1 [President] Ginny Mowery s main interests over many years have been historic architecture and gardening. She and her husband started to restore a c limestone house in Newville in 1971, and are still enjoying living (and working) there. Over the years Ginny has volunteered at CCHS as a docent and worked closely with Nancy Van Dolsen in her architectural survey of County properties. Ginny also enjoyed helping to plan, and served as docent on numerous holiday house tours and member holiday events. Ginny retired after 16 years as a Realtor and thoroughly enjoyed her real estate career. In 2007, Ginny became a Penn State Master Gardener and has maintained three acres at home along with volunteering at the Kings Gap garden as well as other garden-related events. She became a member of the CCHS Board in 2014 and was delighted to be asked to serve on various committees related to her passions, namely architecture and gardening. Ginny currently serves as chair of the Historic Property Committee. [VP] Andre Weltman is originally from New York City. After finishing medical training in NY and a stint with the Centers for Disease Control assigned to the NY State Department of Health, he moved to central Pennsylvania. He has worked for the PA Department of Health since Beginning in 1997 he moved to a log house adjoining the Michaux State Forest and four miles from Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Andre is the chairman of the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace State Park, a volunteer non-profit group that supports education, recreation and conservation in the state park. He frequently gives history tours of the state park s iron furnace area and inside the Ironmaster s Mansion while dressed in 19 th century garb. Every October he leads a living history team to demonstrate the historic process of turning wood into charcoal fuel for the furnace. His special interests include the industrial archaeology of the local iron industry, and the personal stories of local ironmasters such as Peter Ege, Jackson Fuller and Jay Cooke, and their workers at the former iron works in the South Mountains. [Treasurer] Tom Coolidge is a lifelong resident of Cumberland County. Today, he is pipeline and gas utility industry solutions manager at Esri, Inc., the world s leading provider of geographic information system software. Prior to joining Esri, Tom for more than 26 years played key leadership and management roles at Stoner Associates and its successor business units. In his community, Tom is a former chair and member of the Partnership for Better Health (the former Carlisle Area Health and Wellness Foundation), former president and board member of the Carlisle Area School District, former president and board member of the YMCA of Carlisle, former secretary and board member of Carlisle Hospital and Health Services, former secretary and board member of Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, former chair and member of the Borough of Carlisle Zoning Hearing Board, former member of Session and Trustees of Second Presbyterian Church, and member or participant in numerous other community activities. Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Communications

2 degree from Syracuse University. He also completed The (Senior) Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia. [Secretary] David Smith is a retired educator from Prince George's County Public Schools in Maryland although he is a native of Cumberland County. In 1996 he and his wife Ann restored the family homestead in Penn Township. He is the sixth-generation owner of the property. For eleven years he worked in the Hamilton Library, retiring in He has served as the editor of "Cumberland County History" for 11 years. He led the project to bring recognition to the Camp Michaux site in Cooke Township, a former POW Interrogation Camp during WWII. Part of that effort included having a state historical marker erected at the site. He was coauthor of "Penn Township, Cumberland County Pennsylvania 150 Years" in He was one of eight researcher/writers of "Water Powered Mills of Cumberland County" and author of "The Babes in the Woods Story" in He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Society since Colonel (retired) Charles D. Allen culminated a 30-year Army career as Director, Leader Development and is currently the Professor of Leadership and Cultural Studies in the Department of Command, Leadership, and Management at the United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA. A 1978 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he had overseas assignments in Germany, Honduras, and South Korea. His areas of interest are Strategic Leadership, Creativity and Innovation, Organizational Change, and Civil- Military Relations. He is a contributor and member of the "On Leadership" panel of The Washington Post. He is also Vice Chairman for the Board of Directors for Project Share, a local Carlisle Food Bank. He served as the committee co-chair for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration in Carlisle. Tita Eberly of Mechanicsburg served 2 previous terms of 6 years at CCHS, including one as Secretary. She was also former Volunteer Manager of the CCHS Gift Shop. Tita is a founding member of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association and Past President of that group. She is also past chairperson and founding Board members of the Mechanicsburg Area Foundation. Furthermore, Tita serves on the Asbury Foundation Board and is a member of the Greater Harrisburg Foundation. Pat Ferris- Forthcoming Bob Grochalski was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to the Harrisburg area in He is a 1983 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor s degree in Finance & Business. He has been a resident of Carlisle since Bob and his wife Michelle (of 32 years marriage) have 2 boys ages 25 and 23. He is especially proud of their son s accomplishments. They are graduates of Boiling Springs and proud to call themselves Bubblers. Mike is a Mechanical Engineer for McClure Company in Harrisburg and his youngest

3 son Matt is in the Air Force fighter pilot training program at Sheppard Air Force base in Texas learning to fly the F-16 Viper. Bob s priorities are his family, faith, friends, work and love for the outdoors. He enjoys boating, golfing, PSU tail gates, Steeler Football, fly fishing, hunting, camping and just being with his family & friends in the beautiful outdoors. Bob is currently a board member of the South Middleton Bubbler Foundation, volunteer for Junior Achievement of PA, currently serves on the CCHS Golf Committee, involved in many Chambers of Commerce throughout Central PA, and volunteers at his church (St. Patrick s) as a Pre-Cana mentor, Edge/Life Teen Youth Ministry Core member and Adorer in their Adoration Chapel. Bob is honored to have been asked to serve the Cumberland County Historical Society. Judge Kevin Hess and his wife Connie have been residents of Cumberland County since their days as students at Dickinson College in the late 1960s. Following his graduation from the Dickinson School of Law in 1972, Kevin served as an Assistant District Attorney and was also engaged in the private practice of law concentrating in family law and civil trial work. He was elected county Judge in 1985 and after 30 years on the Bench and a period of time as President Judge of the County he has assumed the role of Senior Judge in semi-retirement. Kevin has served on several Boards including Cantate Carlisle, the Carlisle Theatre and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He has been a member of the adjunct faculty at the Dickinson School of Law and is the author of a single volume textbook on Pennsylvania Civil Practice. He retired from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has served on the Vestry of St. John s Episcopal Church and has been a member of the choir there since college days. He and Connie spend much of their time traveling including visits to their 3 daughters and six grandchildren who now live in various parts of the United States. [ Kevin s interests include gardening and bird watching. His weekly attempts to break 100 on the golf course have been unsuccessful. ] Ann Hoffer is a Carlisle native, widow of the Hon George E Hoffer. She is a community volunteer who won the Molly Pitcher Award for her efforts. Serving on boards of United Way, CALC and Bosler Library is nothing compared to her activities at the Society since the 1970s. She has served as President of CCHS three times, was co chairman of the campaign to raise money to hire the first executive director. Ann was two times chair of building projects, chair of the museum expansion and is Trustee of the Two-Mile House. Ann loves 20 th century history and has recorded some of her memories of Carlisle in her book. She believes CCHS can meet any challenge and has supported these challenges. Linda Humes is a lifelong resident of Cumberland County. She is a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and Hood College. She was a junior high school science teacher and for many years was associated with her family s insurance business. After working for a number of years for the Friends of The State Museum she retired to concentrate more fully on volunteering in the community. She was a trustee of the Joseph T. Simpson Library for many years serving as

4 president and treasurer. She is on the Advisory Committee of the Mechanicsburg Area Foundation and the Cumberland County Historical Society s board of directors. She was a community advisor to the Mechanicsburg Downtown Partnership and a board member of the Mechanicsburg Main Street Trust the nonprofit agency that preceded the MDP. She served on Mechanicsburg Borough Council where her particular interests were downtown revitalization, historic architectural preservation, environmental protection and pedestrian safety. She continues to serve on the borough s Historic Architecture Review Board (HARB). Linda lives in downtown Mechanicsburg. Her two daughters live nearby, one in Perry County and the other on Main Street, Mechanicsburg along with her granddaughter. Jim Lisk was born and raised in Tazewell County Illinois. After graduating from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor s in Business he began a 30-year carrier in the transportation industry moving to Rockford, Cleveland, Baltimore, Coatesville, Lewistown, and finally Carlisle PA in With his wife Michelle he raised 3 children; all them graduating from Carlisle High School, and finishing at Millersville, James Madison, and Widener University ( we hope ). Jim serves on the board of directors of Mid Penn Homecare LLC, the IASHF Investment Fund Trust, and is a past Chairperson of the Carlisle Borough Municipal Authority. Jim joined the CCHS in 2013 when Rude DeFrance scolded him for not being a member. Since then he has enjoyed the fellowship of the society as much as learning about the rich history of Cumberland County. John Lyter was born and raised in Carlisle- Graduate of CHS and Lycoming College-Retired after 35 yrs as a claims representative in the insurance industry. Married to Karen 40 plus years. We have twins (JR and Becca) Hobbies include Golf, visiting historic places and homes, antiques and working out. Board member of Historic Carlisle (former President) and have served on the YMCA Board on two occasions. Have been on the museum committee at CCHS for 35 plus years. Kate Theimer is the author of the popular blog and Twitter account ArchivesNext and a frequent writer, speaker, and commentator on issues related to the future of archives. She is the editor of the series Innovative Practices in Archives and Special Collections, containing books on description, management, outreach, reference and access, educational programs, and appraisal. She is the author of Web 2.0 Tools and Strategies for Archives and Local History Collections and the editor of A Different Kind of Web: New Connections between Archives and Our Users. She has published articles in The American Archivist, Archivaria, and the Journal of Digital Humanities. Kate served on the Council of the Society of American Archivists from 2010 to Before starting her career as an independent writer and editor, she worked in the policy division of the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park, Maryland. She holds an MSI with a specialization in archives and records management from the University of Michigan and an MA in art history from the University of Maryland.

5 EK Weitzel retired from county government in 2008 where she gave her time and talents to the regions nonprofits. She has been involved with the formation of the Carlisle Theatre since 1989 and currently is on the Board of Directors at the theatre. In addition, she belongs to Kiwanis, St. John's Episcopal Church, and volunteers at the Carlisle Chamber of Commerce and CCHS. Giving back to the community, with hands on involvement, is EK s life s work and mission.
