Prez Deb works nonstop to support our club s RI efforts. Sara Lamnin & Paul Martin Charley Plummer & Pres. Debby Roger Power & Paul Martin Dictionaries We re completed distribution in all but three schools! According to Prez D, the thank you s are among the very best part. Prez Deb read a lovely thank you letter sent to us by a community member who will be invited to engage in our program forward. The letter reads as follows: Dear Debby, I would like to thank you and The Rotary Club of Hayward for the lovely dictionary provided to my younger nephew. It will also serve a dual purpose as it will also be used by his younger sister. I will be sure that they cherish it for a long time. As the only degree holder in my family, I have taken it upon myself to encourage reading and education among the other members of my family. I often give books as gifts for birthdays and holidays often to the displeasure of the children. Without much support from other members of the family, I have struggled with concurrently educating my family and myself, so any outside encouragement will help my efforts immensely. Increasing literacy among the community should be one of the greatest efforts put forth among philanthropies. For your efforts I applaud you. Please let me know how I can return the favor. Robin Wilma s daughter Alisa will be in town next Monday for a special event. A tree will be dedicated to John Wilma in Giuliana Park. Club Members are invited to join Robin and Alisa at 3:00 on Monday November 10 th for this wonderful dedication to John.

4 Is it the truth? Sean Reinhart 1. He attended Mt. Eden High School in the 1980s, and his principal was none other than John Davini. 2. He paid his own way through college (Cal State Hayward) with his earnings from various jobs including grocery store clerk, restaurant waiter, and wedding DJ. 3. He met his wife Michele on the set of the Arsenio Hall show in Los Angeles in They were seated next to each other in the dog pound section of the audience. They were married a few years later. 4. He has never, ever seen an episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The one that is not true is #3. Sean and Michele met at a drag queen s birthday party in 1997! Fines: Bob Sakai $ Cal beat CSUEB in Men s Basketball (with a fine showing by the CSUEB men). Tom Gratny $ Visit to Arizona. Brian Schott $ Re-used photo of Andy. Don Mai $ Birthday. Brian Schott $ Club Anniversary. Bob Scheppler Spinning the wheel. Landed on Sergeant of Arms will give you a secret assignment. We can t wait! Speaker: Gary Rappenecker - On Solar Energy: Savings at the Speed of Light. Mixing with homeowners may be a bit ironic; Gary Rappenecker hasn t owned a home since 1997, when he and his wife sold out lock, stock, & barrel to do volunteer work in South America & East Africa. Melissa Cabrera, Pres. Debby De Angelis, Gary Rappenecker & Rebekkah Leber Although he hasn t recently owned land, (he IS shopping; any realtors in the room?) he has covered plenty. Having spent years in places where infrastructure and governments are unstable and unpredictable, working in the solar energy sector has been a welcome way to return to the United States. The sun stays steady when nothing else seems to. With The Solar Company s creative focus on education, environment, & new ideas, they gladly found a place for Mr. Rappenecker upon his return to the US in At today s event, he summarized the expertise of his colleagues who are veterans in the solar field. Greeters: Stan Smith & Valerie Caveglia. Next Meeting: November 10th our speaker will be Lt Col Alisa Wilma with updates from her Army service include support provided to the Ebola outbreak and her new battalion command at Ft. Benning, GA.
