3 FROM THE DESK OF THE GENERAL MANAGER For almost a century, the Rose Bowl Stadium has stood the test of time, becoming an icon for the City of Pasadena, Southern California and America. The Central Arroyo, in which the Stadium resides, has become identifiable on its own, welcoming an estimated 1.5 million annual visitors who attend Stadium events as well as participate in recreational and health-oriented activities. It serves as a hub for many lifestyles as destination for activity and access. The national profile of the Stadium and the public use of the Central Arroyo is at an all-time high with entertainment opportunities for all demographics, skill levels, and fans. Improvements at the Stadium and in the surrounding areas will always be a priority of the Rose Bowl Stadium s management team, the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation and its supporting Board of Directors and Advisory Committee. This civic responsibility also includes the necessary adaptations and modifications to enhance our business operations, to maintain a premier event day experience and to promote philanthropy by giving back to the community. 4 ABOUT THE ROSE BOWL LEGACY FOUNDATION FUN FACT: THE 1931 ROSE BOWL GAME IS REPORTEDLY THE SOURCE OF THE HIGH FIVE. ALABAMA S FIVE YARD FOGERTY GOT THE BALL 5 TIMES DURING THE GAME, AND CARRIED IT FIVE YARDS EACH TIME. FANS AND TEAMMATES STARTED SLAPPING PALMS AND CHEERING HIGH FIVE IN THEIR EXCITEMENT, AND THUS THE HIGH FIVE WAS SUPPOSEDLY BORN. The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt organization whose primary purpose is to financially ensure the appropriate honoring of a historic past, while building a premier future through making the venue and surrounding activity spaces even more distinguished and iconic as one of the world s most celebrated entertainment areas. The Foundation s four core values were born out of respect for those that have made the Central Arroyo a special, unique place for all types of visitors, regardless of demographic background or demographic and economic backgrounds. It is the responsibility of the Foundation to continue growing the strength of this legacy through creating symbiotic, expansive options to best grow and supplement current activity at the venue and in the Central Arroyo. As a National Historic Landmark, the host to five Super Bowls, two Olympiads, two World Cup Finals and many more historic moments, the near-century young venue needs updates within several areas of its operational infrastructure to best support the event-day experience and its future. Private, philanthropic support for capital improvements is the primary focus of the Foundation. Revitalizing the venue through charitable gifts, supporting its enhancement will ensure a state-of-the-art environment for future generations to enjoy. Building a storied history since 19 as America s Stadium, the Rose Bowl and its surroundings informally bring moments to life through a premier experience on a world-class stage.
