DeGarmo Architectural Drawings Overview of the Collection Creator: DeGarmo, Walter C., Title: Walter C. DeGarmo architectural drawings Dates: (bulk ) Quantity: 30 cubic feet Abstract: Architectural drawings for buildings in Miami-Dade County, Fort Lauderdale, Key Largo, and a few other Florida cities. Buildings are mainly in Mission Revival and Mediterranean Revival styles. Identification: Biographical Note Architect. Specialized in Mission Revival and Mediterranean Revival styles, adapted to South Florida climate and building materials. DeGarmo received a BA in Architecture from Cornell University, and joined the New York firm of John Russell Pope. Walter DeGarmo and his father, Charles DeGarmo, moved to Coconut Grove in Beginning soon thereafter, he designed a number of houses and buildings in Coconut Grove and Miami-Dade County. He was most active during the 1920s.

2 Scope and Contents Elevations, renderings, plans, and details of houses, stores, churches, schools, office buildings, hotels, club houses, and apartments. Many of the drawings are notable for their draftsmanship. Structures represented in these drawings were built in Belle Isle, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Ft. Lauderdale, Homestead, Key Largo, Miami, Miami Beach, Miami Shores, and Star Island. Significant buildings designed by DeGarmo and represented in these records include: Miami City Hall (1907) Demolished. -- McAllister Hotel (1916) 10 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami.
