trust Company of the West. After joining TCW in 1984, he initially served as an equity research analyst specializing in the field of technology, after which he joined the High Yield and Convertible Securities unit as a credit analyst in In 1989, he began to manage investments in busted convertible portfolios. Mr. Ofer holds a B.A. degree in mathematics from Reed College and an M.B.A. in accounting and finance from the University of Chicago. Andrew Watts, CFA and Portfolio Manager Prior to joining Oaktree in 1995, Mr. Watts served as a vice president and assistant portfolio manager in Trust Company of the West s Convertible Value area. Mr. Watts joined TCW in 1992 after five years with the investment division of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, where he developed and managed the State s portfolio of convertible securities as well as other fixed income portfolios. 12 Appendix I: Professional Staff Biographies (continued) Julio Herrera and Portfolio Manager Mr. Herrera serves as the portfolio manager of Oaktree s Emerging Markets Opportunities and Emerging Markets Total Return strategies. Prior to joining Oaktree in 2012, Mr. Herrera was the President of Fintech Advisory, Inc., a large family office specializing in distressed assets in emerging markets. During his fifteen-year tenure at Fintech, Mr. Herrera played a leading role in many of the largest debt restructurings in the emerging markets, particularly in Latin America, Asia and the Former Soviet Union. From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Herrera was Senior Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets Corporate Fixed Income Research with Lehman Brothers Inc., where he was responsible for asset recoveries and restructurings for a portfolio of Latin American distressed assets. From 1994 to 1995, Mr. Herrera was Vice President at ING Capital Holdings Inc., where he worked on the proprietary trading of distressed and special situations in the emerging markets. Before joining ING, he spent five years as an investment analyst and portfolio manager at RRH Capital Management. Mr. Herrera holds a B.A. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. Wayne Dahl and Investment Risk Officer Mr. Dahl joined Oaktree in 2016 from Prosiris Capital Management in New York, where he was the Chief Risk Officer. Prior thereto, Mr. Dahl was Head of Risk Management for Canyon Capital Advisors in Los Angeles for nine years where he developed, implemented and managed the firm s risk measurement and reporting systems across all investment strategies.
